@N8v-Ghost's Good Journey 420 They're definitely gonna try to strip away everything they can from us. people think it's all hyperbole and fearmongering...it isn't! Reminds me of the old saying, "If the devil tells you he's evil, the best thing to do is believe him." They're telling us what they wanna do, and they mean it. It's time for people to wake up. Stay safe and prepared out there my friend!

@N8v-Ghost's Good Journey 420 Amen to that! I'm not gonna go out here and start the war (although these nuts basically already have) but I'll be damned if I wont fight if that's the call that comes my way. I've raised my kids already and lived a pretty damn good life so I'll die on my feet before I ever live on my knees.
My dad was a mortar man in WWII. He said after landing on the beach the stands lasted just a few days before they took them off, too heavy to carry. He said he would brace it with his knees and lob one shell in to sink it into the dirt. The he would nudge it with his knees to aim.

@@thecakeisalie6392 To be honest he wouldn't talk about what happened. When my son started to ask him questions he opened up a little. There were only 8 left of his company and they had a reunion. After that more stories came out.
Someone asked Dragonman if he was on the ATF/FBI watchlist. He said , NO, they're on my watchlist.

My Father was a 81MM Mortar Crew Member with the 180th Infantry Regiment, part of the 45th Infantry Division, during WWII. Had 511 days of combat during WWII. Earned two Bronze Star Medals and Eight Battle Stars and an Arrowhead device on his Campaign Medal. At the end of the war he was at Dachau.
My dad served in the Pacific in WW - we'd been watching some old war movie and he said, mortars didn't sound like what was portrayed. He then told me, you'd hear them launch (and made that sound) but didn't know where they were going to land....you just hoped it didn't have your name on it!

Mortars never used shotgun shells like that. The bombs have a primary charge in their base, then additional charges as removable bands of explosive around their base, above the fins. The more of the charge bands are left on, the further it will fire.

During basic training in 1945, my dad watched, as a crew practicing mortors, fired one and it exploded, killing all of them. It hit a branch of a tree, close to them, I believe.

I love this Man. God bless his Metal Heart.
That was an awesome demo, since Saving Private Ryan (City battle scene) I was curious about those mortars, two ways to fire..Now Dragonman, break out your German 88's, would love to see those fire as well
Awesome stuff .... enjoyed that very much.
I enjoyed this video, hope to see more like it.
Just to be at dragonmans and pop off a few of those at some man made bull's eye huge targets would be awesome! Thank to see a cool mortor launcher Dragonman
Our sister battalion 1-61 put the 81 mortars inside their APCs. My battalion (regular grunts) 1-11 5th Mech kept the 60mm mortars in the supply room. To heavy for patrolling. Nice video thanks.

@@rowbearpucklebuck2331 Yes, it's a Finnish smoke launcher, and is not rated to fire actual mortar shells.

@@mzmadmike hi Mike i remember these Finnish mortars coming into the US back in the early 1980’s. I believe they weren’t classified as a destructive device and not a firearm since it only shot smoke generators and as you stated, not capable of handling the pressures of an actual mortar round. Sort of fell into that gray area of the 37mm tear gas guns and Lyle guns, ie not guns but projectors.
Wow thank you, good teacher.
You got so cool stuff .
Awesome!
hi, does anyone have the dimensions of the Baseplate of the M1 mortar? we want do make a 3d print in 1:6th scale and need these dimensions
It look like a short round? God that’s cool stuff. I was one of the few who got to use 120s in falluja Iraq.
Great video

Hope you have a good retriever dog to return the mortars, lol. It would keep the dog in great shape and make life easier for whoever you have chasing down the mortars. Great stuff.
