    The thing that gets me about the Lost Cosmonaut theory is the same thing that gets me about the Apollo Program theory, specifically where the Apollo program was supposedly filmed on a sound stage and a dummy rocket was launched, and what gets me is how, conveniently, _neither side_ in both scenarios called the other out. The US and Soviet Union were locked in an _intense_ game of espionage and spying on one another from the very end of WWII to the dissolution of the USSR, with listening stations pointed in either direction, catching transmissions far and wide, yet _not once_ did either side report anything out of the ordinary regarding the overarching Space Race, nor did either side put one another on blast in front of, say, the United Nations. While I understand that the Soviet Union was _incredibly_ secretive regarding their space program, this does not change the fact that if it's incredibly _unlikely_ that something has happened, it's safe to assume that it _didn't happen._ The lack of evidence should not be used in place of evidence. ETA, TL;DR: Like the Moon Landing Hoax theory, if the Soviet Union launched people and animals into space prior to Laika and Yuri Gagarin, respectively, and those people and animals had been lost, more than just two dudes in Italy would have found out about it, and probably a lot sooner.

    One other critical fact not mentioned in this video; the Soviet DID lose Cosmonauts during the 60s and 70s, but they weren't covered up. Soyuz 1 in 1967 crashed after reentry, killing Vladimir Komarov, and Soyuz 11 in 1971 suffered catastrophic failure during reentry which killed its three cosmonauts. Both incidents were publicized shortly afterwards, which would make it unlikely that other failures would be covered up. They knew that everyone else was going to know, so better to be up front than the attempt a cover-up

    It should be noted that the Soviet Union of the late 60s and 70s is very different from the Soviet Union of the 50s and early 60s. I know it might not seem like it, but Stalinism and all the paranoia that it inspired was still alive and well in the institutions well after his death. Topics like the Gulag camps, which would become more openly discussed in the 70s and 80s were very much clamped down upon in the 50s and 60s. I’m not necessarily saying that the theory is true, but I am saying that if an accident like that were to occur in the late 50s or early 60s, it absolutely be in the Soviet Union’s MO to cover it up.

  • @itsmerker

    @itsmerker

    Жыл бұрын

    @@TheGhostLegend001 Very true, but I think the fairly quick response they had in regards to these incidences was more due to the fact US or NATO intelligence would have known about it and made it public, damaging their image abroad. It's far less about the internal discussion, and far more about their image around the world. When combined with everything else, it would seem almost inconceivable that they succeeded in such an immense cover-up, except for just these guys finding out

  • @TheGhostLegend001

    @TheGhostLegend001

    @@itsmerker Very true. I guess my view would be that since these cosmonaut accidents are posited to have occurred in the late 50s, before Gregarin’s walk, given my previous comment and the fact that US and NATO monitoring equipment almost certainly wasn’t as good as it would be a decade later, I think it’s at least possible that an accident like that might have occurred at that time period. Is it likely? Probably not, but I think there’s enough margin there to make it a possibility.

    Back in the days there were also skeptics in Italy. CICAP (Comitato italiano per il controllo delle affermazioni sulle pseudoscienze) is an organization built to debunk pseudosciences and similar, it was actually founded by an italian scientific journalist from Turin too. And they were pretty critical of these recordings, debunking them too. But the aura of mith and legend is still pretty alive here. I've actually been living in Turin for more than 10 years, and Torre Bert and the brothers are still talked like an old, scary, legend. It actually connects to the hystorical aura of esoterism and mistyque about the city of Turin itself.

    A re-entry vehicle obviously wouldn't have the ∆v to reach escape velocity. However from the perspective of an observer on earth, a highly elliptical orbit could appear similar to escape velocity. (The craft is moving away from earth in both cases) Even an intercept with the moon sends the craft on a temporary course away from the earth. Don't forget the moon is pretty far away.

    According to the book "Starman", Nelyubov was kicked out of the Soviet space program for not apologizing after starting a bar fight. He went back to flying fighter jets and then committed suicide. They probably doctored him out of the photo as part of erasing his identity as a cosmonaut in order to maintain secrecy.

  • @yinyangsaladgang8789

    @yinyangsaladgang8789

    11 ай бұрын

    If they really wanted to maintain secrecy why would they erase ONE guy but leave 8 of the other space program team members in clear view, especially Yuri Gagarin? Besides that, the Soviets only made the names of their cosmonauts public after they had successfully completed a space mission. That doctored photo was first released as part of a Soviet media campaign to show the successful Russian cosmonauts to the world. The Soviets most commonly edited photos for propaganda purposes or to erase people from the historical record as a form of punishment for disobeying the party. It seems much more likely that they just wanted to remove a disgraced member of the team to protect the image of the Soviet space program and to deny Nelyubov the glory and fame of having been a part of it.

    Starman is an absolutely garbage book and is mostly just fictional. The amount of damage the book has made is something that is not talked about enough. It doesn't source most of it's claims (which goes against pretty much every other established claims by first hand sources) and when the book did it often referred to a KGB bodyguard named "Venyamin Russayev" that claimed he worked with the cosmonauts, which there was absolutely no records supporting. The book is the source of plain fictional myths like Komarov taking the Soyuz 1 mission to protect Gagarin knowing it was a suicide mission (when in reality he literally pushed for the mission's go ahead and Gagarin was never even on the flight plan) Read "Rockets and People" if you want an actual objective and factual view of the Soviet Space program written by Boris Chertok himself.

    1. The Soviets saw sacrifices of cosmonauts in name of duty as something to be hailed and set an example hence why the cosmonauts that died in Soyuz 1 and Soyuz 11 got grand state funeral for the public to see and detailed reporting in their newspaper. They saw it as a good propaganda piece and examples of true duty. 2. The Soviets had a tendency to write down absolutely everything and put it into hidden archives. In the 90's westerners go access to these archives and is the reason why we now know so so much more of what actually went on. 3. In the 90's Soviet personel and cosmonauts of their space program were allowed to share all their experiences and thoughts. Boris Chertok for an example wrote several volumes in the minute details of what happened in his series "Rockets and People" and the cosmonauts were in several documentaries ("the red stuff" for an example) there they shared all their experiences and tragedies. People that actually believe there were more cosmonauts deaths hidden away are straight up just ignorant of the topic. They are not different from believing the moon landings were faked. One question I have, is how they would have heard the heart beats. unless there was equipment specifically set up to record the heart beats of the missing cosmonauts, or even Laika onboard Sputnik 2, it seems unlikely that they could be heard by normal audio equipment. Also, Laika is believed to not survived long in orbit, so the window of of recording any data seems to decrease the possibility of hearing any heart beat unlikely. Otherwise I am not aware of any equipment set up to specifically listen to heartbeats on any manned missions. A heartbeat could easily be mistaken for any rhythmic pulsing sound that could be created by the systems of the craft, or electrical pattern or interference of the transmission itself. On a separate note, it is known that the Soviets would reuse names of failed missions, so craft like Luna or Vostok may have had more iterations then was publicly announced. A well know example of this is the Venera (Venus) probes.

    @@Irobert1115HD having a planet land on a probe? what the fuck are you talking about? Also the soviets landed on Venus which is far more impressive then mars and so far the only country to do so. It also doesn't matter what use a rocket has because that is not at all important to what technology powers it. The Saturn V would have also definitely had military use had it been funded for longer. It almost more impressive that the soviets where able to adapt military craft for so many civilian programs with such little funding.

All based on the same none existant evidence
