This video was a massive topic that I had to distill into around 23 minutes. I was unfortunately unable to delve into the wider political implications of the hijacking due to time constraints, as well as being unable to dissect the true motives and mechanics of the hijacking itself. However, the sources above will provide an in-depth overview of that that I could scarcely give outside of a 30-40 minute video.

The Achille Lauro hijacking has to be one of the most interesting events in Italian Cold War history, a period which isn’t well known in the anglosphere. As such, I want to bring some attention to other , fascinating events that happened during that time: -The Aldo Moro kidnapping, the height of the red brigade’s power; -The Borghese coup, an attempted fascist coup that failed for unclear reasons; -The war against the mafia; -Tangentopoli, and the rise of Silvio Berlusconi.

TV news in Italy is not very reliable just look at the actual Italian situation which always talks about feminicides obviously I condemn femicide, what makes me turn up is that they have transformed the term "femicide" into a synonym for a woman k1lled by someone, while it should be a woman k1lled by a partner or ex-partner from what is written in the dictionary and from ISTAT sources. They basically found a way to make triple the number of femicide

Italy were shameful cowards during ww2, and have never helped anyone but themselves.
The Sigonella base actually has two parts, one for the US, one italian. The plane landed by us mistake in the italian side, where it was taken in custody by the italian troops, the us arrived asking for the terrorist, but the standoff went something like this "If you try to step on the plane, we will shoot you". There is a also missing part on the story. After the Sigonella standoff, the 737 was sent to Rome with the terrorist. The US tried to intercept it, but it was sent away by the italian air force, then, an American fighter faked an emergency and landed in front of the parked 737, to avoid escapes. The atc called him: "you either move within 5 minutes or we'll send a bulldozer to move you out".

My german mom was part of the service/waitress staff on this ship when it made a week long test tour after its renovation, but decided to leave the ship and her position because of the poor conditions for the crew on board. She said that their uniforms were quite messy when they got them, the crew rooms were dirty and infested with cockroaches and most importantly she said that the male crew was very aggressive towards the female crew. So much so that she only ever walked the ship with another woman to be safer... So in the end she decided to leave ship at a port near Rome were the first passengers arrived and went back to Germany via train. She still remebers that her quite expensive beautycase was stolen at the train station lol Some time later she heard in the news about this incident. Love how this channel is finally getting the attention it deserves! Super underrated
Amazing production value man! Great work.
Just wanted to say I came across your channel today, this being the first video, and have been binging your other videos to much amazement. I absolutely love the production and the storytelling is impeccable. Def earned a sub. Also, do you do all the graphics yourself? If so is Blender part of your workflow?

The sad reality is, America didn't care until they directly saw consequences of funding Israel's illegal occupation. And even then, they were not interested in any peaceful solution. And a lack of peaceful solution is exactly why the boat was hijacked in the first place. They think violence and oppression is always the answer, even when it comes to resistance to said violence and oppression.
Why does this video feel like a call of duty mission planner
Imagine giving signals near the suez canal but someone in sweden gets the signals
One video in and I'm hooked. This is GREAT content. Subbed.
Your content is first-rate, sir! With superlative breadth in research and topic coverage. Not to mention your outstanding pronunciations, exceptional vocabulary and superb grasp of the English language. And with regard to those latter two points, you make this American boy gush with envy.😁
These visuals are top-notch! Love these kind of topics. Cheers!
These edits are insane man. Thanks for making

@@Tpbraut That's... the point. It's just a background hum the fill in the gaps between sentences or w/e. EDIT: To be clear, I mean, if the _background_ music stole the show from the actual video, that's a serious statement regarding either the quality of the video/story or the quality of the background music.

LEMMiNO does it way better, and is more informed.
It's like the plot of a Hollywood film, the negotiator is the mastermind behind the criminals he is negotiating with lol.
just found ur channel from my recommendations and i have to say that the animation style is orgasmic. love it
Love the way he swaps music depending on the location of the map. It's almost like a well edited movie or game.
Mr. Klinghoffer was laid to rest in the town I was working at the time. I was stationed at the cemetery, and was surprised by the modest turnout. It was a dignified ceremony, but relatively private. I sometimes visited his grave during the remaining years I worked there. RIP.

That's so sad what happened to him. He was elderly and disabled and most importantly innocent. He didn't do anything to deserve the fate he got nor the elderly man they beat. Sickening

The production quality is beyond everything you can find on KZread, nice job!

Insane production quality wow
I served as a staff officer aboard the US Navy Helo Carrier that was the Flag Ship for the Search and Rescue operation. No movie or video I've watched has come close to detailing the Top Secret operations involved in the last minute aborted Seal Team rescue operation. Information concerning the real facts of the forced landing of the Egyptian Airliner with the terrorist onboard details will never be released. Nor how US Seals and Italian Military faced off at gun point.
I remember this quite well, nicely done and well explained. Thanks
Thanks for the tips. Got me through tough times.
