Her resources are useful for parents and teachers.
Her online courses cover other topics, such as, is selective mutism caused by trauma? (the difference between SM and traumatic mutism), the diagnostic criteria of SM in the DSM and that children can have co-morbid diagnoses e.g. with autism, OCD etc.).

I am neurodivergent and have selective mutism when I am in severe neurodivergente burnout, but as a late diagnosed neurodivergent woman, I am a master in masking to fit in at a cost that I overstep most of my own boundaries daily also speaking when I am in severe neurodivergent burnout, the only way to get out of my severe neurodivergent burnout is to honor my boundaries, like not talking in some situations, and avoid sensory triggers. When I am not in neurodivergent burnout I funktion much better and am able to talk freely. This presented in early childhood, but back then I was just the extreme shy child sitting in the trees at the playground looking down upon the wild social noisy children, studying them, in silence from a fare.

I have SM myself and I recommend a speech and language therapist. Make sure your child is in an environment where nobody takes notice of them. If your child is in school, inform their teacher and ask them to tell the class. It isn't an illness, they just have to overcome their anxiety one little step at a time.

Why did you reply that and not comment yourself?
