MYSTERY: The Swaddling Cloths and the Salt | Rabbi Jason Sobel with Keshet Journeys - Jerusalem

Ойын-сауық

The Mystery of the Swaddling Cloths and the Salt with Keshet Journeys - Jerusalem - In this podcast episode, Rabbi Jason Sobel builds from his teaching in episode 4, which explored the details surrounding where Yeshua-Jesus was born (not a barn) and those who came to visit Him (not ignorant rabble). One of the signs the angels said to look for was a baby wrapped in “swaddling cloths.” Could this be more than a baby outfit and point to Yeshua’s prophetic destiny?
What about Hanukkah and the Jewish people?
Moshe Gabay and Marnix Van Ede of Keshet Journeys in Jerusalem, Israel join Rabbi Jason Sobel in talking about the Holy Land and what draws people so deeply. - keshetjourneys.com/

    As a former raiser of sheep I can share that lambs are born single twins and even rarely triplets. What we called a 150 percent lamb crop was our goal. Lambs are notorious for being born with weak ankles and not being able to stand and certainly a hard time walking. Any Shepard worth his salt knows how to wrap lambs front legs with cloth to help them overcome this problem. I've always felt this maybe caused by being crowded in womb.

    You have added to the revelation God gave me about Migdal Eder and the lambing caves where the lambs raised for sacrifice at Passover were born. it makes such sense that priestly garments from Zachariah would make up his swaddling cloths, and that those cloths would signify the Light of the World (Chanukah-the Light) and that he would be salted as a sign of the Covenant of Salt (friendship with God). Thank you so much for sharing this!

    Catholics ARE Christian!!!

  • @Frst2nxt

    @Frst2nxt

    Жыл бұрын

    Catholics are the original Church grown out of the Jewish core, with many gentiles grafted in. The protestant view waters down many Jewish points of the Faith. As Jews would always maintain, Catholics know they cannot buy an undoing of their sins, but need a Sacrifice that can buy them Reconciliation to the GOD they offended and buy them the opportunity to make reparation as a part of the honor of a restored state of Grace. In the Tanakh, the same root and a couple words from it, as used of JESUS as WONDERFUL, or a MIRACLE, in Isaiah, in saying a SON is given WHO shall be called PELE' and so forth, is used to speak of fulfilling a Vow and of performing to completion a Sacrifice. This is like the idea in the Catholic Church of a Sacrament and of a Sacramental. Thus John calls Baptism a Power to become sons of GOD, anticipating his record a little later first of water turning to wine, then of Nicodemus being told to be reborn of the water and of the SPIRIT - and, of course, the SPIRIT was empowering the water at the beginning of time to bring forth HIS Christian young whose destinies HE was already brooding over like a mother dove. Thus, we see the Letter to the Hebrews saying that we have tasted of the Powers of the age to come after listing things like Baptism as the start of all things for us. And none of us but Mary are equal to, nor anyone, including Mary, better than John the Baptist, yet, the least of us in the Kingdom is accounted greater, because why? Because, as Nicodemus was told, Baptism grants birth into the Kingdom, which John died before he could enter, and, as Peter says because of this Baptism, plus the Anointing to recieve the HOLY SPIRIT, plus the Eucharist making us one flesh and blood with JESUS, we are partakers in the Divine Nature.

    I’m preparing a homily for the solemnity of Mary the Mother of God, on January 1, and this reading from Luke about the shepherds seeing the sign of a mother with the child in swaddling cloths, laid him in a manger will be proclaimed. Now I really get it. In the early church, there were many icons showing this cave with jagged edges, and the child tightly wrapped in a manger that looks more like a coffin, or casket, foreshadowing his eventual death. He came into the world, in order to die for us, just like Jesus. Your details about the swaddling cloths make it all come together. It is my dream to go one day to the holy land.

By in-depth, I mean not simply reading thoroughly but searching for the true meanings of many words with language tools, researching culture of the time, digging for maps to understand geography of an area, and so much more. I am truly appreciative for this valuable information. To have a more in-depth view of what scripture says about this topic is vital to our life in our Mashiach. I hope that one day Christians will do this same dive and learn more about their Jewish Messiah. I was raised in a Christian home and later found out of my Ashkenazi roots. In all of the Christian churches I've been a part of for decades, never have I heard messages about Yeshua being Jewish and given understanding of what that means and how that applied to me. Thank you so much, again.

    I like your idea of John's father giving the cloths to Mary to swaddle Yeshua in - But it also makes sense that the temple lambs were swaddled in these cloths, so there was probably a lot of these cloths already there and available in the caves, being ready and available for the lambs. I don't think that belittles the awesomeness of this - but even upholds it more so. Mary and Joseph didn't just "grab what was lying around" to swaddle Yeshua in - they could have used their own clothing to do that. But no, they were intentional - they knew what those swaddling cloths were used for, and they knew this child was holy, so it made sense to swaddle Him in these cloths. That is absolutely amazing and wonderful to me!!

  • @BeardedBarley1

    @BeardedBarley1

    I agree. But giving those cloths to Mary may have been a sign to Mary’s parents that a high order priest had confirmed that her pregnancy was from God and not man and that she was telling the truth about it. I find it interesting that movies about the nativity don’t point out this fact. Hmm.

    Great video! I am so inspired and wish that my family and I couldn't go to Israel now. I love the insight into the swaddling clothes when Yeshua was born. Another insight is that Mary or Miriam had a womb that had never been defiled by sinful man. Then 33 years later there was a tomb that had never been defiled by sinful or dead men. Because Joseph of Arimathea, who interestingly wrapped Jesus's dead body in cloth, like swaddling cloth, also gave him his tomb which the scriptures say was never defiled by a dead man. In both cases, Yeshua burst fourth from the womb and from the tomb as the first fruits. The first time being born as God and man the second time being born again as man and God so that we could be born again too. Sin and death defeated!!! I would love to mention how good your channel is to my audience, during live chat tomorrow morning. I am releasing a video teaching on this very subject tomorrow morning, 12/9/22 at 9:30 a.m. Pacific time. Shalom Rabbi and thank you for your great work! These scriptures mean so much more, because they’ve become Life to me! So grateful & thankful for this growth in my understanding. 🙏🥰♥️

    I learned that the original tabernacle had woven curtains, many many lengths of them , They were linen clothes, When they were replaced ,the cloth was never not useful still. They were kept for swaddling precious items. Items like mennorah wicking , im sure the lambs of the temple were forerunners of our Saviour . This understanding today is a gift to us ,much needed today , Can you imagine , how much linen thread ,had to be threshed to have enough to weave all those lengths of curtain ,of the tabernacle. it makes me think, the area in which the tabernacle was assembled, was a place of provision , not a wilderness of parched land at all . Crops of linenplants grew there for harvest. Adonai is great , GREATER THAN WEVE UNDERSTOOD, BLESS US MORE LORD,PLEASE. ❤israel nz

    Maybe no one taught this before because they saw problems. 1 problem I see in this is that Mary is not allowed to touch any Holy things after giving birth, because it is prohibited in the torah that a woman that has given birth has to wait certain amount of days before she can be allowed to touch any holy items or go to the temple. Leviticus 12:2-4 Mary would not be able to hold the baby while wrapped in the swaddling cloth assuming the swaddling cloth is holy.

    @@Keturah53 Mary could not, if we assume what the video said about Jesus being wrap with the cloth from used garments of the priests is true, because Mary would be violating leviticus 12:2-4. And Mary would not allow the cloth to be used if she knew where the cloth came from because it will prohibit/prevent her from holding the child.

    @RabbiJasonSobel It's a blessing that there are folks who can truly see facts and make a reasonable conclusion. You mentioned a cave that Yeshua was born, but I am kinda believing He was born in a booth. He being born during the eight day feast of Sukkot. Born on the first and circumcised on the eighth.

    Just a question from someone who doesn't know the complete picture: how could the baby lambs stand to nurse from their mothers if they were swaddled? Imagining a swaddled human baby, they're swaddled from head to toe. Were these special lambs only swaddled around their bodies, so they could stand? Thank you!

    Good point about the Israelites being commanded to go to Jerusalem for 3 of the feasts. This is why Miriam and Yosef went to Bethlehem. It was for the Feast of Tabernacles. Knowing the Hebrew culture far better than we do, the Romans of that day knew it too so that is why they did a census at that time.

    We went on a huge 14 bus tour in 2018 and will NEVER do that again! I wish we knew beforehand how large it was going to be, then we would have chosen something else. The only place I didn't feel safe was in Bethlehem because of some crazy young men that were fighting and almost knocked me down. We would live to go again but not on a tour
