Shango you are a genius. This video proves it. You have shown a most effective method of connecting with your audience. I have been watching your videos for years now. The subtlety of your technique is profound and powerful. I love the comments and narrative that you typically provide but this video is just fabulous in its simplicity and is startlingly informative even more so without your commentary. The typical visions of spiders and filth make all of your stuff so real. You are a master of cinema verite. Your reality is a hyper reality that makes the diagnosis/repair feel like I have actually made the repair myself. The jumpy camera, the in focus/out of focus views, the crappiness of the junk you resurrect, I feel totally part of the repair process as you struggle/or not with the vagaries of various electromechanical manufacturing technologies from the past 80 years. I begin to feel as though I am as smart and capable of the repair as you most obviously are. I thank you for the wonderful pleasure that your videos provide. Informative, Intelligent, Artistic, Interesting, Entertaining, I watch/study your videos to the exclusion of most everything else. Your're stuff is the best.

So the F.m detector is the old insensitive double diode type, so there needs to be a high i.f output to drive it fully. The front end is as dead as a dodo, so the whole i.f stage is very low, low f.m audio is the result. I hope your laryngitis or recent dentist pain will get better soon. What can be a reason for a transistor fail like this? There is no high voltage, high current, high temp... nothing dangerous to a transistor's health :)

Did you record this in DTS 5.1, this explains everything, the center channel is missing.

An interesting fact about mourning doves... that deep hooo-hooo sound they make, which can often be heard for a city block occurs when they inflate their chest and blast air through their pinhole-sized nostrils; they don't even open their beak to make this sound.

The ghosts of Paul Harvey and Garner Ted Armstrong were there looking over your shoulder during that repair.

@@DasMrOSi I like the guy from India that makes all the different rat fryificators and vacuum suckenemup traps and he never says a word but this is not the same, I'm not just here for the repair! I'm here for the narration, I'm here for the expansion of my vocabulary and the rants, but also his heart to hearts with telemarketers. So doing a repair or deep underground showing me places I'll never be able to go to all his videos deserve to be fully Shango-fied, or pole dancers I guess.

If you don't speak you can't be accused of saying the "wrong" thing or having the "wrong" opinion. Prefer it when you talk though...

usually, when you see something like this. the radio was used by workmen in the field....those lantern batteries were probably being used in some sort of equipment(lighting, probably), so they get them for free.

​@@RoughJustice2k18 Autonomous sensory meridian response (ASMR) "is an experience characterized by a static-like or tingling sensation on the skin" (cheers Wikipedia - explains it better than I could!). Some people get tingles from watching other people doing certain things, or hearing certain sounds etc. There's a massive community of creators on KZread who attempt to 'trigger' this sensation and this video of shango's reminded me of an ASMR vid. :) I do love the usual commentary on his vids though!
