Have you ever thought about doing a video about "Your Perfect Anthology" where you Frankenstein together an anthology out of 5-star short stories you've read from other anthologies. You might even design a book cover for it. Haha ❤

Oh, thank goodness. It's a relief to hear someone finally say that One Dark Window was OK. I read it obsessively because I wanted to know what would happen but, honestly, the book as a whole was a let down because of all the hype. It was fine, but everything you said was ON POINT! But the good reviews were everywhere that I even got the second book together with the first and now I'm not sure I care enough to read it 🙃

I’m so glad someone else wishes An Education in Malice explored the unhealthiness of the teacher student power dynamic more; I think it would have leaned more into the dark academia genre instead of just the aesthetic if it really got into the weeds of how professors have and can abuse power over their students, and breaking away from a relationship like that. The ending felt way too easy on the professor to me.

shed a tear at you DNFing carmilla…. but at the same time i get it lol since you didn’t really enjoy the novella or an education in malice, you may not want to really revisit the story, but i would kick myself if i didn’t recommend the carmilla webseries on the youtube channel kindatv. fully a cheesy, campy take on the novella; it was a small, low budget series that took off and became kind of a cult classic in online spaces. they ended up making 3 seasons and a film, and it’s got a bit more action and fantastical elements than the novella did. just had to recommend, sorry it’s not fully book related 😅
