This will be a love/hate kinda comment... I love a GOOD Limburger cheese sandwich... (defined as: proper NY style pumpernickel bread (with firm crust); light layer of butter on both halves; 1/4" to 3/8" thick slices of Limburger; 1/4" whole slice of red onion (or a Visalia onion); salt (too your taste) & fair amount of good ground pepper), served with a cold beer of your choice. So when I saw this video, I decided to drive the 700 mile round trip to Monroe this summer (2023) and try their sandwich. Disappointing. Monroe is lovely; the restaurant/bar featured was very nice (old school, lots of charm and sidewalk seating; and the staff terrific). The sandwich was the let down. Simple, small square bread pre-sliced; soft like Wonder bread; the cheese JUST FINE!! (from the same cheese maker my local store will special Limburger from... think they are the last one still making it in the USA); the onion was the chopped kind you put in a salad; no butter; the pepper just the usual restaurant pepper in the shaker. LOL... the beer was fine. So, don't know what is was like 14 years ago when the view was made, but NOT a must try currently.
