My Winter Camping & Hiking Gear ❄️ 12kg Base Weight ..not light or cheap, but keeps me safe in cold

A lil run-through of my winter camping & hiking gear, used during my first snowy trip (video here: • 2 Nights Alone in the ... ). Some of this I’ve been using for years, some of it is new, but all of it performed really well
Ps.. I have no affiliation or sponsorship with any gear manufacturers. All gear has been purchased at my own discretion with my own money

I am so glad, you are not using a Lanshan tent in those conditions. The Hilleberg will keep you safe in high winds and the worst of storms in the winter. Safe travels. Always. =)

You've got quite a comprehensive set of gear there, just 1 change I would recommend is to exchange the opinel for a multi tool, small swiss army knife or similar, couple of extra tools there, incase you need to tighten a screw up on your tripod or similar. Just a thought, the wife an I always look forward to your delightful videos. Thanks Ant

Not sure where to start with the comments…first off, omg your rapid evolution to one of the top KZread channels, you should have a million subscribers. The gear choices show an obvious series of choices based on USE, not some armchair BS. I’ve never even seen a Hilleberg tent but from what I can tell they are the Gold Standard of bomber tents. You post some of the absolute best videos on KZread, I hope you continue! I’m still not sure how your partner can leave you to do these solo adventures, be safe!

Loved this video Claire. I've been hiking for over 40 years. Although I have lots of quality gear, I have never been able to afford the Hilleberg Soulo tent. Just checked prices, with the base liner, nearly one thousand pounds !! Who in this modern day can afford to spend that much on a tent ? It's almost as much as my old car ! Not realistic today for most.

It’s good to see you have a routine packing and unpacking it helps to make sure you don’t forget something. A tip I learned from my grandma, she put scented soap in drawers at home, when you open a drawer it had an amazing smell so I pack my stuff with a bar of my favourite soap it’s so nice.

Ahh that's nice, I totally get that ☺️ I don't wear perfume but one of my photography clients gave me a tiny vial of lovely fragrance. So I spray it on a sweet elephant I keep on my bed, I also spray it on my camping pillow so it makes my tent smell like my bed at home. It's a simple comfort that can make all the difference in a stormy or unfamiliar territory 🤍

Good point about keeping your first aid kit accessible. Last week I accidently cut off part of the tip of my finger with my knife. Carelessness on my part. Digging around one handed for the first aid kit was pretty difficult, and also discovered how difficult it is to open a wound dressing with one hand! I think I might look at getting a mini first aid pouch to keep clipped to my belt.

Claire, I just got back from a two week desert camping trip in Nevada, USA! Unfortunately, we had a huge wind storm blow through the camp, but because of your videos I was able to use your advice to reinforce my tent, calm myself down, and prevent any damage. After the storm, it turned out to be an amazing trip. So happy to watch your videos and learn from them!! Sarah

So lovely to see you again so soon with your gear review. I think you have the most comprehensive written list of any KZread adventurer, even the miscellaneous stuff, you are giving my OCD a run for its money! But seriously some of the miscellaneous items could end up being a lifesaver for your viewers. There is an old saying pack lite and you’ll sleep cold. Cheers Graham🙂

Great winter kit, some very nice little extras which make things more comfortable and good to see normal food instead of the more expensive made-for-camping stuff. Instant pasta is a camping staple!
