Tell her to get another job before you divorce her.

It honestly seems like op never loved her in the first place and was searching for a way out. How sad.

Nope once some lines are crossed things literally are never the same. She did not respect or value him. She tried to have her cake and eat it too.

a lot of people content to stay in relationships that are easy, regardless of intense feelings of love. But once something taints it, their view of the partner changes and it can't be unseen. My parents were married for nearly 30 years before my mom passed away. My mom was his first girlfriend. I always had this feeling like they both settled for each other. It's not necessarily a bad thing. They were happy enough, but I never saw or sensed any passion or affection between them. My mom had a daughter when she met my dad. They met on the day she broke up with her prior boyfriend (not my sister's dad), and went to a bar to play pool and blow off steam. He was literally a rebound 😂 they both just went for the first opportunity they encountered and got married a year later. Then I saw how my dad interacted with other women, when he started dating after my mom passed. It was different. I know he wasn't trying to replace my mom. She was sick for years and told him she wanted him to move on after she was gone. The couple in the OP got together young. They thought they were in love because it was all they knew. They probably would have stayed in their stagnant, yet content marriage, if the wife's friends hadn't convinced her she was missing out. You don't miss what you don't know is missing. But they opened Pandora's box instead 🤷‍♀️

You realize “op” is the guy telling the story? “Never loved her in the first place” would make sense if *he* were the one wanting to open the marriage. He likely capitulated *because* he loved her and wanted to see her happy, but it hurt him. Some wounds never heal.
