As an AFAB, I despise it when people say that 16/17 year olds need to grow up and then proceed to say that you need to 'go easy' on a 19 year old SHE'S AN ADULT, SHE CAN BE TREATED AS SUCH. It's not like a minor being treated as a 'young adult' which is actually 18-23/24, it's an adult being charged with the right charges as an adult. All the people saying that can grow up and learn how laws work, and stop enabling her, cause they're just as bad, obviously the actual felon will always be the worst but the enablers will forever be jerks and neither deserve anything good.

I checked OPS account and he did! comment update (11 months ago): I did, I was happy she was arrested because she wouldn't be getting away with it but today left me feeling like I should "give her a break" because it's serious charges. post update (8 months ago): At 41 years old I just accepted my dream job I started 2022 married with two kids, financially stable, content at a job that met all my needs, never spent a night alone, with a large supportive extended family. I feared nothing, I had at least 4 emergency contacts if I ever needed anything. I thought I was happy and thriving. I started 2023 divorced, one of those kids ruined my life after she stole thousands of dollars from me, $2 to my name, I rest my eyes on a lumpy couch (anxiety induced insomnia sucks), lost every single friend and family member, and my son is now my only emergency contact. We have one roll of TP left and have been walking to soup kitchens everyday but I’m 100% happier than I was just months ago. I decided to apply for a teaching position that I didn’t think I would get. It was always something I wanted to do but my ex wife would always talk me out of it because she made more $$ than me so she “called the shots”. I was offered the position with a sign on bonus which was a surprise. I won’t get the bonus right away unfortunately, but I haven’t been this excited for something in a long time. I know it’s cliche but it’s never too late to start over or try something new. You are never too old to go after your dreams. post update (7 months ago): I’m a teacher. Today I took the morning off to go to my interview for food stamps and rent/cash assistance. I filled out all the forms, submitted proof that I didn’t have any money (yes this was required), and answered a million questions before being told I don’t qualify. I have a son. It's incredibly dehumanizing to hear that I’m not poor enough or destitute enough for help. I have to “figure something else out” in order to get food. Food insecurity is terrifying. Is dumpster diving at night safe? I know how to stretch food but when I don't have anything to work with it's impossible. comment under that post (7 months ago): I did just start but once my checks start rolling in I will be OK. And I'm a male, not that it matters. this is the last activity on his profile. overall, it looks like he pressed charges and is now doing okay as a lower-class teacher

So wait, you’re telling me a criminal prosecutor reached out to and attempted to guilt trip a borderline homeless guy, who likely can’t survive if this situation isn’t resolved, about how he’s ruining the life of the 19 year old jobless girl who committed credit card fraud? And he should let this debt stand, credit destroyed, so that she can pay him back based on her 0 income which he has no real legal way of forcing her to pay? Are these people mentally challenged? It seems like everyone surrounding OP and his son, besides the lawyer and probably his mom, are massive morons. Letting this kid get off consequence free is the reason her crimes only got worse, it’s the mom’s fault she’s a felon if there’s anyone outside the kid that deserves blame. I better not see an update where OP tells us he didn’t follow through, thisnisnforbher own good, she’s young and can still turn her life around, but not if goes on with that shit attitude she has, never suffering consequences for the now felonious crimes she’s committed.

In short, he got his dream job at a teaching position with a big sign on bonus. He then got blacklisted from a local food pantry, and didn't know where else to go for food (since somehow he still didn't qualify for things like food stamps and rent/cash asssistance despite his situation. Yes, somehow despite his situation he was told that he was not destitute enough to qualify.) A comment suggested he try asking for help from a local church. I have been denied assistance before too they do it a lot. They literally denied me despite my disability and having paperwork documenting me being unable to work because of it which is supposed to automatically qualify me. This was my second interview. They told me that I didn't look disabled and that because I had a job history 10 YEARS AGO BEFORE I BECAME DISABLED that there is no reason I can't work. And it doesn't matter if you have documentation proving you have no money left after paying for all of you rent and bills and can't buy food or even gas for your car. They will deny you for that too just because you meet the monthly income. The government doesn't care about you. I've also been denied disability despite documentation from multiple doctors because their doctor they made me see triggered a panic attack and when I had to leave the room to get air because he kept pushing instead he said that because I left I must just not want it bad enough and he didn't see that I was disabled enough. I literally vomited on his floor. The second time I tried applying before getting married my abusive mother who had been given care of me was keeping me from my appointments so I would be stuck in her care. She didn't want me having money because money meant I could leave. The man who I talked to on the phone was yelling at me when I called to try to get an appointment closer and reschedule and explained what my mother was doing and he was just screaming at me that that doesn't matter and if I don't show up I clearly just don't want it or need it that badly. (This was a Pittsburgh location). And the police wouldn't do anything to help me unless she physically hurt me. It took me a long time to get out and where I am. And the government failed me too every single time. These people do not care. A lot of the food pantry people do not care. I have volunteered too to get extra food. They kept the best stuff for themselves as a pat on the back for their good work. And I reported them for it because it was donated specifically for the families going there who needed it. Completely replaced all of the people there and has stricter regulations.

@@TheGamersRaceJust because you have a job doesn't mean it pays enough for you to eat. My husband is a teacher. They don't get paid much. His last job at a private school of all places that got ridiculous money in donations and grants from the government every year only paid him a little over 25k a year. And they treated him like garbage. His new position pays better but it's still not enough for us to move out of his parents and I've been denied assistance here too because he makes too much even as a two person household. The government doesn't care. They find any reason they can swing to deny you or even take already existing benefits away. And they put you through hell trying to get them. :/

As for the prosecutor, sounds almost like they had some sob story from them but the facts and evidence is clear. You know what those positions are right? Well District Attorneys because thy get elected means they are competing with other attorneys to become the District Attorney. If you are still following so everything they have done in their personal life and career will come into question just like literally any other politician. This is why cheating / betrayal is so screwed up inside relationships. While one spouse is living their lives like everything is ok, the other is plotting and setting up complete destruction for the other. Then when the time comes the law protects the betrayer and makes sure no harm comes to them.

It's an open secret that society in general favors going soft on women in these matters. You can see it in how people simultaneously refer to his 17 YO son as an adult/or almost a man vs how they see the 19 YO stepdaughter as a kid.

Any cop claiming that theft isn't a crime like the ones in this video need to understand the law. Theft is theft. $400 dollars went missing, stepdaughter went on a shopping spree, there was no actual break in, by process of elimination, either the wife or the stepdaughter stole the money. Cops refused to do their job, that's a lawsuit. Theft is a crime.

If he had better camera footage, he could press charges, but since the footage only caught her foot going in the son's room, there's no actual evidence that OP could use and that's the sad part. Our justice system requires direct evidence to prosecute, and since the stepmother lied for her daughter about the money, OP and his son only had circumstantial evidence. It's a sad situation altogether. I sure hope he did go through with the fraud case and teaches her a lesson.
