Yeah so weird that his Defeat at the end of Final Fantasy 1 was his plan all along.. When I found out Jack was Garland and him saying "I wanna kill Chaos" I thought 'That doesn't make sense since that would Mean he would be committing suicide.. And looking at the ending and knowing his plan to have THIS version. Of the WOL succeed. I thought well.. He did succeed in Killing Chaos.. And himself in the process so he truly meant what he said (bizarrely) when he says' I'm gonna kill Chaos"

I think it's not Thief. It's Warrior + White Mage + Monk + Red Mage. Red Mage because it's a mage with a sword.

Considering the ending, i think this was a perfect choice for the ending credits.

@@NAzo. it's the ending that makes this song the perfect choice, Jack failed in the end, but you know what? At least he did it in his own way, his own plan, and that's one regret less than what he would have otherwise.

@@QuaestorL No he didn't he made sure lufenia couldn't fuck with Cornelia anymore and now he waits for the true warriors of light to come and kill him to truly get rid of all the darkness he spread throughout the land in order to get the lufenians to fuck off. His plan successfully worked with a few unwanted casualties but he did it his way.

Best of all, Jack still broke through the cycle. Once the Warriors destroy Chaos and the darkness festering the world, he too is restored in the final loop, happy like the rest. The Final Fantasy has completed, all thanks to Jack and the Warriors.

Beginning of the game: WTF 😂😂 End of the game: You did it your way Jack...😢

This ending was really something else... I didn't expect this awesome twist to the story when I started playing the game. Stranger of Paradise will probably be one of the most underrated games of the year, just for the reason that many people shy away from playing it based on their first impression.

Bought this game with no expectations, never even played a FF game before. I just wanted a goofy action game from Team Ninja. Played through it, loved it and am now playing FF1. So thanks for getting me into FF, SOP. You really are a strange special little game that i will never forget.

Man jack is hands down my favorite protag in any final fantasy dudes a real one it’s like a group of dudes at square were drunk one company dinner and one started singing my way and they hashed the entire game out over shots

Mine is ironically the Warrior of Light but Jack is way up there.

I did not like the story telling, but I love love love the story itself. The ending is heartbreaking. Really wish this game will sell well. Chaos memes are fun, but underneath all the memes there is a true gem tbh

Agree fully, it might have not been the best way of telling the story, i can point out at least 3 things that where a little jarring in the story telling department but when i reached the end, ngl i legit had teary eyes, not of laughter but for the tragedy the ending is and what the ending represents, it was oddly beautiful

I never even understood modern meme culture to begin with, half the time it feels like people use memes to make fun of each other or something else in order to derive some sense of power and pride within themselves, which speaks more about them than those they are attempting to make fun of. I even came across people who only know how to communicate through memes, it makes me wonder of how much of their own culture they actually know of. Like OP said, memes are fun, but often they mask a hidden truth.

This game is deserving of so much more. Once the story finally clicked and the build up all the way into the end was simply amazing. I couldn’t stop smiling even into the credits. Sadly other games this year will over shadow it, but man what a fantastic story. Experience it for yourself before trashing it.

When this played in the beginning, I laughed because of how out of place and weird it seemed to be in the game Then you roll credits and it fits 100% with Jack and makes total sense with the ending. Actually got a little misty, can't believe they pulled it off.

It's truly a testament to how talented the staff at Square can be for turning a remake/prequel of the blandest, albeit original entry and gave it such personality and identity in a long line of sequels simply trying to do the same thing but better. I desperately want more like this. Hell, I want a follow-up to this but as a legit adventure game, as the original game felt decades ago, fully realized

@@KurffyOriginal With the timeloop broken at the end of FF1; Jack returns to normal and is no longer chaos. I choose to believe that this logic would also extend over to the fiends, allowing them all to have a happy ending and for Jack to reunite with Sarah.

Sure, having Frank Sinatra on a Final Fantasy soundtrack sounds dumb on paper, but then again, so did Kingdom Hearts.

I'm really glad we still have games like SOP comes from a big publisher, it feels like a passion project among the staff with a lot of charm and quirkiness that you won't find in big AAA games. Yeah, it's got a lot of flaws but if you ask do I want a new Horizon or SOP and I would choose this 100%

I'm still surprised how this game was so badly recieved, it bafles me, i know the game has glaring issues other than the art direction and optimization. For me it reminds me of an old fashioned tragedy, its a valid story the one that it tells, even if the how it does this telling isn't the best. The game is a tragedy in which the protagonist doesn't die, but rather the protagonist loses everything and finally now after not being blind anymore, finds happiness on his demise becuase its something he choose to do

It's tragedy because no matter how strong the hero is (Jack), the realisation at the end is that he is a hamster in a wheel. He then makes the ultimate sacrifice to destroy this cage.

Aside from Elden Ring which, let's be honest, is just Dark Souls mixed with Breath of the Wild, heavily overshadowing this game, Stranger of Paradise is not your traditional FF game (Then again, when was the last traditional FF game? FF 9?). On top of that, there were and STILL are people who think this is not a FF1 prequel but a remake, despite the title of the game, the trailers, and even SE themselves coming out, clearly stating otherwise. The story itself, while great, does suffer from some issues that I think if they went for something a bit more simple but still kept the same premise could've easily been mitigated, cause it's clear that with all of the datalogs and such that you have to read in order to get the full picture, this game bit way more than it could chew when it came to story. And then there's the looting. I. Hate. Looter. Games. Period. Looters attempt to give depth and complexity to games that either don't have it or don't need it. Despite all that, I still loved Stranger of Paradise, in fact I consider it to be leagues better than XV than 7Remake, especially the latter which was trying to be a movie more than a game.

In FF1's ending after the Warriors of Light defeat Chaos, the timeline is reset for the final time. Garland is there in the new timeline and he is no longer evil because the time loop is broken and so he never turns to Chaos. In other words, Jack gets a happy ending after all.

@@seogabonotjah6555 nah, after the time loop is broken Sarah remains with the WoL as canon (you can see their romantic interaction in several games like WoFF). But Jack being alive and freed from his lufenian imposed fate is still a great ending for all.

Loved this game, best modern FF, my current GOTY.

If you are Filipino and playing this game, expect singing My Way with Jack Garland's humongous sword to kill assailants and becoming Chaos for this

He takes the fall, knowing the four fiends will resurrect him as Chaos, which in turn allows the WoL to destroy Chaos once and for all.

It makes me sad, let's be honest, realistically this game probably won't perform very well in sales, specially considering it's releasing a few weeks after Elden Ring. Nevertheless, I hope this will be a memorable game

In the end, Jack Garland had no regrets.

If you consider the Dissidia timeline canon then Garland survives and and by the end "Jack" teams up with Zest (Warrior of Light) and doesn't die (FF1 takes place before Dissidia NT). So now you don't have to be sad. ...I mean- Jed and the others though... lmao. yeah they're dead.

Frank Sinatra in 2022 is WILD. Appearing in Chaos: The Final Fantasy Game and the Analog Superhorror KZread show that is The Nixonverse.

God I cried hearing this kick in as the FF1 party entered the shrine.

Gotta say. There was something weirdly poignant as the song fades out as the starting scene from the original game is recreated.

When i heard this in the trailer for the first time i burst out laughing, but its grown on me, this was a definite buy for me since we saw the reveal trailer

I thought I knew what I was getting into when I got the game. We all knew Jack was Garland and that he would become Chaos. I wasn't expecting such an emotonal rollercoaster. And My Way really sealed the deal.

Never played a final fantasy game but the trailer makes me want to buy it.

If you let it sink its hooks into you, it can take your emotions on a roller-coaster ride that makes it almost seem like you can actually make a difference since you're behind the controls, and then the reality pulls the rug out from under you. It hurts, but it's a good kind of hurt.

Just beat the game yesterday. Felt that the story was an absolute joke, but then it all came together. Felt that if the game was a lot more polished and story beats were better written, it would definitely have been one of the best, but I won’t deny that I got goosebumps when the OG warriors of light stepped out of the light and this song played. Don’t regret playing this at all, just the fact that most ppl will, understandably, pass the story off like I did, and not see it through to the end, and see how beautiful it was.

I find it better than most modern FF stories honestly. I think the writing is great, it's the presentation that's flawed. BUT I'll take it as it is if it means I won't get another FF game that is mostly just cutscenes and paragraphs of expository dialogue like usual.

The human race disappoint me evertime I Iisten or read someone saying Stranger of Paradise is a bad game. They just didn't get the story, didn't play FF1 and all the other numeric FF games, and are just bound to repeat the words of others without analyzing if they are wrong or right. Those same people also claim FF9 is the best in the series when it's written like Weird Al Yankovic directing a Studio Ghibli film while high on shrooms. It's also because they want the trivialities other FF games have, the one normal sane people are sick and tired of, and this game proudly tells them to go away, I'm doing things my way.

Easily the coolest and most fun "Souls-like" (though that term feels dumb and reductive) I have ever played. I love this game and tired of Elden Ring almost immediately.

I hope they will include Chaos someday so I can play as him, Garland and Jack. Chaos, Chaos and Chaos.

You know i stopped playing this game at first thinking it was meh, laughing at out of place music placements etc. But then i gave it another chance and finished it. The final scene in the throne room with them transitioning from fiends into humans and arrival of warriors of light and stuff. Boy never i've been so wrong in my life.

This is honestly the most unexpected turn around for a story I've ever seen in a game. I always thought the gameplay and ost was top tier throughout the whole experience though. This is definitely one of the best action rpgs if not the best I've ever played.

I liked the game yeah there is better but I honestly enjoyed myself. Hell my favourite ff game is X on PlayStation 2 besides that I enjoyed XII and XIII and it's spin offs

I wish it was My Way by Limp Bizkit, honestly could have worked just as well

The game might be unintentionally hilarious but the end credit is great 🥲

if this gets good i hope they make a sequel
