Because I receive a bunch of comments regarding my Craft Carver Collab with Liam Hoffman:
Nothing has changed. I'm still fully behind our partnership.
This axe is a good 100g heavier and a completely different shape. It's like comparing different cars.
So I felt like there was more designs I wanted to manifest. That's all.
Hey you Spooncarvers and Bushcrafters!
It is finally here!
Let me introduce you to my newest tool design. I always wanted to add a light and nimble axe, based on my most favorite proportions and style to the lineup. 11 months after starting my partnership with Svarogych in Kharkiv, Ukraine, countless drawings, video conferences, virtual tours through the facility to create trust in good work conditions and of course a load of prototypes later, I am very proud and grateful to present the second in a line of tools that are available from my website now and soon to come.

    then you probably dont own one.... I do... so I of course didnt include all the things I dont like about the karlsson axe. It is a sweet axe but I got enough experience as carver and having owned most possible axes to be able to create my own line with specific proportions.... and if you knew anything about me, then you wouldn´t think that I´d use someone elses design.

    @@woodsmansfinest3814 ... Sure, could you explain the "humpback" on the dorsal haft at the shoulder. Does it assist with grasping, or provide strength, or more decorative? None of my Gransfors or Council Tools have this. My Kalthoff has a slight bump but fits well in my hand. I like a chunky handle which require less grasping force with arthritis. Is the blade flat ground?

  • @woodsmansfinest3814

    @woodsmansfinest3814

    @@bluesideup007 blade flat of course. 30 degrees. The hump... Well... Look at old felling axes that aren't press fit by machines like GB and CT. If that hump is too small and too close to the eye it can leading to over driving in traditional hanging. It is smaller than it seems and your hand cradles the entire head on push cuts. In regular carving strikes the hand has nothing to do up there anyways. Be assured that is isn't in the way... I carve more than most... Why would I keep it there otherwise?

    It's hard for me to say... If you are only looking to do spoons and aren't used to an axe, let alone a bugger axe yet, the Wayfarer is perfect for you. The heat treat is better than anything I've ever encountered. The head design is very balanced and conducive to accuracy despite the light weight. The JourneyMan on the other hand is an over all stock removal axe, no matter what you do. Either will hold its value and they very much complete each other so I'd get the Wayfarer and the JourneyMan in a year or so from now. Cheers

    Because of a war? In Ukraine? Where my partners forge it? Where I went 7 months ago to forge and optimise designs and now everyone is in combat... A little consideration please. Any reason you've left nothing but mean comments today? Wanna ask yourself if me as a free content creator and full timer trying to make a living from my craft deserve it to receive this kind of crap from a person not having to pay a dime for my info, work and entertainment. Some of the videos are age old and I did my best at the time. I don't see any work on your side. Any putting yourself out there, sharing, helping, educating. So what do you know? Again, do I really deserve this or did you just choose to put your bad mood onto someone out there just to feel superior. One reason why being a content creator is causing mental health issues a lot. Because we are making ourselves vulnerable and people exploit that

    Dear Woodsman - I think you are doing me an injustice; I didn't mean to be mean but here is the problem: I am a South African State Pensioner I'm 65) who wants to start spoon making. I am pretty certain about my actual _carving_ tools - I want the Beavercraft S13. But I'm not certain about the axe yet. Things like the Gransfors are _totally_ out of my reach. And I can't afford to screw up and have to buy another one because there are a few other things I want to buy as well. And when you said good for children and women I got very excited and immediately went on to Google and it said 'Not Available'. I don't know why buy, well, that's that. Although it sounds like a wonderful axe. And I'm sorry if you thought I was mean - I _often_ watch your videos and enjoy them.
