My Travel Experience as a Solo Black Woman in Split || Ariventuras in Croatia 🇭🇷

#SoloTravel #DigitalNomad #TravelAdventures #BlackInCroatia
This is my travel experience visiting Croatia as a solo black woman traveler. I stayed in Split for the majority of my month-long stay in the country, taking day trips to visit Dubrovnik and other towns and islands nearby.
This video is solely my personal experience and shouldn't deter you from visiting any country for yourself. Thanks for watching!

Looks like a beautiful country with a good balance of nature & city!! I understand that underwhelming feeling, as it seems to be more for relaxing and sights-seeing. I'll have to add it on my bucket list, maybe for a long layover, nothing longer because I get so anxious about a lack of diversity. Thanks for sharing girl !!

Yes, it is VERY relaxing lol. You'll love it because you're such a beach girl but I agree a long layover would be best. Especially if you're looking to meet other solo travelers. Thanks for watching chica! 😊

Croatia wasn't on my travel list but I'm intrigued by it so let's see if I go. I don't like the idea of travelling anywhere where there isn't a diverse ethnic population. However, i realise that it really is about the experience, feeling confident in yourself, and engaging with others and learning about the culture. Every country I've been to - Ghana, Mexico, Morocco, Seychelles, Cuba etc. there have been quite diverse communities. looking forward to watching more of your vlogs thank you 🙂

I'm glad to hear this inspired you to consider adding Croatia to your bucket list. It really is a beautiful country and a unique experience in itself. I think having an idea of what you can expect (especially as a Black woman) helps a lot. That's my goal with sharing these vlogs. If you do ever make the trip, I hope you enjoy it!

Hi!! So for someone who is introverted do you think this is a great destination? I love the “quiet -to-myself” type of atmospheres. You give off extrovert vibes lol so I’m just wondering!

Haha that’s so funny! I’m actually a HUGE introvert 😅 I just know how to be extroverted when I need to. I think you could be comfortable traveling to any destination, it’s really the type of events and activities you do that make the difference. So I wouldn’t advise you to go on a cruise or traveling for a huge event like a concert. Instead look for private or small group tours. Try finding activities you can do that don’t require lots of social interaction, like visiting a museum or taking a cooking class. I spend a lot of time in nature too, reading at a park or just walking around exploring. If you need other ideas, check out my travel guides for more activity suggestions. All in all though, the beach is usually a great place to keep to yourself, so Croatia, Curaçao, and Puerto Vallarta may be some destinations you would like!

I appreciated your vlog and Croatia is on my list of places to visit since I’ve heard nothing but good things. My only concern is that you mention the lack of diversity and seem surprised at the racial/ethnic makeup of the population. When I visit countries in certain parts of Europe, I don’t expect to find diversity; I anticipate being the only minority and as long as I am treated kindly and fairly, I am perfectly fine with that.

I’ve visited other EU countries as well. Croatia was just the most homogenous country I’ve visited. I shared the stats not because I was surprised but as reasoning to why being there for an entire month felt so dull. Even the Croatians that I met who were around my age kept asking me why I was there for so long lol. I didn’t expect such a heavy older crowd and although the country is majority white I thought there’d at least be more white people from other parts of the world.

I do agree with you to a certain degree, from the time you went there and now, so many black and other races moved into the country. Especially in the capital, every third person you encounter is either Asian or dark skinned. Sorry, I don't mean to be rude but, I can't shake the feeling if you felt like standing out, it's due to your personal insecurities, rather than being a black woman. I would expect you to think about people, not races. Ultimately, the whole video felt racist.

It's unfortunate you feel that way. The statistics I shared are facts. You can find them on Google, along with the definition of "racist". Just because you don't like something doesn't mean it isn't true. Thanks for watching!

@@Ariventuras You missed the point of my comment completely. Statistics or not, one doesn't travel around for the sake of the race. I can not travel to Nigeria and cry about how there the majority are black people.

I don't travel for the sake of race - anyone can see that from the places I've been to. You missed the point of my video but that just means it wasn't meant for you 🙂

Interesting how you just assume you know how old I am or the fact that I choose where I travel to based on race. If that was the case, why would I go to Croatia in the first place? 🤔 Your comment is a perfect example of what they say about assuming...
