So glad to hear that Lalo is alright. Based on experience, it's so scary when something happens to a bird. They are extremely sensitive, & you just never know how things are going to end. By the way, his happy noises are so adorable! Can't wait to hear about the aviary updates.

I've been a patron for about 4 years now. This is a great toucan rescue & is rare. Not many people know how to rehabilitate and raise an exotic bird like this. I have a 501(3)c myself, but I don't have the knowledge to rescue exotic birds. ✌️❤️❤️❤️

Very glad that his toe recovered! Injuries to birds are so darn scary. One of my blue crown conures lost a toe because of another bird's bite a few years ago so I know the kind of stress you went through. Her injury was more severe, I think. The bird that bit her, a Senegal parrot, has a very strong bite and it broke the bone as well as lacerating the skin over half way around. He was clipped but had shed some of the feathers and the still growing new feathers gave him more lift than I was expecting. He took off and managed to fly over half way across the living room to "tackle" her as she was preening, completely oblivious to any threat. I got to them quick but he had already bitten her. We tried to save the toe by splinting it but it didn't work out and it had to come off. She came through it really well though it had to be one of her good toes that wasn't previously injured and/or arthritic. She was somewhere around 30 years old at the time and her feet had taken a beating before I adopted her. She can't climb as good now but she perches well. She is sitting on my shoulder as I type preening the side of my face. And gosh the noises that Lalo makes when you are petting him are cute! Such a handsome boy he is!

Thankfully I don't think Rhia was trying to hurt him or anything and it was just a series of unfortunate events. It didn't break the bone but it did dislocate part of it. I'm sorry to hear about your incident as well.

I never noticed before, that his third eyelid is also blue… absolutely stunning 😍 Do the other Can’s have colored third eyelids that match the surrounding eye color? If they do, could you show it in a video? And is there a reason for the matching color? I’m so curious! It’s so beautiful! Thank you for the update.

The third eyelid is called a nictitating membrane and is usually similar in color to their skin. Lalo has blue toned skin under his feathers. Rhias is also blueish.

Lalo is such a pretty boy :) You look great too, Brock. Hardworking toucan man, our super hero!

I have 4 parrots here now so have to be careful about having them out or near each other's cages. Even the tiny green cheek Conure can give a nasty little bite. My Maxi Pionus can give a very nasty bite and they tend to hang on and grind like a pit bull. Luckily he chooses not to bite but I've had Maxis before and they can bite fast and hard when they mean it.

my new conure does a breeding or nesting bwhavior once he finds a nice warm tunel in my blanket kinda interesting to watch.when i had my parakeets 1 of them some how lost a toenail complete and unfortunately i was at work and it didnt make it qhe i arrived at home. sad to see bot sure whe it lost the toenail. still a mystery. but i do hope he does ok i know birds are good at hidding how they are feeling sick wise. please be cautious.

havnt been able to catch up on ur videos Brock still trying to catch up lol been trying to work with my bird he is onry a bit. he is unfortunately not treat oriented so iv just been letting him come to me with patience kinda like what u do with ur gorgous toucans. :) i do hope ur days are going well and hope u can relax a little bit it is no fun being stressed and out of energy.
