Absolutely grateful for explaining the film simulations for viewers like me to understand. It helped me greatly to appreciate the variations as well. Thank you
Thanks, Jay. I really enjoyed the creativity of this vid. You've got a good touch with both the video editing and of course the stills. Inspiring. Hope you continue to create.
Beautiful video Jay!! Well directed is an understatement. 4 of my favorite film sims are the same except for classic chrome, will try out your version of CC.
Great video, immediately subscribed. Love how you aren't the usual cliché lofi beats photography channel
Can't say enough good things about your videos! Clear, concise, easy to follow with lots of great examples. Thank you!
Well done 👍🏼….really enjoyed your reasoning for tweaking the sims and can’t wait to try them out.
Pro Neg Hi is my 2nd favorite in the current lineup. The boosted contrast is a welcome addition in urban settings. I find the saturation is a nice middle ground of classic chrome and provia also. Great video, Jay!

Spot on Dom, when I discovered this I couldn't unsee it 😂
I like how you talked about each simulation. Nice work, thank you.
Very informative Jay, with lots of thought going into how to make a rather confusing subject understandable. I like your no frills style, unlike some others who are more interested in their own ego.
This was so relaxing and enjoyable to watch, thanks for sharing
Man this is the perfect video I’ve been looking for ! Thanks ! Love the content, photographs shown and advices ! You got a new follower !

That Acros simulation looks awesome man, definitely need to give it a go.
Great vid jay!!! I find classic neg works v nice in bushland with lots of greens. Love the mood of this video and informative too!!!!

Thanks Alan! Classic Neg does have some more green tones if I'm not mistaken
Thanks for sharing this information, it’s very helpful.
Brilliant stuff! Thanks!
Jay, I really enjoy your videos more and more. You developed so much during the past few months imho! Thanks for sharing your favorites! I stick with Classic Chrome yet but also add color +3 because otherwise I find it too dull. Cheers mate!

Thanks for the support Kamil! Yes classic chrome can be a bit desaturated for colorful scenes
Amazing video man! Loved the intro and the editing, so creative! Totally agree with your list especially what you said about pro negative being overlooked as it definitely needs more attention. As for me I’ve predominantly used Acros red and yellow this year, the noir vibes and contrast makes it all nice!

Hopefully get to see more fuji shooters hop on the pro neg recipes in 2022 :) me too man, acros red has been too addictive!
Great video and photos. I've been using variations of classic chome and Acros. I am going to try all your recipes and especially the pro neg. Its a cloudy rainy day here in Pittsburgh, PA so I'm looking forward to seeing what I get.I'm also looking for a nice monochrome to use on my X-E2.
@JayRegular
2 жыл бұрын
Thanks John! The monochrome recipe in this video is a bit specialised and is much more suited to JPEG only shooting due to it's WB shift (which may make RAWs look strange). But I'm constantly experimenting and still trying to find and easier and good looking recipe
Thanks a lot! Like the "Heavy" BW!
Great video, I love the presentations of the film simulation first followed by an extension of their beauty through the recipe, I can't wait to try each one of them. As a bartender my favourite is Velvia, it takes crazy night club photos.

Hi. Just came across your channel. I love your style of presenting & really enjoy the images. You’ve got a new subscriber too. 😊
great video,and great photos too
An attractive presentation, with a nod to Terence Malick's The Thin Red Line at the end...
Great video I love tris simulation recipe and I use now always Classic Chrome for me 😉
Thanks for these.
Hey your videos are improving and relaxing! Keep it up brother.

Wow very impressed education for me. For me is difficult since I am from the Stone Age. My perspective on Fujifilm it’s go with the personality expressions. Thanks for sharing
Great shots :)
Lovely photos! I was wondering which would you use for night time shooting?
This is fantastic! I'm super new to Fujifilm and seeing somebody posting about it with their experiences in Sydney is fantastic! Would love to connect on socials sometime!

Excellent video. Thanks for sharing your settings, really appreciated. I seem to have settled on Classic Negative and Acros+R for now, but am going to check out some of the others having seen your results. Here's hoping inspiration returns in 2022!

The great thing is all of the film simulations (maybe besides sepia and monochrome) can work really well in any weather or envrionment, but some just work better as a base than others, without the need to tweak it too much
Nice video Jay. I just use basic Astia but I’m not switching to raw + JPG where the latter is a recipe. Usually X weekly but I’ll give yours a go soon

I know some people just use recipes to get certain look through the viewfinder. Yeh DM me some shots when you get around to it 👍
Great video and insights, thanks! I've found that in the last 3-4 months I've been using ProNeg in almost all of my edits. Looking forward to trying your tweaks to the simulation. As you do more of these, it would be great to hear what you see your tweaks do for the photo.

Great Video😊👍✨
Fantastic video! Amazing street photography, Jay! Thank you for sharing your recipes. I'm anxious to try them out. There is never a dull moment when shooting with the X100 V. So many recipes to try with all those beautiful film simulations. One of my favourites is Acros + R. Basically the same as your recipe but I choose grain effect off. I've shot film on very high ISO film for that effect for years, but now I'm going the other way. I'll get back to you on some of my fav. settings as well.
@JayRegular

Thankyou Lucy! It awesome how close you can get to BW film stocks with the acros simulation. Of course, you can't replicate the grain of film but everything else is awesome!
damn son. You saved some absolute bangers for this video.

Nice🎉🎉
could you help me find a recipe for that 1990s film look ?
I'll have to give Pro Neg more of a try. But I used Acros+R the most, and then it would've been Astia but Velvia edged it out just. And of course, Nostalgic Negative
@JayRegular

Nostalgic negative is a privilege aps-c scrubs i.e. me don't get access to. But fake it till you make it with classic negative.

Everything is said in the comments before.I will try every single one of your five recipes, too. But as I usually struggle with VELVIA, I want to give a special thanks for the background information on how and when to use it best. definitely will try it out in the field 🙏
heavy looks nice as well! but my favourite is velvia in 2021 !!
@JayRegular

Velvia has been my biggest surprise of 2021! I didn't think I would use it that much, I was so wrong
My favorites are Astia and Acros Red (both @ stock settings with NR: -4) ... I really don't like Classic Chrome (too dull for my taste).
Can you believe that I haven't tried any of the film simulations yet? 😂 Thanks to your video, I might have a play.

You can always apply the film simulations to your raw photos on the computer using the Fuji X raw studio application 👍
Great video. Definitely have to try your film simulation recipes. I love Classic Negative since it's super versatile. On my xt2 I like classic chrome and Pro neg Standard
@JayRegular
2 жыл бұрын
Classic Negative is a great base too, and a popular base to use for a lot of "film-like" recipes. Pro Neg standard is a great sim that I think feels the most natural (more so than provia)
Awesome video bro.🔥👍 No need to edit those photos. 👏Been looking for film simulation videos, just got my xs10 23mm f2. Im. Not that good in editing so with these simulations, it's good to go😊😊😊

do you need to have the film pre set or can you take a picture then apply a film sim after?

You can take a raw photo and apply the film sim later either in camera or on the computer using Fuji X raw studio

The curves red and blue in Astia simulation, must be left at zero?
Does color chrome, FX and WB shift even do anything when shooting in Acros?
@JayRegular
2 жыл бұрын
Assuming that acros+r makes blues darker and reds lighter; color chrome will enhance saturation of colours, chrome FX blue will enhance blue saturation, and wb shift can change certain colours in the shadows midtones and highlights to another hue... It should alter/affect the look when converted to BW
