Great comment “we are a guest in the animals habitat”. So good you emphasise ethical behaviour.

It's very important for sure and it often reads to better photos after respecting the animals.
Informative& beautiful. 😍The behind the scenes shots of you at work, very cool. THANK YOU for talking about Ethical Treatment. It should go without saying but unfortunately it does need to be said. 🌱✌💚

Thank you very much. I’m glad you enjoyed them and yes!! One day I hope
Well said Andrew .. the things some people do to get the shot 🙈🙄… ethics are important but seldom seen of late . Thankfully there are like minded individuals out there . I photograph much of Zimbabwe and there national parks . Mana pools being my favourite , mostly because you can walk around with the freedom without people and vehicles . But only because I grew up in Zimbabwe and have had extensive bush experience with the wildlife, but I do recommend this to anyone but with a walking guide if you not familiar with the bush and the wildlife . I really enjoy your channel , keep up these interesting blogs ! Thanks again Andrew . Hamba gashle ( go well ) !

Wow. Thank you so much for the lovely comment! Yeah I was trained in a way to be very ethical thankfully. I often shoot in lower Zambezi and hope to cross the river to mana pools one day! Thanks again
Excellent video with so many good tips that I can’t wait to apply when doing animal shots in the future. Thank you!

Enjoyed the day-in-the-life theme on safari from your other videos and learned great tips on this one. Flying to Tanzania in a week. Will make sure to look at the wonderful world outside my camera's viewfinder too. Subscribed and look forward to learning from your experience as a photographer.

Thanks for watching and commenting!! A longer lens would be great if possible. Maybe you can get a 1.4 teleconverter for your current lens? Best quality would be to rent a lens if possible tho.
Thank you. Brilliant tips

Glad I could help 😀
Been watching your and others’ videos about wildlife photography. Animals seem too friendly ;) too my surprise. Your tips help. I am just about to get a 100-500 lens and hope to go to my first African safari next year.

Hi there. Thanks for watching. Animals on safari are generally very “friendly” they mostly go about their business without paying much attention to humans. They aren’t always friendly to each other tho 😀
Hi andrew. James in Scotland here. I would want to do insect macro and environment photos. Great videos mate. What do think. Beat regards.

Insect macro photography is like another world. I don’t know a huge amount about it to be honest. It might be possible to do when on safari. I do know that some of the incredible insect macro shots you see can be staged, sometimes even with dead insects!
I love this learning video, so helpful and you picked out a lot of things that I do wrong. I'm going to be with a group and I hope it's small if not I will I will take your best tip go by myself. What are some of your favorite spots in Kenya & Tanzania to see if that's one of my stops? I have got to take your main advice and learn my settings quickly. Thanks I'm going to find more of your teaching video. Peace 🦁🦒🦓

Would love to hear your thoughts on bird photography settings wise. We get a lot of snowy owls where im at in the winter
@AndrewMacdonaldPhotography

Hi there. Thanks for the comment. The general principle remains the same. Low aperture, select the shutter speed depending on the birds movement and allow the auto iso to do its thing. If the bird is sitting still then you can shoot slower speeds around 1/100 if you’re steady and then if the bird is in flight then increase that shutter speed to something like 1/2500 or faster. It depends how much light you have to play with really.
Yep mate need more videos about ISO,aperture … Thanks a lot …
Great ! i like it friend

I recently got a 100-500mm lens and am considering also getting a 1.4 teleconverter-how often do you find yourself shooting beyond 500mm?
@AndrewMacdonaldPhotography
3 ай бұрын
I shoot above 500 quite regularly. In some cases it can be 50/50 between my 400mm and my 200-600. In use the 400mm as much as I can then the 200-600 for wider or tighter shots
