Yayyyy!!! So happy to hear this!! Welcome to our little dip community! 🫶🏻💕
I’ve learned a lot from watching your KZread videos so far. You explain everything great, go into detail and review a wide variety. I’m just starting the at home dip journey. I was wondering if you had any suggestions for dip liquids for natural fragile nails.. I so far haven’t had any reactions to gel or dip. I’ve never had a dip top coat though due to designs. The nail salon always did gel. I was thinking of sticking to gel because I hate waiting for them to dry. Unless you have a suggestion for a liquid set. You review so many brands and I’m indecisive so I’m struggling to settle and invest into one. I figured I’d reach out and see if you had any recommendations.
The other thing that helps when using a clear dip powder to finish it off is it keeps your activator clear! Mine used to turn color before I used clear dip no matter how much I wiped off the brush, and it would ruin light colored manis.

I rewatch your Dos & Donts every time I do my nails. I am slowly improving. How do you know when each layer of dip is dry? Should I wait a certain amount of time?
@SipAndDip
Жыл бұрын
It varies for each liquid on how long it will take to dry. So I would suggest waiting until you’ve done both of your hands before dusting off. If there’s a shine on the nail or a tacky look then it’s still wet. If you find that when you’re dusting off that it’s still wet or sticking to the dusting brush, then I would suggest dipping back into the jar on each of the nails and then dust off. There isn’t necessarily a set time to wait because it varies so much on the liquid, if you have a fan running nearby etc. But I’ve been asked this question pretty often lately so I think I’ll try to form it into a video for you all! 🫶🏻
That is so much work 😳
ok teach you make it easy for a newbie thank you

A few things that have changed my dip game: 1.REVEL SENSITIVE LIQUIDS-Used to get HORRIBLE DIP FLU EVERY time-NOW NONE😮! 2.Gel Topcoat- even before I got the sensitive liquids I could never get the regular dip top to work decent for me so I'd file, MINIMALY buff, do a layer of gel base(do not wipe dispersion-keep tacky) and then go in w/no wipe gel top.Works great for me. 3.REMOVAL-Warm rice trick(Until I saw Marla Kris do this, I had no clue)Never knew that WARM ACETONE works ten times faster than NOT WARM!!(lots of YT tutorials on this) This hack ALONE saved me from giving up on dipping!It used to take me an HOUR(30MIN PER HAND) to completely remove a dip mani(including buff off top to start)!Now i can remove BOTH hands in just under 15 minutes! GAME CHANGER for ANY removal-not just Dip Powder!
How long should it take for the top coats to fully dry? Can you use LED curing topcoat? After watching this, I'm excited to try my dip powders again!
Can you use a no chip topcoat over these for that extra super shine and sealant?
Do you have recommendations for nails that always lift?
Thank you for all your videos. I am learning so much! I was wondering, after the buffing at the end, you apply one last layer applicator and then you wipe with a clean lint free napkin to make sure there is no activator, could you wipe with alcohol too to be 100% sure all activator is removed or would that ruin it? Thank you so much
@SipAndDip
Жыл бұрын
Great question 🫶🏻 I have heard of others doing the rubbing alcohol and it seems to have a mixed response. I personally do not do this because from my understanding we need the activator to help the top coat properly dry and adhere. So my worry would be that rubbing alcohol is removing it. Totally optional on if you’d like to experiment and try though 🥰
I’m a novice and learning so much from your videos. 😊Can you please tell me your favorite brand of liquids and powders?? Using nailboo but not sure if I should stick with it. Thank you!!!

Hi Chelsea, how long does it take for the second layer of dip top coat to dry? Do you wait till the 1st layer is completely dry to apply the 2nd? I can’t figure out why my top coat always take a long time to dry.
@SipAndDip
Жыл бұрын
For revel’s liquids the 1st top coat dries fairly quick. I’d say after about a minute or so. And then I go in for the 2nd. The second top coat for Revel dries within a few minutes. Not long at all! Each brand usually has different steps on when to wait for the 2nd. I believe Sparkle and Co glossy coat 2.0 suggests to go right in after the 1st layer. My go to routine is after 2nd activator to wait 2 min and wipe with a dry napkin/lint free wipe. My first layer of top coat is 3 quick strokes and then once it’s dry I do a more detailed layer.
Why does my top coat brush get hard as a rock? I’ve let activator dry but only on second dip mani I’ve burned through two top coat brushes…
Wonderful video. Could you do tips and tricks for non dominant hand? I really struggle with mine.

You can absolutely do a dip powder fill! 🫶🏻 I would suggest filing down the top coat and some of the product. The major thing would be to check for any lifting. If there is any lifting then remove that before doing the fill. Then prep your exposed nail plate (push back cuticles, remove shine, dehydrator etc). Then you can dip right on top again doing full layers as normal! 🥰

Great tips! Beautiful color. I tried using less product (mainly base) on my brush as you've suggested many times, but what I've found is that I quite often ended up with "bald spots" on my sidewalls. Like, I'd go to apply the dip, and there would be clear spots where I didn't get enough product. I'm always trying to be cautious of getting product on my skin that I feel like I don't hit the sides enough. So, I end up having to leave a little more base on my brush but then sometimes get it on my skin! lol Any suggestions?

i've been practicing with dip recently on a practice finger and i've found that the amount of base depends of how long/wide the nail is. I totally understand what you mean! There’s definitely a “happy” medium between too much and too little. You could also try once you go over the entire nail, grab a little bit more base on your brush again and go back over one more time quickly before dipping to make sure it’s fully coated! Sometimes it can help to try other liquids too. A thinner consistency liquid is more likely to move to your skin. You may enjoy a thicker consistency liquid (revel is one for example) because it’s less likely to run all over the place. I would definitely keep playing with how much you keep on your brush though! You may just need to leave a tad bit more and wipe it off as needed if it feels like there’s too much on there 🫶🏻 I hope this makes sense!
@CherieKing
Жыл бұрын

How do you keep the bottle clean? Revel brand seemed to be the worse for the brush and bottle getting hard and stuck - if that makes sense?!

The base and top coat contaminating can be so frustrating 😵💫🫶🏻 to prevent that I wipe both the base + top coat brush off on a napkin, front and back, after each time it touches my nail, before returning it back to the bottle to get more product. Then when I’m done with the manicure I wipe the bottle neck off (both base + top) with a dry napkin or paper towel to remove excess liquid so the liquids don’t get sealed shut. I also try to be careful to not let the brushes touch my skin because the oils can contaminate it and so can the activator. I have a video that goes more into depth as well if you run into any troubles 🫶🏻 kzread.info/dash/bejne/aqWt0ZOtXbmugKw.html
This video came just in time, I'm ordering my first dip powder kit in a few days! I do have a few questions though. If I use plastic nail tips, how would I prep them for the dip powder? Do I have to use dip powder top coats or can I use a UV gel top coat?
@ashleyroberts4555
Жыл бұрын
I use a gel top coat over my dip nails. The thing I learned from Chelsea is to put a layer of gel base & cure then do your gel top. Because we file & buff our powder smooth sometimes the gel top can peel off, using base helps that. I actually haven’t had peeling doing it this way

Hiiii! Welcome to our little dip community 🫶🏻 for the plastic tips I would suggest shaping your free edge natural nails, push back your cuticles, gently buff your natural nails to remove shine and dust off. Apply a dehydrator. Size the tips to make sure they fit and are not on your skin. Then once you adhere the tip to the nail blend down the ridge where it meets the nail. You can use either dip or gel! Totally up to you! 🫶🏻 I also agree with Ashley if you use a gel top coat 🥰 after you file/shape cleanse with rubbing alcohol (skip 2nd activator). Then apply gel base and cure 60 sec. Then gel top coat and cure 60 sec. The gel base is optional but can help prevent peeling! Happy dipping!

🤣🫶🏻 that’s totally okay!! You may want to try the pour over method with darker shades to prevent staining on the skin/cuticle area. Sometimes with dipping into the jar, I notice the staining is more prominent. You got this! 🙌🏼
Do you use alcohol between last layer of activator and topcoat?
@SipAndDip
Жыл бұрын
Nope! Just a dry napkin. The top coat needs the 2nd activator to properly dry so I don’t want to necessarily “remove” the activator. A dry napkin just makes sure there isn’t any excess.
This method works like gel nails or like a regular nail polish? How much it's harden? I'm beginner too..
@SipAndDip

This is like acrylic nails 💓 dip powder is finely milled acrylic that is applied with dip powder liquids instead of monomer + brush. It also has the same hardness/thickness as acrylic. So it’s much more durable then nail polish and gel polish in my opinion ✨

Hi, i am doing my nails using your tips. The only issue I run into is cracking. If I only do 3 coats to keep them thin it happens in a couple of days (even or short nails). Help!

So sorry to hear about the cracking 🫶🏻 have you tried building up an apex so it’s still thin and natural around your cuticle area? That should help with cracking at your free edge because it will give it strength 🥰
Hi, with these Dip Kits, can you use a electric nail dryer?

Hi there! Just to understand, do you mean electric nail drill? 🫶🏻 the dip powder is an air dry and hardens with the activator so no dryer is needed 💖
Do you need to use the build powder before color? Just wondering why some people use it and some people do, what is the pros and cons of build powder?
@SipAndDip

Totally optional and personal preference. Those with longer nails may use it to build an apex for strength. If someone experiences chipping it could also be a good idea. Some advertise it as a way to avoid staining but I’ve only experienced nail staining like twice from a poorly made product. So ultimately it’s based on personal preference, lifestyle, and nail length 🫶🏻
I have a question do you ever take breaks from dipping and leave your natural nail if yes for how long do you do our breaks. im taking a break from dipping to let my natural nails grow and shape and also to get strong too

Yes I do! I typically leave them naked 90% of the time actually! I use peel base and pop them off within a day and don’t apply dip powder until I’m ready to film again. I don’t leave it on anymore 🩷 however, you could totally do a set and then do fills if you were wanting the strength on your natural nails but not keep soaking in acetone or buffing the natural nail 🥰
Hi Chelsea! Can you recommend another Precision Tool? Amber at Color My World has sold out. Thank you.

Ahhh I’m sorry to hear that! I just checked another small shop (Marullo) and it looks like they’re out too. Here’s a link to a set on Amazon! I haven’t personally purchased this exact one to say for sure but it looks identical 🫶🏻 amzn.to/45Is1lj
What was the first thing you put on to help when removing the dip powder ?

Peel base! It lets me pop the dip powder off without soaking in acetone. The only downfall is you don’t know when the nails will lift and sometimes it can happen quickly (like 1-3 days later). Here’s a more in depth vid on the product 🫶🏻 kzread.info/dash/bejne/mmiWtMObidu6mNI.html
Hi Chelsea, thank you for your inspiring video! I always like to improve my manicure so this helps a lot 😊🙏 Now I have a question, I’m using a dipping system with a Base Powder, and last time I tried to do the first Apex-step with this base, but it didn’t work well and after only 3 days some nails started chipping. Would you use this base for a fuller coverage and after start the Apex with the color powder? Or is this base not really necessary…? Thank you for helping me 😍💅🏻 Alice 🖖

You can build an apex up with either the base or color! Totally up to you! 🫶🏻 where did your chipping happen? For example, square shapes are prone to chipping at the corners. So for a square shape I would focus on building an apex in those areas. Start the first layer cover the full corner to corner free edge. I’m not sure if you’ve seen this other video I made but it goes over building an apex with different nail shapes 🥰 kzread.info/dash/bejne/qJx23JWqZNXPmco.html

@@SipAndDip Thank you a lot for your answer 🥰 I’ll try it other way next time! Referring your question - my nail shape is almond so the chipping started at the very tip of my nails. I have also the feeling that the mani lasts longer with new liquids, mine are nearly empty so maybe it’s time to change the bottles 😄 wish you all the best and take care 😘🫶

Is a clear acrylic powder the same as clear dip? Only because that’s what I have at home. Or should I order some clear dip powder now too.

Technically yes! Dip powder can be more finely milled than traditional acrylic sometimes. However, it should work the same! 💓
Every time I apply the second and third coat of the base, the powder that’s on my nail is brushed off from the base brush. What am I doing wrong? Do I need to wait for the powder to dry? If so, how does it dry without the activator? I love this video btw!

I agree with you, it sounds as though the base liquid + powder isn’t dry yet. Which brand of base liquid are you using? Some base liquids dry slower than others. I would try dipping each nail back into the jar again before dusting off. And then maybe try a fluffy brush as well until you’re able to gauge how long the layers are taking to dry
The salon uses a white powder basecoat. Can you recommend one for me please?

Is the powder clear on the nail or fully white? 🫶🏻
Holy crap! I’ve been doing my own nails (polish, gel, powder) on and off for 10+ years….. I always thought the nail file numbers were like eye sight!!!! Like 20/20, 80/20!!!! I didn’t realize each number corresponds with a different side!!!! I am an idiot.
Do I need a base coat for dip? And if not can I wipe with rubbing alcohol and a lint free wipe?

Hi there! Are you asking if you need a gel base or dip base coat? 🫶🏻 traditionally, with dip powder liquids it is a dip powder base coat, activator and dip powder top coat 💕
