Most of the things I buy are from estate sales, even art supplies, I do buy new shoes because I have very small feet and San Diego thrift stores never seem to carry my small size feet at 6.5 and I am plus sized so it’s a struggle with clothes.

The hat is from an old Salvation Army uniform, I would guess back in the 20s or 30s. The general in charge of the Salvation Army at the time was a woman, and she actually rocked some pretty cool uniforms (in addition to being one of the most influential women in the world at the time).

Laura, after weeks of watching your videos, I have learned so much. I have been thrifting, and I have gotten so much better at it. I had lost weight right before Covid, and donated 3/4 of my clothing. Then lockdown happened, and I lived with less then 1/4 of my clothes. I have now been thrifting, and thrifted all my summer clothes, plus another tip I took from you is looking at off season clothing. I have thrifted the best winter tops, and now working on my winter wardrobe. I have saved so much money, beautiful pieces for a few dollars. A whole new world has opened up to me…. NO more fast fashion for me, I can’t believe the quality of vintage clothing… I’m ADDICTED… I have purchased everything from Goodwill and my local thrift store…. Yesterday I found a beautiful black leather mint crossbody for $4…. I just want to say Thank you…. I enjoyed your closet tour, I am drooling over your beautiful clothes, and accessories❤️

Hi, I’m Dutch and I live close to Volendam. It is a little fisherman place, very beautiful and traditional... I wish you could visit someday... it is gorgeous... the girl in the plate is wearing the typical head dress from Volendam... the typical clothes and jewelry that belong to the women in the area are beautiful too, some of them they wear them still every day, they are very proud of their heritage. 🌷🌷🌷

That multicolored clutch handbag looks like a "Corde" style or "corded embroidery" handbag, which were made from a corded/braided type of heavy thread that was sewn down on a fabric backing to create the design. This was a machine made product made from about the 1930's through the 1950's. It was meant to recreate the look of the hand crafted style of "tambour" embroidery. They often came in black, brown, navy, but also in "rainbow" which were multicolored. Several companies produced this type of bag. Some lines had wonderful Lucite zipper pulls and purse frames (these are my favorite). On another note, I would say your billed hat with a cross on it is an antique Salvation Army Uniform Hat... Lastly, I would say that anyone such a generosity of spirit and genuine enjoyment for what they do can never really be a braggart, just someone who really enjoys sharing t with others...

The mutli color bag is a corde or cordé bag. They started to be made in the 1920's and were still popular in the 1950's. Your multi color or rainbow bag is rather rare, as most were black or navy. It is made from gimp rayon corde sewn to fabric. What a great gift!

I just recently found your channel and have been binge-watching it for the last two days. We have similar tastes. Thank you for saying it's okay to not be a minimalist. Here recently the last few years there has been such a big push to be a minimalist not only in social media but it's influenced a lot of my friends and while that's their jam it's really placed a lot of guilt on me. and kinda ticked me off. To be clear I keep everything clear and clean but have been told if I got rid of my collections I would feel better because there would be so much open space and blank walls. As a person who has worked at thrift stores, and an antique store, and comes from a family of artists that's torture. Your closet was beautifully done and the trinket boxes and display bowls were a great inspiration. Thank you for the time and thoughtfulness that you put into your videos, they give the rest of us the opportunity to love what we have and not feel ashamed of it.

All I know is that you would love my closet and the things I collect, because I love yours! We have a lot of the same taste. I’m almost total boho in the way I dress. Been dressing that way for close to 35 years. I have 100 pairs of boots, umpteen crochet vests and crochet/lace cardigan type toppers, boho skirts and I am a total jacket ho. I’m an animal print addict too. I need to do a video showing my clothing, boots and jewelry. Most thrifted. I was thrifting before it was acceptable. Now I can’t find crap because everyone is doing it. EBay is my friend. 🥰😉

During the Chinese cultural revolution of the 60s and 70s it was considered illegal to be in possession of antique porcelain, so much was broken and thrown away...later in the eighties a Chinese family began a business collecting and making the broken pieces into shard boxes...I also have one and I love knowing that there isn't another like it, as no two are the same. Most of the 'shards' are hundreds years old, some thousands. Rather sad when you think about it, but I'm glad that these pieces of history get to have another life and be appreciated for how beautiful they are 😊🖤

I came of age in the 60’s so you are speaking my language. I love that you love what you do. Your personality shines in these videos. Thanks for sharing! The old Coach bag was when they rehabbed their old bags for free. I had one redone. Those were the days.

This video is my favorite, I absolutely loved the jewelry “armoire”, the red bag, the embroidered (wow!) boots, the silver jewelry and the kimono with orchids (wow!) ❤ I’m a huge fan of orchids; yeah. What I saw here was respect and TLC of vintage clothing and jewelry pieces, things with history, and not just a collecting for the sake of collecting sort of things. You showed me the whole new dimension, Laura. Thank you so much and warm greetings from Ukraine 🇺🇦

I pride myself on having a very minimal, simple wardrobe with just a few well loved accessories. But I have NEVER been so inspired to incorporate unique pieces (read: something other than simple solid tops and jeans) into my wardrobe. You have some lovely pieces and I would love to see your clothes in more detail!!

LOVE your closet!!! You convinced me that I should start looking at used boots. So I determined that Saturday when I go thrifting I would begin. So today I stopped at the thrift store by my house and meandered over to the shoes. Found a pair of vintage Dan Post leather boots for $6.99! WHAT?! The sad part is they aren’t my size but I can sell them and keep looking for more!!! Thanks you!!!

Hi Laura, you carry a genuine air of humility that can’t be faked. I know you aren’t boasting, when you find something really cool and you get it for a good price, you are on a natural high!!. My wardrobe is straight from Goodwill and includes two real Coach purses. When you found the money in your purse I had to laugh, I once found $20.00 in a Sak purse I got at Goodwill. Your closet is on par with some of those pricey boutiques. But your clothes are way cooler🤗. Girl you rock!!

This was fascinating! I learned so much, especially with regard to display. When you said “out of sight, out of mind” - I was reminded that there are so many things in my closet that I forget about. I started vintage/antique shopping when my parents would drag me along to auctions in the early sixties. I have been doing that ever since, but until I began to follow you recently, I never extended that effort to clothing or jewelry. Thank you for giving me something we to learn about and hunt! ❤

With neighborhood rummage sales starting in my area I been finding name brand clothing for dirt cheap and in good condition...Although I am not much in buying brand new stuff you still can find really nice stuff at those sales and my friends comment on my clothes...I say it was a rummage sale find....their reaction is quit impressive.
