The black suit was going onto Peter when he would sleep and go out and fight crime. When he woke up he would be drained and it started to make him look more disheveled. So there were some drawbacks in comics

One of the things I love is that the tag line of the game is "Be Greater, Together" which has a double meaning. Together as in Miles and Peter but also as in Peter and the symbiote.

Not just that, but when the Symbiote tries to erase the together part so it’ll just say, “Be Greater.” But only for Peter and itself, Miles’s Nu-Form venom literally repelled the tendrils. So Miles’s Nu-Form is going to be the key to saving his mentor and fellow Spider-Man.

Addressing the forced voice and waiting it out, miles seemed surprised immediately in the trailer about not only peter’s personality shift but also the symbiote suit, implying that this is Miles’s first time seeing it. Considering they’re always fighting crime together it seems Peter must’ve literally just got the symbiote suit so it is highly possible his voice will develop, so yeah I agree. We should just wait it out.

It’s possible Peter has been wearing the black suit, but he and Miles haven’t teamed up in a while (note that Miles was all the way across the city while Peter was in Queens; New York is a massive place, even when you can soar through it at the speed they can), possibly due to the symbiote making him more reclusive (like the spider) and being more clingy with him, not wanting to share his companionship with someone else who’s his equal. Miles could’ve heard about the new suit in the news and tried to reach out to him, but stuff kept getting in the way and this is their first time really working together with it between them. Alternatively, his line about “new threads” could be entirely unique to the trailer. It’s only two syllables, Peter snubs him on it, and they’re both wearing masks, so it’d be pretty easy to dub it over. A lot of game trailers/previews do this, so it wouldn’t be surprising.

It's a very easy way to throw people off as to the context of the mission they're showing, which seems to be a pretty important one at that, so changing it from the final version is kinda mandatory. They did the same thing with the helicopter chase mission they showcased in 2017.

I didn't even think the voice sounded all that forced. We need to remember it's not just that the symbiote is making him more aggressive. It's also the fact that his best friend is dying, a bunch of armed thugs have just pulled up to what I believe may be HIS house, and the only person who can save his friend is currently being hunted by these same people for sport. That situation would be enough to send most people into a seething rage to the point where they're practically growling when they speak. Anyway, it ain't even close to being as "forced" as the infamous Christopher Daniel Barnes performance from the 90's cartoon. The OGs know which scene I'm referring to.

hey guys, let's remember that they can change things, when we got that helicopter gameplay from the first game on E3, Peter already knew that Martin Lee was Mr. Negative, but when the game was released, Mr.Negative was replaced by a random Demon guy and Peter only got to know about Martin Lee later in the game

Honestly, as a fan of Yuri Lowenthal, I ADORE the angry voice he's doing. It reminds me of my favourite Lowenthal performance, Gideon's breakdown in Nier Replicant. Because while Yuri is a phenomenal VA, he does very much use the same voice for most of his roles. So when his character snapped and got angry in Nier, I loved it. And I am very much excited for his performance as Pete in this game.

Nier Replicant such a good game, the side characters had really good stories but the rewards for the helping them were kind of whatever

I like the Black suit, don’t mind the web wings since they seem to add to the traversal and could link really nicely to the web swinging. I’m a fan of Yuri’s more edgy delivery and I love that Miles seems to have grown as a hero. Really looking forward to the plot.

Web wings is definitely going to be very useful in Queens

I love how the black suit looks. Super unique and looks organic. Less like armour and more like tendons wrapped around him. And besides, we’re guaranteed to have a few different black suit options for customization, which will most likely have a more cloth-like version I also like the gliding as an option. If you don’t like gliding, then you can just not use it. I think it’s a really cool way to incorporate web wings that’s useful for when there isn’t something to swing from or wanting to save up on web fluid. And while some bits of Yuri’s performance can sound a bit forced, I don’t mind it. And the dialogue might be different in the final product (just look at the 2018 Demo and what lines were different there). I can’t wait until this game comes out

For his voice, I actually REALLY love the subtle changes when he’s talking to Miles. Old Pete would’ve said something about how proud he was when he gave him the tracker. But Symbiote Pete just takes it from him. His normal conversation tone is PERFECT. The way he says “No.” sent chills down my spine when Miles said they should follow them. The only part that feels forced is that 4 second clip EVERYONE keeps showing, where he screams about Kraven coming to New York 💀

I think the costume looks great. It’s like a perfect mix of the advanced suit’s more “armoured” look and the symbiote’s organic nature, making it look unique whilst still feeling like the black suit. If you don’t like it though, that’s ok. There’s probably plenty of other alternate black suits for Peter to wear.

I’m very happy Insomniac went their own way with how they wanted the black suit to look on Peter. I’m also happy it’s not his advanced suit but painted black, I know so many people did that for mods on PC but it’s good to know Insomniac went a different and much better route than what people expected. With that out the way, Miles looks like he’s has been growing as a hero like the OP mentioned. I’m REALLY EXCITED to see how far he’s come as Spider-Man. And I want to play around with the web swinging, web wings and the new tricks we’ll be getting too. Overall, I’m excited and now I have to save up for a PS5. 😂

Bro these people are bugging bro, this suit looks dope! Yuri's symbiote voice is menacing as heck! People gotta stop nick picking bro, not everything has to be straight from the comics. I'mma be honest I'm not a huge fan of the classic suit in the first Marvel Spider-Man just the fact that it was too identical to the comics .I felt like they should've modernized it a bit not like in a tech way but design wise I think they should've went something like the Marvel Spider-Man cartoon, even though that was a trash show that suit design was modernized without sacrificing that classic spiderman feel if you know what I mean.

I think people who say the suit is "overdesigned" is overanalysising or expecting too much. The symbiote is a livng creature thats attached to Peter. Its basically trying to mimic Peter and it's suit. So of course the black suit will look sooth, rigged, & bulky. Its a creature trying too mimic its host.

The "armored" bits of the costume I believe come from the Advanced suit underneath. Look closely after he pops from the basement. The tendrils retract, then the suit kinda forms around Peter (an in between phase) and then it morphs into what we see for the rest of the reveal. I believe that the 'in-between' phase will apply to all suits, if there is the ability to switch between the red (other suits) and the symbiote suits. Ultimately, I believe we could see "venomized" versions of every suit in the game, though only time will tell if I'm right or wrong.

Honestly love this suit. Looks very alien, and fits the Venom look. Only gripe, no blocks on the back of the hands, not big on the arrows but Honestly if this is what a symbiote spiderman might look like in the MCU, I'd love it.

I think him using it knowing it's probably not safe, but does anyways due to how it enhances him greatly adds to the character's relatability, it acts as a great metaphor for addiction people know drugs are not good for them but once you take them the effect it has overpowers rational thought you start to rely on them because without it you can't handle your situation, the will power, strength, and perseverance it takes to overcome the addiction, the drugs, the symbiote and continue to live is what makes it so inspiring.

The new black suits' texturing is great adds layers to a design with a very simple colour scheme it also doesn't have marvels issue of adding loads of lines

In defense of the gliding, you can probably just not use it outside of the minigames. It adds a bit of pizzazz to movement and gives players opportunity to have their own way of traversal, together with swinging.

It could be a thing that you can only do at high speeds and while at a high elevation. Faster but you'll lose altitude pretty quickly if you don't fly through those hoop things. This way you could have it be an addition like how Miles' venom jumps were.

@@madladdie7069 Yeah, the part with Miles basically shown us that Gliding will have its own movements and functionality. Plus it's gliding - so basically imagine the Cape Gliding from the "Batman: Arkham" Games. It will be interesting to swap between gliding and swinging - especially with a bigger momentum and speed.

In the context of the story, it would honestly be pretty pointless to have the black suit look like normal cloth. What I'm assuming they'll do is have Harry be Venom at the start of the game (KEYWORD: START OF THE GAME) as a boss bottle like Kingpin was, but end up having that be a fake-out of which gives Peter the symbiote. He would know it's an alien and I'm assuming he starts to use it in this game only because he knows that he has to. At least that's kind of what I'm assuming the story Insomniac tells is going to be.

I don't think we get a Harry boss but the symbiote is shown saving Harry's life so their is no reason for Peter even knowing it's alive to think it will change him or take over he probably just uses it because Harry will die and also to keep up with kraven and miles since I think will see kraken basically kick the shit out of Peter and maybe miles

I think what a lot of people don't understand is that the suit takes heavy inspiration from guyver, if you have seen any of the units you can immediately notice how similar they look, it's personally why i absolutely love the black suit in this game, guyver is such an underrated manga.

Your take on the treatment of the Symbiote suit is spot-on. However he picks it up in the game, he knows it’s more than morphing cloth with bonus webs. I like the added texture and that it rides and adapts over his other costume. ALSO: very curious how the collectible figures are going to look

from what I can see it's because the suit he's wearing underneath has those pads and if you were wearing something like the 2099 suit then it wouldn't

​tbh i think a lot of people mostly wanted the suit to just be a recolor of the advanced suit, raimi style, that seems to be the consensus with spiderman black suit designs, "raimi is peak, comics is mid, underdesigned, looks weird, bad" basically, personally i like the more alien looks because it reminds me more of venom, and i think having peter look more like the next big bad evil monster guy in his emo bully lowenthal phase will help kind of build his character arc rather than "i painted my suit black, then i went to a jazz club and beat my girlfriend but i feel bad now so ill fight a horny monster dude who vaguely looks like me"

I love how the symbiote was pulsating on the back of Peter’s neck and on his biceps. I love that attention to detail. Wraith is Yuri because it was teased in the silver lining dlc with all of those crime scenes.

I dig it. Actually looks like an alien mimicking clothes. The armor pads look like shells, it looks like it’s covered in muscle fibers and the lines are actually very warranted. The head also looks like it has a closed mouth (I can only wonder why). I’m still not sure why people are upset it looks goopy when it’s a space blob. And they’re ok with Tom Hardy venom looking goopy. At first I wanted it to emote and even blink like it’s organic. Like it’s face wrinkles, the “lenses” closing look like eyelids but then I liked the fact it has a cold, dead stare. No soul behind those false eyes. Also the lizard is not the lizard. That’s The Kaiju. Edit: I also really hope they copy spectacular. Like it looks like a suit at first, still goopy for a red flag but in a way that it looks like it has a fresh coat of paint, and eventually looks more and more like venom. Same goes for his attitude. Make him become aggressive overtime or else the tonal whiplash is gonna be jarring. And why do people get upset over the sinister 6 using tech when most of them don’t have powers and need tech.

I loved seeing this suit in the trailer, the armoured plating on it looks unique and instead of it being a usual “cloth costume” it looks like it wants to be a type of Spider-Armour, which I’m all for because it looks very much like Fortnite’s Venom, I like the suit being creepy and Xenomorph like and prefer a more scary approach to the black suit

I love the black suit design I’m not usually a fan of the goop designs but this game does it well by only having it in a few sections and I love yuris voice

One thing that i want to mention is how in every single one of the gameplay trailers for the Insomniac's Spider Man games, the trailers showcase a lot of late game mechanics in a fairly early part of the story. So while Miles does say some things that indicate that peter hasn't worn the black suit for long, in the same cutscenes, we can hear that Peter's voice isn't as gruff as in the gameplay. Even in the parts where he is extra shady, as long as it's in a cutscene, it doesn't sound so symbiote-y. However, in the same fashion, some gamplay dialogue sounds really scripted as a part of the story, so i might be wrong TL;DR: Insomniac's modus operandi for gameplay trailers indicate that some of the aspects we see in the video might be displaced from that point in the story, so when the actual game comes out, it might not be that visible that the suit is alien (gameplay-wise, don't know for it's design).

@@aryan7767 Yeah, like that will 100% be something we will unlock via the Ability Tree. I can honestly see this being a black-out part of Peter's Tree, that is visible once we get the Symbiote. Alternatively the Symbiote could be the 3rd Ability Tree, that they said will be a thing but didn't reveal its contents.

I think the Symbiote is in the first phase with the suit. As peter bonds more with the Symbiote, it’ll take full control and it won’t have the armor/pads look to it.

I hope the eyes get a little more jagged and expressive, Peter basically has the TASM2 lenses throughout the entire video while Miles is super emotive. As well as that I noticed the symbiote has the classic Insomniac plated look, and I think it would've looked better with a more, tendrils wrapped around Peter design to make it more organic, as it is now it follows a very common layout for Spidier suits. Even with that, I'm super stoked for this game I can't play since I don't have a ps5

I definitely think they are going to have variants on the black suit like they had in the first game. The animation of it forming around him has goop cover him followed by the character model just being there when the goop peels back. That lets them make one animation for it popping up without having to make a ton of different animations for different suits.

9:09 well insomanic tends to have a pattern to change dialogue for trailers and demos to hide spoilers from the audience. So I think the new threads line is pulled from earlier in the game because Peter doesn’t even react to it. I think this is pretty late stage for black suit and I think it’s close to the speculated Miles vs Peter boss fight.

I liked how awkward Miles was before. Peter was an older, very experienced Spider-Man. He swings through the city like it's just another Tuesday. Miles is awkward, a little clumsy, but enjoying the sheer thrill of being Spider-Man with every swing. He's new to it, and it really felt like it. Felt genuine. Was refreshing by contrast to Pete. And by this point he's definitely earned newfound confidence.

I really like how the gooeyness of the costume creates a distinct shine that highlights the costume. I also believe that web gliding ought to integrate extra web stuff, there could be potential in that. Kraven’s shoulder skull is honestly really goofy but it looks great and it fits his character. Can’t wait to see him take on edgy spider-man with his Batman-esque voice shift

Yuri Lowenthal's "Symbiote Suit Spidey voice" is perfectly fine with me, because it reminds me of the 90s animated black suit Spidey going "SHOCKEEEEER. I WILL CHASE YOU TO THE ENDS OF THE EARTH" which tbh is fucking amazing and you can't convince me otherwise.

It’s possible Peter has been wearing the black suit for a bit, but he and Miles haven’t teamed up in a while (note that Miles was all the way across the city while Peter was in Queens; New York is a massive place, even when you can soar through it at the speed they can), possibly due to the symbiote making him more reclusive (like the spider) and being more clingy with him, not wanting to share his companionship with someone else who’s his equal. Miles could’ve heard about the new suit in the news and tried to reach out to him, but stuff kept getting in the way and this is their first time really working together with it between them. Alternatively, his line about “new threads” could be entirely unique to the trailer. It’s only two syllables, Peter ignores it, and they’re both wearing masks, so it’d be pretty easy to dub it over. A lot of game trailers/previews do this, so it wouldn’t be surprising.

I love how the black suit looks. It's just so alien and organic while still retaining all the iconic features. Very well done imo

I think the gliding isn't really a bad addition at all. I think it's a really interesting way to keep traversal interesting now that we're in the third installment of web-swinging simulator. It could have a lot of unique properties like swing speed momentum transferring into gliding speed. I don't think it's too out of place considering the concept of web wings being nothing new- I say let the Spider-People have their lil' wings. I don't see it being a mandatory option either, if that's the case, then it's not really a problem if you don't use it.

I think the best way to handle the symbiote NOW is for Peter to know its alive and only ditch Venom because he is so brutal and is trying to bite people’s heads off, so I think the direction they’re going in is really good, even if I don’t think the suit should have the armor plating.

It's mixed for me; The goopy texture is fine, but I really dislike that it's covered in all these segmented "armour-plating" lines. It's overdesigned in that sense. But the eye shape and logo looks fantastic

I can see where your going at, but the “armor plating” mostly would make the suit feel kinda alive, same for other parts of the suit, and it makes it looks alien life. But yea I see where your going at

Even if you don't like the spiderman symbiote suit no doubt in my mind that they will definitely have alternate costume of the suit.

This is actually one of the few iterations of the black suit that I actually LIKE. The way it adapts to the material of the advanced suit underneath actually gives it texture and substance, rather than the awkward "naked morph suit" look it always gets stuck with.

To be truly honest I think the wings were a great addition to the spidermen as there was some times where swinging got just a bit repetitive(not really) but all I'm saying it's fresh the web wings and something new to traverse NY and it looks like you still need to build momentum to even use them in a fun way. I think it's gonna be a fun fresh experience

Miles most likely hasn't seen Peter for a WHILE so the new suit throws him off

I love how in this gameplay reveal they just outright give us a view of rivers rather than puddles.

The suit is amazing. There is not a single thing I don't like about it. I think it's amazing that we are getting this quality of superhero games in the first place. We are lucky, and different takes on things shouldn't instantly be considered as a negative thing or a flaw. Yuri's over exaggerated voice kinda reminds me of Christopher Daniel Barnes' voice which I like. You can see the immense amount of work that Insomniac has put into this game to make the experience better for us as fans, so the fact that people are still finding things to nitpick about just pisses me off. Also, that's a really cool Spectacular Spider-Man costume.

I fucking love how upgraded the combat looks.

People need to keep in mind that there’s going to be symbiote suits for every costume in the game, this one is just what it looks like on the advanced suit, I can’t wait to see it on the classic suit and the raimi suit

I felt like the black suit had all those lines and and a more armored look was because it was over his advanced suit which is more body armor than spandex

I love the new suit. It seems to me as the symbiote is made to help Harry fight whatever is wrong with him the goopy bits are located on the larger muscle groups and more importantly the most goopy part is the back of the head near where the brain stem would be located. I think itll slowly become more "alive looking" as the connection grows. I also have a sneaking suspicion that the first reveal was misleading as I think peter may become venom and we will play as miles fighting him. I feel like that may give us a more heartfelt resolution to this arc as seeing miles break through the symbiote to save his mentor and older brother figure would be amazing.

Also after just rewatching the trailer again today the tag at the end kinda supports my theory, the “Be Greater, Together.” The “Together” gets symbiotic and then miles’ electricity gets it off.

I like how it looks. It makes it look more "alien" like and alive. I mean some of it will take some getting used to seeing like the gooey looking parts but overall I think it looks like more than just a suit, which it is.

Something in the similar vein of your idea on the "2" in "Spider-Man 2" is the new tagline, "Be Greater. Together.", having multiple meanings which I think is incredibly cool. The two main ones I thought of are both Peter and Miles being greater together, but also Peter feeling he's greater with the symbiote.

Me personally, I think everything about the black suit looks awesome. It makes it actually look ALIVE instead of what Sam Rami’s did. (Don’t get me wrong I love the Sam Rami trillogy) yet the black suit looked kinda disappointing when you compare it to others. I feel like people should be more grateful that we’re HAVING this suit be playable in the new game

I believe people were expecting the black suit to be the advanced suit but painted black, like the modded ones you would see from Spider-Man Remastered on PC. I’m so happy it didn’t go that route, it would’ve been REALLY disappointing to me if they did do that.

​@@starsdealer3473 Actually it did something different. Before that, all versions of the symbiote suit were the same one from the comics, just a simple black suit with a few white details. Originally they were going to have the same design but it ended up looking like an adult parody so they changed it. Raimi symbiote suit has all the raised webbing and none of the white details, so yeah, it did change fans views on the classic. Yeah, it is basically just a black painted version of the Raimi suit, but that's precisely what keeps it from sticking to the standard style. It's not meant to reinvent the wheel, it's just servicing what it is.

I think the thing about Yuri Lowenthal's black suit voice is that he's drawing from his more aggressive voice roles like Sasuke Uchiha which honestly works for me. We can think of his quippy Spidey and Ben 10 voice as his lighter characters while Sasuke and symbiote Spidey are his darker, more aggressive characters.

There are aspects of the black suit that I would personally change but if it was only one I think I would give it bigger, more McFarlane eyes personally. To me the lines on the suit or the texture don’t matter as much, because IMO the head feels kind of… lacking. But I also think this is something I’ve felt about a lot of black suits I. Spider-Man.

I really like this new black suit! It's the classic suit, but with the additions and small changes it looks a lot more alien, which I think is pretty cool. But I can understand why some people might not like it.

Because of the map extension to Queens and Brooklyn, I think gliding will be pretty important.

I personally like those lines on the suit, cuz (in my ignorant opinion) it looks like an actual alien symbiote suit, like an exoskeleton mixed with the look of the inner working of muscle tissue- fabulous! well, actually ugly, but it's supposed to look like that, cuz aliens would realistically (from our perspective) look fucking hideous. plus, I don't think it drew inspiration from xenomorphs from the alien movies, by the look of it- it looks more like the Tanker Bug from Starship Troopers, but that's just my opinion.

I know Lowenthal's more "edgy" delivery is a bit hard to digest for some, but I feel like it genuinely adds a layer to the character. It succeeds in communicating that something is truly off about this version of Spider-man, even down to his voice. You're supposed to hear him and go "wait that's not what he's usually supposed to sound like" and I feel like that really helps differentiate the effects of the symbiote on Peter. I do agree tho that a gradual transition into the super edgy mannerisms would be the best route to go down.

Peters tactical personality matches the way the suit looks. Understanding Insom’s Peter is someone who is very calculated No excessive movements he’s very efficient. And his overall personality shines through in the Symbiotes design of this body armor. While still incorporating the wild aspects of Venom in some capacity

We have to remember that venom didn't change the appearance of the suit, he stretched himself all over the suit. So thats why peters costume is somewhat visible. Also remember that venom is a very veiny creature and he's also portraid as goop without a host

9:15 I think this was a change done for the trailer. I doubt that in the final game Miles will just hand wave away Peter's new suit like this, especially when he's coming in using tendrils. I think it will be like how in the E3 2017 trailer they changed Miles' Dad to be Yuri to streamline things and possibly avoid plot details.
