I think Sixteen seventeen is based in California and California just changed the law that all salaried employees have to be at a minimum salary of $66K per year which is a huge increase and could cripple some businesses. I’m not saying that’s it, but it’s possible. I will absolutely miss their fragrances.

I'm so sad about 1617 closing. I've been with Vanessa since her first KZread video. She taught us how to make coconut wax and SP487 wax blend. I'll never forget all that she has taught me about candle making. 😥

With regards to AFI duplications, I've read up on this a good amount. Basically, you can send them a fragrance oil, perfume, soap, maybe even a lotion and they can use gas chromatography mass spectrometry to duplicate a fragrance. The best is 1-3 oz of a fragrant oil, but they can use 3 bars of soap, even a candle. They require a 10pd minimum (think 1.5 gallons) for an order and you must be a business. When I priced out duping some oils I love, it was around $150 for 10pds. That's my TL:DR version :)

AFI was their manufacturer. You do have to send a sample because they have her oils listed as numbers not names.

I've duped with AFI. They're fantastic and easy to work with. MOQ is 10lbs but they do offer a few fragrances in smaller production quantities.

Actually AFI manufactured their 1617s fragrances but they have them by a number not a name of course, tgen they sent them to 1617 and she named them, so they are asking us that have their 2oz bottles to send in, this was a week ago so they can put the notes with a nu.ber however they only sell in 10lb drums or more but maybe a fo company can purchase them we shall see, also a friend has contacted the company that makes their vessels too but of course it's over seas and need to buy in large quanities

I'm sad, but also reminded not to use exclusive products. I started my candle making journey about 2 yrs ago and I read many people were having problems finding places to buy their materials from during the pandemic. I was hesitant to buy 16/17 waxes, but the promise to cure in just 3 days convinced me! So, here I am. I tested and tested 3 of my scents with their wax and I only have a few lbs left. Oh well, lesson learned. Praying for all the peeps at 16/17.

I’m shocked because I just received my order from them yesterday and had no idea! It took two weeks to get it. Sad that they just disappeared. I would’ve bought a bunch of other stuff if they would’ve decided to sell off their inventory, but it looks like they didn’t have time to do that.

Me too! I only ordered what I needed at the moment because I thought they would be there to get other stuff. I never saw the message that said they were moving but I did go on their website one time and it said they weren’t accepting new orders because of the high volume. So sad. Hope everything is okay with them.

If you are looking for there dupes 16/17, you can get them from Charlie owner of Maple Street fragrance company. I’m just doing this to help others.

I'm so bummed about 1617 closing! Their West Coast vessels and wax are staples for me! And the fragrances are unparalleled!

It's very shocking. I thought they were just moving and then I got the email. It's kinda crazy because I was talking with someone at 1617 maybe a week ago, and they had said new vessels were coming and the passion print vessels were going g to be back in stock soon. I wish they had been more transparent because I would have purchased more if I'd known. So sad on many levels. I hope they can reopen or open something new. I wish them the best. They had quality fragrance oils and vessels. I feel for the employees and owners. Please update us if you hear anything.

I never ordered from them but it’s incredibly sad to hear that they are going out of business. It’s always sad to hear any small business not surviving.

AFI actually manufactured their oils, but they were numbered so tgey asked makers to send in 2oz samples so they can put the notes with the numbers, the lowest they sell is 10lbs, maybe a FO company can supply them since AFI has the recipe. Hive and Honey is getting their #7 and #9 wax I don't know how much will be available and maybe they can actually get the recipe. One FO company posted they won't be dooping 1617 oils because the owner "V" has reached out asking several companies not to which is odd because they are out of business so makes me wonder if she plans on opening as a different company...One thing I don't respect from them is she can reach out to companies to say don't remake her oils but can't reach out to her loyal customers that relied and supported them. That bugs me. I would of bought more vessels and lids because I cannot find dark oak lids for the price she was selling. Makesy lids are 3.99 each and now they went up on their shipping threshold. So yeah this entire thing is a huge mess. I had just switched from my long time hemp wax to the # 9 but at least I can go back. If anyone is looking fir a top notch fragrance company you need to check out Simbi, she is amazing and does destination oils like hotels, favorite places, and they are the most concentrated oils. So check them out she takes great care of her clients and shipping is where it should be she doesn't over charge like most of these suppliers

This is why every single scent in my collections is from a different company .. So sad that Alaistar is gone though, such an amazing masculine scent and it was just added to my collection right before they closed. So this scent will be so short lived . Maybe we should start experimenting withing making custom scents to kind of avoid this major disappointment again. I coulda cried how they just disappeared with no follow up explanation. My heart goes out to those that used the company for majority of supplies .. heart melts for you .

I was just about to spend money 3 weeks ago to sample their fragrances. I am glad I did not act on impulse because this would have been a waste of money.

Ive been reading in the comments about 16/17 asking their Fragrance suppliers not to reveal their fragrance recipes and Im stunned that afew people are annoyed by that...Why would you expect to be GIVEN something that they worked hard to create? As I see it ...they created it ...its THEIRS ..honestly people ... theres no need to turn on others misfortune

Hello. I placed an order with them in May 2023 and half of the goods were defective and they gave me a coupon for $175 (the amount of the defect). Yesterday I found out that they were closed (I wanted to place an order with them), does anyone know how I can get my money back?

I would file a dispute with your credit card company if you cannot get ahold of them.
