I've competed in combat sports since 2009. Deji froze. He got nervous to exchange that's why he stayed on outside and didn't throw combinations and would clinch. I hope he listens to you bro. You're a good brother.

People complaining about him being tough : how many of us would want to have someone who gives enough of a care to give you in detail, the reasons why you fucked up and how to get better? Everyone honestly. Even the best people sometimes get complaisant and aren't hard enough on the introspection side, we all need a guy like JJ around to push us further. I just don't feel it will ever resonates with Deji since it's like the 3rd video i watch on the topic :D

the fact that deji was so confident pre-match and did a lot of talking with many ppl cheering on him while alex just stayed humble and chill even if like almost all of the crowd is boo-ing him makes the loss a lot worse. if deji wants to pursue this career, i really hope that he would improve drastically. congrats to alex man. even if hes getting clowned on, he deserved that w. edit: saw a lot of comments saying that it is normal and i agree. getting into you opponent’s head is definitely normal but my point is that he did not have the skill to back it up and alex stayed humble which made the loss worse.

Jj is actually right about Deji. Deji seems to be like a "people pleaser" type of person. When I saw him face to face with Alex, he was all stone cold attitude and it gave me hope that he might win this by his seriousness. But then, when the press conferences came, he was all gassed up because the attention of the crowd and was talking shit to Alex(I think it was just to sell a fight, but still abit weird when he was all stone cold before). He should fight in a US event, fuck those yesmen, let him feel the pressure.

Yeahhh that's a good point, defending well can save you from getting battered at best, but it won't win you anything without the right plan of attack. I don't know if he was being coached to fight on the inside and rebelled, or if he was just suffering from empty tank PTSD. He'll only do better next time though

I respect that you're being completly straight forward about how you feel after he did lose 3 times.
