My Tesla Model 3 100% Range Test (with 20K Miles)(Short)

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

This is the short version of my video going up tomorrow! Looking at how far my 2021 Tesla Model 3 Long Range can do with 100% battery and 20,000 miles on the clock.
A lot of uphill driving and a cold winters day... remember this is just for fun!

So your 2021 long range is advertised as a 353-mile range battery, but after 20,000 miles it degraded to 326mi? So around a 7.5% decrease...

Hey yeah that’s right, it’s prob dropped a little more now, maybe 320… but you never get that either to be honest. One day I might film a video literally driving 400 miles and see what we actually get sticking at 70mph

@@valueofnothing2487353 is the EPA figure. It’s not a good representation as you’ll never get that number at highway speeds. He drove on the highway 245 miles. It definitely depends on the temperature, heat in the cabin, and speed of the car that got him such a poor figure of only 245. In the summer it should be over 300 miles but it always depends on those factors.

My 2023 model 3 RWD after 1500 miles dropped to 268 EPA in reality it only go 200 miles or less with full charge. I don’t care when people say they get close to EPS with a lot of factors so EPA does not count a lot of so called other factor that is just not right and not sure what is right and wrong these days

So in my 60kw battery I get about 190 at 240Wh/mi. How’d you get a lot more miles at 246Wh/mi on only 10 more KW battery?

  • @MBrown

So with the kw/mile the higher the number the more miles your get, so this was a long journey could depend on the terrain and weather

@@MBrownsorry I wrote it wrong. I meant to say Wh/mile. You were consuming 246wh/mile which is a bit high for highway driving. I’m at 219wh/mi on the highway. I guess maybe the model 3 is measured differently

So in 3 years you lost 17% of the range? So in 5 years tesla has to replace the battery because below 70%? Good deal, actually. But I wonder if this is common every 5 years replacing the battery. I know other factors, just curious if it plays out like that on average.

You can't use range loss to determine battery degradation as your range will depend on your driving and the conditions It's unclear what SOC he is at when he stopped, but according to EV database the 21 M3LR has a 75kwh battery with 72kwh usable, and he recharged 70kwh to get back to 100% So his battery degradation would be between 3-7%

On road trips, it's not ideal but I hate when ppl act like it's not manageable. Like, how far are you driving? A 6 hour drive requires two 30 min stops likely less (in a standard range). It's not really that big of a deal. Generally speaking, even if you have to gas up, you're not in & out of a gas station in 10 mins. If you plan right, you get food, get snacks/coffee, use the bathroom then it's time to go.

@@dcheard2 Don't be silly! Every Dino juice driver uses the standard everyday typical journey benchmark: Land End to John O' Groats, return trip, non stop, pulling a trailer at 85mph. If you can't do that in an EV, then it's obviously useless. I think I just got Bingo on the Anti EV rhetoric bingo card. ;)

You did the worst possible test. From St Ives to Worcester is literally 100% motorway and A30 driving, which is 70 the whole way. I think everyone in the world knows these cars aren’t at their best in those conditions. Take it at 50-60 mph on A roads and a bit of motorway, and the miles are accurate
