Hey Andy - as a Zep fanatic, that Robert Plant story, driving with Bonzo's drum kit and listening to The Meters, with Robert singing along......you have lived a good life, my friend! Loved your picks and appreciate your love of hard rock and heavy metal! ......and P - Funk rules! Stellar episode.

I'm pretty sure that "Rejuvenation" by the Meters was recorded about the same time as Robert Palmer's "Sneakin' Sally Through The Alley" which the Meters also played on. The title track is pretty funky. Lowell George of Little Feat plays on it as well as (uncredited) on "Just Kissed My Baby" from "Rejuvenation". If you like AWB's "Pick Up The Pieces" then check out the killer 18 minute version on their live album "Person To Person". Both the late Robbie McIntosh and his replacement Steve Ferrone had previously played with Brian Auger. Ferrone and Hamish Stuart (while both still with AWB) played on a couple of great Chaka Khan albums.

Glad to hear Queen II got mentionned both in Your 74 prog rock list and also in this one, if only to say it won't be in your lists... Fantastic album indeed, along with Sheer Heart Attack. Queen II was my favorite alltime album until I listened to A Wizard/A True Star by Todd Rundgren which then went strait to N°1. But the first four Queen albums are still favorites. I wish they had kept doing that kind of complex pop/rock music although I respect what they did after in their career.

Exactly. The hard rock goliaths of the early 70's hit the wall around 1974. Although it must be said that 'Sabotage' from 1975 is a great album. Few artists navigated this period successfully. Although not hard rock, Bowie and Eno managed to evolve through it without any drop-off in quality or loss of identity. Led Zeppelin was essentially a band of the first half of the 1970's (and the late 60's). I love the newer tracks on Physical Graffiti but I could tell that songs were not coming as easily as they were prior to 1974. Cheers.

There are whole Books that talk about the Jazz of the 20ties! What are you talking about. There were no Albums, but many Singles. The 20ties are the Decade of the Young Louis Armstrong, not only one of the greatest Jazz Musicians of the World but also one of the Greatest Pop Musicians and oh yes the most famous Trompeteer. It was the Age of Bessie Smith the Empress of the Blues. The Decade after that became the Years of the Jazz Wars: Hot Jazz versus Swing. France fell in a State of Musical Civil War and Books started to be written about it. Up to this Date you‘ll find Discussion about the Sound of Buddy Bolden, who never was recorded. I was a Teenager in the 70ties and the most Important thing was: When will the Beatles reunite! The 60ties went on til 1973, til the Big Oil Crisis and the total vanishing of the Mini Skirt. And the 80 ties started when the World started to recognize Punk in Britain and with the taking over Government by the Neo-Liberals through Maggie Thatcher. The 70 ties where the Leaden Time of Youth Unemployment, international Terror, Stagflation and „Klaatu“!

Only Want You for Your Body by Buffalo (Australia). Black Sabbath influenced very hard rock. The cover is bad, but it was a piss take re their record company. Their best album is Volcanic Rock (1973) which was an influence on grunge. There is a strong argument that grunge was born in Australia, particularly by rocker Kim Salmon in the 80's who is also credited with creating the term.
