Has to be in a cast all summer. Mom said "it's a good thing it was his left" bc he can't do a thing with it, on the other hand, if it was his right hand--NIGHTMARE. I always thought the "right" hand was the right one to use for the project. Consequently I use both hands, still, about equally. I mostly write left handed, but can write right handed. I just found your channel. This is great! I am obsessed with composition books because as a child I never had any. They were considered luxury back then and remember Mead made them. But I got a few now, and a special one years ago I was unable to find more of. I remember they were hard covers but now are flimsy. I imagine them full of writing and sketches. But I can never start! It’s like white canvas syndrome. But Using them as scrappy journals is growing on me even if I have to collage in them. Your show and tell got me motivated! Your creativity journal brought me back to the 80s when I was using fluorescent highlighters for my pages and it was taught to me by my cousin in Italy, where its paper and stationary heaven. I even thought of hunting down some acrylic fluo colours. I was looking for mini composition books but can’t find them. I’ve seem ppl with them. Small ones are easier for smaller projects. Since they crinkle well, I think all I did was wet one and air dried it so I could start on a crinkly one. Using one per month has been a goal. But one per season or recipe, food would be a great start. Being able to go back by year and dates to journals, is an amazing thing. I will check your Etsy shop. Being able to decorate them and embellish them will motivate me to use them.

So glad you found some inspiration. Do you have a WalMart (or maybe visit walmart.com) where you are? Right now they're on sale for "back to school" half-price (50 cents each here). I had a hard time finding the half-comp books here too so I ended up getting a pack of 6 or so from Amazon, those were about $1-$1.25 each if I remember correctly. I haven't done anything with those yet. So many project ideas, so little time, lol. Another thing that may help you use them is think of ways to get multiple uses out of one book. For example, one of my comp books is a depository for the last little bits of paints left on my acrylic palette from other projects. Once that's "full" I plan to take my favorite pages out and doodle/mark-make on top of the paint and use them for backgrounds or digi-kits and use the painty pages that are left in the book for glue-booking. Another thing I find helpful is always having more than one. Now that they're on sale half-price I get 5 at a time for $2.50 and "stock up" that way A) I never have to pay full price for them and B) I've got lots of them, so using one doesn't pinch so much. Happy to have you check out my Etsy shop, but you can decorate the covers with anything from scrap material (old sheets, old clothes) newspaper, any digikit, construction paper, master boards, collage, tissue papers, napkins, old (thin) placemats or kitchen towels (as long as they're no too bulky), woven ribbon scraps, markers, paint...

ooooooo!!! Tell me alllllll about them, what are their names??? How old? Personalities, I'd love to hear ❣️ I would be happy to email you my version, but apparently, I made my Boston pages then altered those for the general dog-loving public as I do not have any with the Boston on them. If you DM me your email address via Etsy, I'll send you a few Bostons from a new Snazzy Snips (cut & collage/create) book I'm working on (sort of a sneak peek) if you'd like.

Watching your vid and I can say. I'm a lefty also. When I was in the 6th grade already writing cursive. Used to hate the ink stains on the other left handed students. The book that we were using to learn to write cursive had 2 methods of writing. Just like the right handed students turning the page 45 degrees to the right. Not one stain on my hand. The teacher I had in the first grade used to tie my left hand to the desk and call me daughter of the devil. She was an old lady probably 70 if I'm exaggerating I'm sorry that is how she used to look to me.

OMG that's crazy. The first grade teacher I had (also looked every bit of 70 to me too) once tied me to my chair using the laces on the back of my shirt, then took the rest of the class to the cafeteria for lunch, shut out the light and shut the door. Leaving me there alone, literally tied to my chair. Can you imagine in today's mindset: National Headlines of teacher/student abuse, lol. I'm glad the old lady wasn't successful in making you right handed. I'm convinced that jacks up kids' brains trying to make them something they're not by messing with their natural wiring and function. Craziness Thanx so much for stoppin' by, and taking the time to comment, much appreciated 🤓

I love these books. I have had trouble getting adhesive to stick to the black binding on the composition books. You don't seem to have issues. Is it me or is something different on the books that I have purchased? I wait until the sales on the school supplies and I have purchased them at Staples for a quarter!! That's a bargain!

I haven't noticed any issue with the paper not sticking to the black binding, but I usually either butt the paper right up to the edge of that biding so it's not even on it or wrap the paper I'm using to cover it all the way around from the front to the back or vice-versa. You could try sanding the black binding material, perhaps they're using something with a bit of plastic or vinyl in it that makes it too slippery for the glue to adhere. Just a quick scuff up here and there with an old nail file or sanding block from the home improve supplies. 25¢ is an awesome deal. I've started stocking up bc they're 50¢ here right now vs. $1.

Randomly found this video, as a junk journaler and a crafter - im here for it haha I'm ambidextrous and when I use my left hand I tilt the page that far otherwise my hand smears the ink and its just more comfortable writing that way. My brother is a lefty and he keeps his page straight and kind of tucks his elbow near his side and rights with his hand straight like a righty would. I'm ambidextrous however when I was in kinder I always used my left but the teachers would make me switch hands to use my right hand. I never understood why I was always being "corrected" and I still don't to this day. Especially since a lot of other kids in my class were left handed lol

I find being ambidextrous to be a huge TIME SAVER! 😁 Sucks that they tried to change so many kids over. It messes with their systems' natural wiring. When I was a kid, bc I used both hands for everything, my mom would say, "it's on your right side" and I'd look to my left...she'd laugh and say, "no, your other right" So for the longest time I thought I had two right hands. They were both the "right" one to use for me... Also, I could never understand why the left wasn't ALWAYS the left. Up is always up and down is always down...of course until you're upside down. Backward was always back and forward always forward...why then would left/right change depending on the direction one was facing⁉ Yeowza a life-long OVER thinker of all things. 🤪 I was well into my 30s before knowing my right from my left came "naturally" 😂 So glad you randomly found us, thanx so much for hangin' out a bit 🌊

@TheCrabbyCrafterlol haha over thinker here too! I mostly write with my right for the most part unless I need to use both hands than I use my left. But, when I'm eating, 95% of the time I use my left hand lol when I was a kid I was opposite lol its weird, I guess as I've gotten older I've just gotten into my own little routine lol

I come from a long line of lefties and have two left-handed children, and none of us curve our hands. None of us tilt either. We actually write like right-handed individuals. We hold our hand below the writing. 🤷‍♀️

Awesome sauce! I'm about the only "leftie" in my family in that I primarily write and use a fork with my left hand, everything else, I use both or either (whichever is closest, most convenient for the project at hand, lol). I have a few leftie friends who use the hook/curve method, it looks so awkward (almost painful). And their writing is unmistakably left-handed/back-slanted. Thanx so much for stopping by, spending some time here and taking the time to comment 🌊 🤓

Same for this lefty! They tried to make me hook handed and even tried to make me write handed when I was in the FOURTH GRADE! I use scissors and do most any gross motor sport right handed bc why? I was taught be right handed people 😂

My right-handed mom would say to me "use your right hand" for some things...and I'd automatically use my left, she'd laugh and say, "No, your other right hand" so there was a part of me that believed I had two right hands and both were the "right" one to use....hahahhahha. So now, I use whichever hand is handy, so to speak. I do my make up on the left side with the left hand, right side with right hand; if I'm painting walls I use the left hand as far as I can reach and then the right hand as far as I can reach: less ladder moving, lol.

Omg. I also had teachers do that. They were so sit on right handed people they would tilt paper for that and I did the same thing. I also write straight without all the contortions. It's so neat to hear you say that. My daughter is also left handed and her teachers tried it with her and she wrote backwards from right to left. I freaked out her teacher and she was so concerned. I laughed and tilted her paper the right way for her and she automatically started writing the correct way. I told her teacher left handed!

That's crazy, recently? That's awesome you don't have the contortions either. I think we're few and far between, lol. I'm lucky enough that no one tried to make me change to right handed. Though I've done that myself for some reason. It makes sense to me to use whichever hand is closest to the job, makeup on the left side of the face: use the left hand. Make up on the right side, use the right hand. Painting the walls takes a lot less time if I do all the left side with that hand and all the right side with that hand, I don't have to move the ladder as often. Hahhaha. I noticed this evening I also switch up cutting with my utility knife, whichever is easiest, closest, fastest I use that hand. That drove my cosmetology instructors bonkers too "you have to pick a hand and stick with it" was the mantra there. Thanks so much for stopping by and commenting 🌊📓🤓

It's a fantastic (and EASY) way to get into a project, by setting a timer and doing one thing at a time, here's a video I did on it: kzread.info/dash/bejne/Y5-fqLudk9PSg8o.html Setting that tic-tic-tic kind of timer gets ya' moving, doing one thing at a time, is do-able. Having a set of "prompts" keeps ya' from getting stuck, like: "backgrounds, mark make, stamp, stencil, write/words, focal point"...
