Thanks for watching guys! One thing I did not address in this video is *why* drummers should care about removing reverb/echo from their studios. An ideal drum recording is one that’s *neutral.* The sounds brought into your computer should have as little effects on them as possible; allowing you to make the right choices later, in mixing. You can always add effects to a recording, but removing those same qualities from an original recording is extremely difficult. If I had to choose a final mix from the A/B comparison at 07:55 I would choose the “Before” sound. BUT. These are not final mixes; they’re essentially raw recordings, ready to be mixed. The “After” sound, while extremely dry and focused, is far easier to mix in post. Add a touch of reverb, bring up the OH and Room Mics, and you get the mix heard at 12:49 (which will sound even better as get to know the new room, and spend more time in mixing.) If you want to learn more about my mics, mixing technique, and other recording gear that I use, check out the links below, and a few more in the description! I'm recording in a small bedroom with a moderate amount of treatment. I'm jealous of how your kit sounds with only minor EQ both prior to and after Audimute. I think it's a testament to recording in a good room, but also to your ability to dial in your kit tone nicely. Can't wait to buy my house, get a proper recording space, and get semi-professional treatment.

those pearls sound absolutely amazing!!
Mitch is fantastic. I used their soundproofing product for my drum shed and he was a huge help.
Dang 10:43 the change on that room mic is insane.
WOW!. What I noticed most is the focus the change made in recording each drum. Un-treated, it left every mic to basically be a room mic and didn't allow them to focus on the drum they were recording. Very nice!
Your kit sounds amazing, and your drumming is great! Keep up the good work!
I admire the ability that people like you have to realize their dreams and be doing what they enjoy the most. For me, having a room like this would be a dream come true. I am very happy for you. Keep drumming!
Watching your videos for years, never once though there was anything lacking in the sound of your recording. Then you do this, sounds awesome. Just shows how far great playing can take you. Learned lots from your videos, thanks!
I remember playing in the old studio. Crazy how much you've upgraded! Its so bad ass now.
Glad to see you doing well & in great health!
Wow! Huge difference! Great job as always!
Hey Adam! First off incredible drumming as always. Mitch and Audimute are great. I recently took the big plunge on their products in my rehearsal space, it was a three week journey with more work to be done. Thanks for sharing.

Well you have done it again! Created a wow experience. Thanks much. Bill.

Haha figured someone would catch that! It’s actually super fine shreds of paper, from cutting the material inside the studio. Or to the refined ear… the most subtle dampening known to man. Thanks for the kind words!
That's sweet! I love the look and the sound as well
Sounds and looks really cool. Congrats!
Glad to see and hear that you’re doing better after your medical mishaps earlier this year. Kit sounding amazing. Take care ✌️
Hey! We can hear those cymbals now! The clarity is a definite improvement. Thanks for sharing.

Yes, clarity is remarkable! Can hear the cymbals all except for the left crash that's coming across as if it's cracked...sounds like a beat-up trash can lid. I know what the extry dry thins sounds like, but WOW, it's almost hard to hear.
This sounds incredible - and looks awesome!
Suddenly it all sounds so tight and even compressed after treatment! Pretty crazy
Absolutely awesome and cool playing .. I hear that first rack honking though on D .. Can even hear the kick drum making it resonate through . Do a EQ sweep and take it out and it's perfect
The Palace in Nassau county Long Island NY is one of the best rooms I've recorded in. Multi million dollar studio that's recorded multiple albums from some of NYs finest! Loved doing session work there!
Great job on the sound treatment. Huge difference in sound. Mitch did a very nice job backing that rig up between your house and the fence.

Great sound!!
Sounds and look great!
I didn’t have headphones in, but I can definitely tell that your drums sounded more rich after the treatment. Super cool
Love your sound studio with great drummer.
What a diffrrence. I really enjoy the sound of the untreated room but improvement from the audimute is undeniable.
Great video … really like the final result, both aesthetic and soundwise… 🔥 🔥🔥 noticeable improvement in intellegibility…

That room looks absolutely gorgeous. That being said, I spent $30 on 10 king size comforters from a thrift store and hung them on all the walls of the room. I used Paracord and eyelet screws (another $20) to hang the blankets so they weren't actually touching the walls. The sound live and recorded is very nice, and I'm out $50.
Thanks for the free snare sample. that thing sounds killer!
Wow Adam and Mitch the result is flabbergasting! It seems my Ipad’ LS has low end now…😮
You can definitely hear the difference with the Room Mics! 😎

Thanks Jeff! Hope you’re well brother!
The strata looks great I have only one comment and that is to install a 4 inch deep, 1/8 inch thickness metal frame Into each panel opening so that the edges of strata looked a bit more cleaned up and precise. After all you’re a very precise player! Great work!

I really dig that idea! Thanks for the kind words!
Nice video my bro! i enjoyed the edition
Hi Adam. Audio Engineer writing. Really good work. One thing I´d add: I think you should add QRD or skyline diffusors where the wooden frames used to be. It would look cool and add a little bit more RT60 to the overhead and the room mic and also scatter the high mids enough to eliminate nasty reflections instead of dampening them to the degree you now have. The room sounds way more controlled now but lost a bit of edge on the room mics and Overheads. Your playing and the kit sounds great though. I listened thru focal twin speakers in my studio and checked the room mics with lots of compression to get the feel of the room. But I guess that is a subjective thing...greetings from germany. subcribed
Hi sounds really cool. could i ask what is the ball park cost of such an endevour is ?
Looks and sounds great! I wish my drum room was sound treated haha.
A great player deserves a great studio!
Awesome!
YES MAN!!!!! LOVE MY ROOM TOO!
Just camera audio alone sounds killer!
Insane 🔥
What material are the panels made of? I love the idea of the artistic image, too.
Nice studio bruh!!
Nice drums bro!!!
So cool

Before or after the sound is great for me🤩
To be honest, I like that thrashy sound of a live room. After sound treatment I think it sounds a bit dull although there is more definition.
Heyo Yellowstone fan! That’s cool.
More focus sound after the work. But man, you and your kits sounds phenomenal around all planet earth rooms.
The cat. The kit. The room. Awesome.
Can't do without my PSI AVAA C20's in my small room. Without it, the pressure is too much (no Windows/doors) and foam only helps with sound acceleration.
Awesome Video! What kind of kit are you running (brand)? what are your fundamental tunings for each of your toms, snare and kick? They sound amazing! I've been trying to get a nice sound out of my Tama Starclassic but feel its out of tune, even though i'm using a tunebot, I know it could be better. Would be great to see if you could have any tips for me at all. Thankyou in advance if you get a chance to respond :)

wouaw ! Its actually my life's project hahaha. To be honest it would be amazing if sometimes you could do like some "stream" where u play for us haha. Chris turner has done his first one few weeks ago, and it was quite an experience. I think im not the only one wo could listen to u playing the drum for hours, for days.... There is no words to describe how u make us feel. I have a question, the guy who as helped u to install this, is it like a compagny which works in insulation or is it something specialised for music ? Anyway it loooks so fucking good, i think if i had this in my garden i would not exist anymore in the exterior world except to buy food xD
Amazing sounding room. Not many drummers can spend that kind of money on this so bravo. I just wish he played a better quality cymbal to take advantage of the build. Paiste Dark Energy or 602 Modern Essentials would fit so beautifully. Makes me wanna build a new room for my kit....
What’s interesting with this is it’s drastically improved the sound of the kit through elimination of reverb but in doing so it’s made the 12” snare sound empty, less powerful and, well, small. Even with eq it’s just lacks so much body now. The masterworks kit sounds amazing though, even with the thicker Evans heads “boxing out” the sound and resonance
@AdamTuminaro

Agreed, but the snare has yet to be mixed. Even at 12:49, I simply bumped the reverb and OH mics. There’s no “final mix” in this entire video because I didn’t want to take 2 weeks mixing the new room before posting the vlog. Patience. The snare will sound absolutely sick once I actually mix the thing.
OG 18-wheeler with OG 10 fucking wheels
It's a very beautiful drum sound. Where can I find more info about your drum, heads and cymbals?

Squiggles is my fav look 👌
What about that backing maneuver!
How much do they charge to put the room back to how it was before?
❤️
Hate to say it, but I like it before the treatment. There is space and depth. The treatments might make it exact but doesn't give the set the amount of presence that the "before" gave you. I appreciate the video, think I will go with a half and half set up when I start throwing cash. Thanks and awesome drumming as usual!

The Charred wood sounds best! imo
How much did it cost to have Mitch treat your studio?
The sound is more focused now. It was more of a roomie sound before, and now it’s more direct. How much did it cost?
Those squiggles look sick

Try out the DW single 3000 - super good and it's built like a tank
Did Audimute send this to you for free, Adam? Or, did they send it to you very heavily discounted?
Seriously tho, what about dust ? Somehow I keep getting trapped into living in dusty places, I don't think I would get that for me ^^ Also I'm cheap I'm probably gonna make myself some rock wool frames with cloth and call it a day

Am I the only drummer in the world that enjoys playing drums in a more ambient room ? I don’t think drums ever belonged in a sound dead room. I actually loved the way the room mic sounded before the treatment ? I’m sure I will be public enemy #1 for even mentioning it. I know rooms have to be treated because of neighbors. I was always wishing I could somehow have an ambient room on the inside ? But have it sound proofed on the inner walls somehow. I guess im a foolish dreamer

You’re conflating sound treatment, and sound proofing, which are two different concepts. It’s explained briefly in this video. Also, read the pinned comment.
Adam is one of most talented drummers of all time. In my experience
very cool it'd be more cool if they changed on there own big difference on the sound
your kit sounds nice than the mixed one
Nice work....How much $$$$$$
