I keep a camper at Keen Lake a few miles away in Waymart PA. Honesdale is a nice town and I can confirm that the Wayne Hotel Bar and Restaurant is quite nice also. Lots to do in the area such as hiking and kayaking the Upper Delaware River. I personally keep my motorcycle in a storage facility and ride the beautiful roads of PA and NY most weekends. Dont forget the Irving Cliff Brewery just a couple blocks from Hotel Wayne.
Best commercial I've ever seen lol.
I watch a lot of your videos on a 50" smart TV. my KZread is set to autoplay and I fall asleep listening to your top 10 videos. I found this one to be among the very best. I may even plan a trip to Honesdale. THANKS

@@vickyabramowitz4919 I often let Briggs' videos lull me to sleep while I dream of moving back to Washington. Honesdale looks pretty enticing though.
My mom grew up here she loved it. I go up from just outside of Philly at least 10 times a year. I love that you Love Honesdale as well as PA! Thank you for showing everyone just how great this place is!
My wife have been to Honesdale and stayed at the Wayne several times. Matter of fact, we were there just last night and I had the Philly Mac n Cheese... it was AMAZING. Thanks for the great video!
Dude, you have to see Pennsylvania in the autumn. It's gorgeous.
Agreed. I'm from near Philadelphia, in PA, when you get out of Montgomery County, traveling north on I-476, it is beautiful.

One thing I really like about your drone shots Briggs, You don't get to high and away from the subject. It makes it more personal. I mean other than the times you are trying to get a whole town in the picture.
Honesdale,Pa is a beautiful small town. I love the videos and the ton is really nice and friendly. Great videos.
why do I watch your videos so much I’m not even old enough to legally move out
Yep......great little town. Been there many times over the years. Had a good friend that lived there. And yes, that's a BIG Harley shop there.
Enjoyed the video a lot 👍
What a gorgeous hotel!

Vancouver is a beautiful city. Last time I went was on the way to Whistler Blackcomb.
I used to live there, too! When I saw the other video, I thought the same thing. I was surprised not to see Honesdale there. Glad to see this video show up on my recommended! Thanks!!!
This was so relaxing and real. It made me want to patronize and explore many of the country's forgotten small towns. I love PA. too.
I’ve driven through Honesdale on my way to the Wayne county fair. Seemed like a really nice place. Really busy probably because of the fair. Love your videos man! Keep it up!

Hi. I used to live there. It’s busy in the summer (with people coming up to their lake homes and all the camps ~ and of course the county fair!), but the bustle dies down after Labor Day. I love & miss it very much!
Now, this, is my kind of town --More old stuff than new! What comfort it gives me to see things that have endured for so long and continue to outlast even the more contemporary things we build today.
Didn't hit one pothole? On the way to Honesdale? What roads did you take? LOL. Love your videos by the way.

How'd you like the Hawaii one?
We saw your latest video on this town....and we also fell in love with this small town....we are from Phila and have been living here in Northern Calif for years.....the small town that we are living in has grown and with that has come the drugs, etc....we are of retirement age and would like to take life easier, and this town seems to be the place to go to.....we have missed the changing of seasons , the beautiful fall foliage.....we love all of your videos and your funny comments....

Honesdale would be really affordable.
Different video, but very cool!
kinda proud I recognized the One More Light instrumental
Very nice and nostalgic
Born and raised, wouldn't want it any other way. The song, Winter Wonderland was written by a citizen of Honesdale, Richard Smith. If you love history, you would enjoy the historical society on Main Street with the Stourbridge Lion replica, delaware and hudson canal artifacts and so much more. Central Park has one of the first Civil War monuments of the state erected in 1868. Can never spend enough time taking it all in. As for Hotel Wayne, one of a kind. Art Wall Jr who lived in Honesdale won the Masters Tournament in 1959. Maj. David Mckelvy Peterson volunteered to fly for France until the US entered the war. He became the U.S. first flying ace in World War I, born and buried in Honesdale. Christy Mathewson played for the New York Giants in 1900's as a successful pitcher and joined Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb and others as the first class for the National Baseball Hall of fame. There's so much more! Thanks for portraying what you did, I hope you are back to explore more of our unbelievable town.
I enjoyed this video a lot. Liked all the history too. The hotel is lovely.
OMG! Excellent video!! You did a great job telling the history of this wonderful old historic hotel. My family comes here all the time. Great food, great wine, friendly staff , history and of course the ghosts. Oh, yes the ghosts. Thanks for a great video.
I love going to historical places and learn about them..
Great video. Love the Hotel.

Yes, east coast people give their hearts! I'm glad you got to experience that.
I must admit I like old hotels too. Some of them can be quite haunting and cozy.

Thank you. I love that town.
Love your videos, i moved to this area from SF Bay area love it, doesn't hurt I have relatives here. Glad you made this video.
Awesome video, thankyou.
Hah, never imagined that Honesdale would ever get sophisticated. In the late 50s, we, the boys from Morris County NJ would ride thru seedy Hawley-Honesdale to Lake Como PA for a few days of beer-soaked rowdiness. We sought work at the camps up there, shot 3030s near Buttermilk Falls between Lake Como and Equinunk. Ate Groundhog sandwiches (reluctantly). Really loved seeing how Hawley developed lately around the Silkmill and Ledges Hotel. Great memories, except when I broke my ankle and 2 front teeth in an accident on a late-night trip, in a '49 Ford, near Sparta NJ! Loved the video!
Excellent video, one of your very best. Thumbs up to Historic Hotel Wayne in Honesdale, Pennsylvania. "A+++"
Really cool to finally see you M Briggs ;)

Did he match what you thought he'd look like?
If you like history you should check out the irma hotel with the silver saddle saloon in Cody, Wyoming. All original cherry bar big staircases like the one in this video. I don't think they've ever remodeled it so it looks, feels and smells old but not really in a bad way. Buffalo Bill named it after his daugher. In Powell at the Lamplighter Inn they make a mac and cheese burger sandwich and my father in law orders it everytime, he absolutely loves it.
Great vid! Will be going to Pennsylvania in September for a wedding. Hope I will have time to visit this town.
I absolutely love history and culinary. I'm currently attending school to be a pastry chef and I had a really hard time deciding between regular culinary or baking and pastry. I can't wait to visit Honesdale PA someday ,it looks amazing. I'm still trying to figure something out about how my baking and pastry can tie into History...hmm..will have to keep you updated.

As a matter of fact, there is a bakery for sale at a location that was well known for many years. We desperately need a GOOD bakery in town. When you get out of school, a great place to tie history in with your baking.

Interesting video. You tasted the food and thought that it was chef prepared while I looked at the plating, especially the salmon, and arrived at the same conclusion.

Hi… The whole town is relaxing!… I always tell people Honesdale is like something from Norman Rockwell. (Yes, I love it there that much.)
Uncle Briggs! I like old hotels like The Fairmont in SF where we stayed there and we walked 29 miles in one day ! We love exploring on foot .
Wow its funny to see that you went to Honesdale. I lived there for little over 9 years and i MISS IT! My kids still live there. You must go back for the country fair! Its in August 2- 10th this year. I'll be back in August for my daughters wedding and the Wayne county fair. There are so many places to eat like The crossroads, best hot wings ever! Cook is a graduate of CIA. Down to earth, relaxing pub/restaurant. Glad you made this video and the other one you made about Honesdale. Keep up the good work on your travel videos, i enjoy them.
Very cool to see a different type of video! This actually makes me want to go and check this hotel and town out. Side note...I don't know what I expected you to look like based on your voice, but it wasn't what I saw. Not meant in any negative way, just thought it was funny.

Wow!! Thats a nice hotel!! I wanna go
Yes. PA is a very beautiful state with nature and it's people. But I'm sure you have that in every state, but PA has nice little towns that we love. The food is unreal also. I'm from suburbs of Allentown and same old small town feeling. The mountains are half an hour away, national parks, amusement parks and alot of things to do indoor and outdoor. It's a beautiful state.
Are they nice to people from other country. I saw your video and I love it. I'm planning a trip to Philadelphia because you...
had to stop at stairs. the mountainview inn in cleveland tennessee. a beautiful old fashioned grand ballroom entry. check it out.
Briggs, it reminds me of the Hotel In Groundhog Day .
I need to try that Mac & Cheese. You should do a meet up there Briggs.
There’s so much more history to our town that you missed. So you should come back at some point and head to our historical society/museum (next to the post office) to learn more!
There is a car mechanics garage in Honesdale whose floor is so clean you could literally eat off of it. Meticulously scrubbed at the end of each day. Been that way for at least 30 years. I would not have believed it but a friend took me there several years ago. Spotless red and white floor. May be more impressive than the Wayne Hotel.
good job!!
Great video Briggs

You should come back to honesdale when wayne County fair comes to town in August
The harley dealership is called bear. They sell a ton of different offroad vehicals. Trust me i go to honesdale every day of my life. Right next to hotel wayne is a really cool fire museum where the very first locomotive in america was built
Yw and you should a video on North Carolina
Subscriber and like all of your videos So interesting I am from NYC. Did you find a house?
The hotel looks nice. The architecture is wonderful
Briggs, thanks for sharing this, sir; I would rather drive a little further and stay in a smaller town that’s rich in history than a corporate chain hotel any day. Might I recommend the Copper Queen in Bisbee, AZ? There’s a restaurant next door (I can’t recall the name) that has some of the best Mexican cuisine I ever tasted, staff was top notch as well. I stayed there on several weekends when I was stationed at Ft. Huachuca.
Next time you're in PA, look me up and I'll buy you lunch at my favorite joint, the Bullfrog Inn, Georgetown PA.
Cool! This was a blast from the past for me! I worked at Tyler Hill camp back in the summer of 2003 and spent many of my nights off at the hotel bar! I also stayed at the hotel a few nights....such a fun place! I’d like to go back some day (I live in Nova Scotia Canada) is there still a little pizza/burger joint next to the hotel? I remember writing my name on their wall...Great video!!

Another place in Honesdale you should check out is The Himalayan International Institute. They guy who puts together Roots and Rhythm is the Retreat Director there
You ever in north-central Kentucky I can get you a nice room at a nice bed and breakfast ( the b&b is world famous )
I too loveeeeee older houses, buildings etc.... i want to move out of .CA to a state where there's tons on historic buildings and houses, rural farming, isolated is my kinda place.... must be green rainy mountain or green.. Please please do a video on towns i can move to safe but isolated
1st thing briggs thank you sir for your service to this great country 2 you are so right about pa if you get out of the cities it is so pretty i live in greensburgh pa and have the best of both worlds pittsburgh is 35 miles away and i live in the laurel highlands if i want to go to a big city aka sprorting event airport world class medical care in pittsburgh its not a far drive and i have great trout fishing and hunting and nature in my back yard ! if your ever in western pa ck out westmoreland co brother oh and a ton of history also french and indian war ect ect ! love your channel
Can you do a video on Hawley PA?
You should definitely live here
I stayed at this hotel a couple weeks ago September 11th it is a little creepy but its cool! I was told that the king room I was in on the 3rd floor was the center of the “Hauntings” in the hotel idk what happened in the room i was in but it was cool
Can you do Missouri next :)
Nice effort and good to see a different kinds of video, but I feel you could move the imagery a little more in the opening instead of long voiceover of static images (like using a few more images instead of keeping on one image).
Hi, Mr. Briggs, I apologize if this question is too personal but why do you have "Ronin" on your arm? Thank you. Loved the video. I got family in the Endless Mountains in PA, don't know how far that is from Honesdale.
you need to check out 2 towns in pennsylvania hummelstown and carlisle they both have lots of history and molly pitcher is buried in carlisle
briggs if you wnat to see a beautiful town in pa go to aaronsburg. look up the history, we had never heard of it and actually went there for our honeymoon it was the nicest place ever, look up the history and if you get a chance to go we stayed at a rustic cabin called the waterhouse retriet. you will love it if you love history and the host there kurt who now owns the cabin will tell you all about the history of the town

Honesdale sounds like a very nice place to live, retire, or raise a family. I'd like to move my kids and their families here. They are all wanting to move to Texas. That sounds too hot (and floody) for me. I'm from Illinois and I would miss the seasons in Texas and I'd be happy if it never got over 79 degrees, 82 max if there is no humidity.

Gale Memee of 6. summers are pleasant here but winters are generally pretty brutal. It's a bit north and elevation is high enough where it gets pretty cold and very snowy. winters are long. fall growing season is very tough as well because of night time temperatures. It's Sept 2nd and the last week has been in the low to mid 50s at night. We'll probably see frost at night by months end.

Gale Memee of 6. We'll if you don't like the cold, it's probably not good. I do like the cold and snow so it's a win win for me. I don't like things too hot but I can always add another layer to keep warm. it's great here but maybe plan a little vacation in the winter months to see if ya can live here all year long. if you like ice fishing, skiing, snow mobiles you're going to love it. If you aren't a fan of cold and snow, it might not be an easy retirement. I am not trying to discourage you at all but just wanted to let you know of an aspect of the area people might not think about. It is a great place. ps Mr Briggs must have gotten the , it's gonna be on TV room at the hotel. I have stayed there one winter when my water pipes froze up at my house. My room was much different than his.
They still cigars at the end of the bar? 😆
I'm from philly n a nice suburb of philly...n hate to say but I think west coast is 100 Times better...small towns in northern California and the nature are just so beautiful...sf..eureaka ukiah willits...n really want to see more of oregon...
Honesdale is a nice town, but "no potholes", you can't be serious!
