My Solder Mask UV Light BROKE! | Can I FIX It?
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
I use this thing all the time, but it's stopped working. I don't remember dropping it! 😬
It's the catchily-named QianLi Intelligent UV Light Curing Lamp, and there's definitely no UV light coming out of it!
If you want one, they're here: amzn.to/3Men9vB
Let's have a look and let's try and fix it!
Hope you enjoy!
Steve
PS. I'm not an expert in repairs at all. I do this for fun, and it may not be the best or safest way to go about repairing broken stuff. I'm pretty good at melting plastic though. Please don't copy me - I'm an idiot.

not sure but it looks like there was an empty spot just right of the Y1 for a 202? I wonder if that's intentional?

I kept wondering how you were going to solder mask the exposed track/wire on a soldering mask curer? Mirror contraption? 😂
Since these are filmed under a microscope I tend to lose the sense of scale for the components you work with. I'm always really impressed when you fix stuff but seeing just how tiny that transistor was makes it even more impressive!

When he puts his finger on the circuit board... XD There is no way you're able to fix it without a microscope and a micro soldering tip.

@@goku445diode gone wild does this stuff with half an ounce of rosin and his grandpa's soldering gun.
Just in case you were wondering, these 2 digit 7 segment displays are simply light emitting diodes tied together with a common anode and separate cathodes. Each segment lights up when a current flows from the common anode to it's individual cathode. Each digit has one anode so in your case, more than likely that anode was on the same power rail as that transistor. When it exploded, it knocked out two things in one go. The positive supply to the first digit of the display and also the UV LED too. Some segment displays work the opposite way around...with only one common cathode and separate anodes. (Just to confuse us all!)
Beer and watching Steve fix a uv light on a saturday evening, weekend highlight for sure.
I watch 3dbotmaker and lockpicking lawyer. But your videos are the best. The tunes, the electronics, the humour, and youre so down to earth. Keep it up mate
Really is full circle when you fix the things that fix things. Well done!

Hadn't heard Circle of Life in ages. This morning, my daughter starts listening to it. I go upstairs and start watching this video to get some respite. And then BOOM, here it is again. I'm so confused.

STEZSTIX FIX!!!!!!!!!!
Well done, Steve! Good thing you didn't need solder mask to fix it... I'm glad the timer works but I still didn't get the conundrum in time... 😂
And "Summertime" style parody in one video! I am done!
Haircut looking fresh Steve
Hopefully you don't need to put any solder mask on the solder mask curer 😬
ah yes. and now it is the time that he starts fixing his old things. im here for it Stez
I have exactly the same device. I love it. Thanks for sharing the repair
Playing at the top of your intelligence. A treat, thank you.
Well done on the repair,it looked a bit tricky, looking smart with your short back and sides haircut.💯✌🏻
Another SOLID job, done well! Thanks for sharing!
Your flow is so good, l love the VOS Patreon time 😘
Ahhh Steve, this is my favorite gadget that you use in your fixes - so glad you were able to get it working again!!!! Great *solid* fix as always. P.S. also thank you for showing us how really tiny these components are - under the microscope they look normal but its only when you show us the reality does one appreciate the effort involved!! 😀😀

Solid video Steve!!
Steve: YOLO Dave: Deep PCB analysis
this was a real Bill and Ted moment. you left a note for your past self to purchase the exact component you needed. and when you checked, yes you had indeed completed the loop.
It's incredible the size of those components
another great fix well done
Always a good day when you upload!!!
Steve love the videos ,please do a video, if you haven't done one, on the settings for the multimeter and how it works ie where you put your probes on boards and the various settings on the thing for all of us who have one but don't understand the hows and whys of it. solder skills to to die for thanks mate
Solid work!
Good work!
Crazy soldery thingy great video
Well done Steve you are a legend 👍👏👏😊
otro exito de Stix, otra mision cumplida, bravo
Awesome video as usual man!
Another Tech device fixed by your good self Steve 👍
I love to see that you swim against the tide of this throwaway society and bring even cheap things back to life with little money, persistence and brain power.
Great job!
Average American chiming back in -- your Americanized version of "continuity" is spot on. Nobody (that I'm aware of...) says "multimeter" like that, though. We pronounce it the same. In spite of that, I still found it hilarious and even appropriate. carry on :)

That's a cute lil device. All I use is this UV "flashlight" (torch?) that is for highlighting car A/C coolant leaks. It comes with the pretty yellow glasses. Very stylish! LOL It's bulky and bright and is just the UV LED panel with 4 batteries inside. Very basic. But hey, it works. But I do like that lil device you have.
That synth tune is a real banger!
good fix steve
Nice fix
I'd forgotten that disassembly song. Nice.
great job!
I like the "summertime" haircut. 😊
Another Solid fix👍😁
Amazing lyrics and remix for Summertime 😊
Steve , it’s been a real pleasure watching your skill set advance. You’ve come such a long way in such a short time ! Great fix and always entertaining to watch you work and the commentary is just the tits ! Lol😂
Hair cut looking fresh mate
Nice job....love your haircut! You should try a flattop, you'd look great
The song this week is an absolute banger!!!!
I love fixing things that are said to be unfixable. Its like winning against "the man" lol.
OMG that rhymes for this is amazing.
Props to the makers of this lamp to mess up the design of such a primitive device.
Hey Steve! you should put some conformal coating on that little bit of wire, you know? put the conformal coating on then get your UV.......OH!
That song is going to be stuck in my head all day now..... thanks....

I asked in a previous vid, so excuse the repeat question. Which microscope do you use? Mine has mosquito noise on the screen - not as clear as yours (mine was the cheapest I could get, mind). Love everything about your channel. Learning lots.
Great guide. I just used it to open a brand new device to solder in a lipo since it came without it 😂

One love circle of life device😀👍❤️🥂
Solid!!!
Like the Red Dwarf reference 😂 Chameleonic life forms No Thanks!
If I had to guess that transistor is getting hotter than it is designed to due to a design issue. Maybe replace with a higher rated part or add a heatsink if it fails again. It might have been good to see how hot it gets using a thermal camera?
