My Soapstone Cookware Seasoning/kalchatti Seasoning/Traditional Cookware Seasoning

In this video i have explained clearly about the seasoning of kalchatti.
Step 1: Apply castor oil and Turmeric powder and allow it to sunlight
Step 2: Repeat the above mentioned step for 15 days without washing in water
Step 3: After 15 Days give a wash and fill it with Hot Rice starch for 5 days.
Step 4: Change the Rice Starch everyday
Step 5:After 5 days Give a Wash and fill it with hot water and keep it on the stove in low flame and start boiling
Step 6: You can start cooking in the kalchatti by adding dal, veggies but not tempering till it get practised to heat.

    Nice explanation. Is ur pots well seasoned n good. I am planning to order from MMA Shop. Will you recommend buying there?. Is the quality of pots good. I bought 2 earlier.. inspite of seasoning well developed cracks. Pls suggest.

    Thank you sis,actually i bought kal chatti and big paniyaram pan from MMA only,but i followed full procedure of pre seasoning perfectly, its good for me you can buy it from MMA

    How to clean panniyara kal??? Bcoz I too used it but it's smells castor oil....

    Clean it with hot water,and the first batch panniyaram you make will give that smell and then it will be ok

    good one. For Kalchetti, you should not put tadka directly but what about kadai, is it the same process?

    Hi, I have a soapstone paniyaram kal. It cracked and broke a little bit in the bottom and it’s not smooth anymore 😞 i reseasoned it but afraid if it will burst on the gat stove. Do you have any suggestions for using cracked or broken maakal vessels? Thanks!

    Actually if soapstone cookwares not seasoned properly will give this type feedbacks only,but once if starts cracking its not good to becoz by heating again will develop more cracks,so better avoid using that paniyara kal

    Yes mam, I think seasoning was the problem. I bought from Madurai and they seasoned it for me. Probably they didn’t do a good job. Anyways, Thanks for your suggestion. :)

    S s just give a wash with any dish Washing liquid, and first you start boiling water and then followed by cooking of veggies and dal,but dont do Tadka for few weeks till get practiced to heat.tadka you do separate and add it
