New day! Thank you for this Mel~I’m so happy I discovered you.

This is EXTREMELY inspiring to me, as an artist who pretty much only works in sketchbooks and likes to just sketch stuff I see in my day to day life. I'm not one to do huge finished pieces and I'm too lazy to make hyper detailed paintings on even a semi-regular basis. What you have done here feels achievable to me, to see someone doing what I'm doing and having this kind of success is absolutely amazing to me. You have given me hope for my future as an artist. I recently had my first public art display, I put my collection of finished sketchbooks up in a display case at my local library. The whole "theme" of it or whatever was "I didn't fill a sketchbook from cover to cover until I was 23, this is what I've accomplished in the last 4 years." I want to see more people use up the sketchbooks they're hoarding! It was crazy cool to be able to do that display. I hope I could inspire even one person. You gave me an idea of what I might like to do next, sketch recognizable views from around our city and make it into a collection. I know it's something that would resonate with people here! We're only a medium sized city and not that well known, so it's extra special to see local art of local places in my experience. This was such a cool video, I'm really glad I stumbled across it. Thank you for sharing this with us!

Thanks so much and so wonderful to read your comments and hear your thoughts on sketching and keeping sketchbooks. They really are inspiring to me and I love sketching things I see. Your next idea sounds like it would be worth doing and certainly inspire others to sketch. That's how I started -sketching the buildings in my area and then it grew from there. Keep going!

Ahhh - "new day" is such a lovely invitation! As a new painter in my late 50's, I feel so drawn to your lovely practice of sketchbook walks. Lovely to hear! Have you come across our collaboration we did back in 2021? That was pretty fun to do- a series of 3 videos.

New Day!... Embracing each new day as an artist who has experienced numerous setbacks and losses, I find solace and hope in the promise of new beginnings. Every dawn brings with it the opportunity to create, to grow, and to forge ahead with renewed determination. Despite the challenges, I remain steadfast in my belief in the power of fresh starts and the endless possibilities they hold. Hugs all the way from the Netherlands :)

Wholesome. Thanks for sharing. There’s something so pure and raw and real about landscape painting/drawings from life. If I had beautiful scenery like you do I’d probably do more art like that. It’s also really fun doing this in less beautiful places! My uni city is very grey and brutalist and I spent a week filling a mini sketchbook with buildings and landscapes from life. It made a place that will never be conventionally beautiful new and exciting to me, and made me feel much fonder towards its oddities

All the way to the "new day" and I enjoy your videos quite a lot. That's saying something. I've mostly been an abstract artist all my life. For the last few years I've been doing more abstract landscap-ish things. Anyway, I'm sure I'll be watching more of your videos.
