Bought my 2016 Superduke GT two weeks ago, and absolutely love it. First bike I had was a 2007 Suzuki Bandit 1250, very comfortable with lots of grunt. After that I abought a 2007 Honda CBR1000RR Repsol and the speed was awesome. I then decided I want the sports tourer comfort but with superbike shunt and this GT hits the sweet spot! This Supeduke GT is actually quicker up to about 250km/h than my '07 Blade.

I got a 2017 SDGT a few years ago. it is light and docile enough at lower RPM for my wife who normally rides a Yamaha FZ6R. This bike is lighter than her 600 and has nearly triple the power on paper but the delivery is so refined it is not intimidating for her at all. I ride it too. At night my 60 year old eyes simply cannot read that dash (there is not enough contrast). Near impossible to turn the heated grips on at night on the fly for me. We have the ergo heated seat front and rear. It works great. Is just a little more comfortable than the stock seat. Where I need a break after about an hour on the stock seat I can go about twice as far before feeling that way. There is room for improvement to be honest but the fit and integration with the electronics will not be as good if you go aftermarket. You post caught my eye because I started on a Bandit 1200S. I was looking for a CBR1000 at one time too but I got a KTM990 Superduke instead (still have it love it). I wanted a Tuono but recently followed one on the 990 and I think I will just keep the 990. I also have a Kawasaki Concours 14 which can get the job done pretty much at the same pace it just takes a much heavier input than the SDGT. Be careful with the bags on the SDGT. If you do not get them all the way closed they can open while you are riding even if you locked them and if it happens that will break the restraint that keeps them from opening all the way ( same for the Kawasaki . . dont ask me how I know this).

Bought the KTM SD GT in 2018 and love love love it ever since. I have the Powerparts seat, which I would recommend to you. Besides I also can recommend two things, which reduces fuel consumption and makes the bike easier to drive in lower RPMs: Fuel Dongles (Rottweiler), and ESE exhaust valve remover. First you would think it makes the bike louder, but after all you can drive the bike in a higher gear. If you like a new design: Motoproworks is fanatastic. Yes, the garage. I have a carpet in mine for our bikes (KTM and my wifesTriumph Streety 675R) to sleep well. :-D Cheers!!

Thank you for your post! I'm in the market for a new sport tourer. Having owned about 4 Multistradas and recently a 2023 BMW S1000XR (blah), I'm torn between an Aprilia Tuono V4 factory (with touring windscreen) and a KTM Super Duke GT.

If you’re deciding between these 2 bikes I would say the Aprillia, I toured Scotland on mine and it was fine (I did a video) - the KTM was a great bike, but they can be quite unreliable. The Aprillia was a great stable, powerful bike.

That is not the R&G fender eliminator but the KTM factory accessory fender eliminator or tail tidy. aomc.mx/61408915544.html I've had my GT since 2017 and absolutely love the bike. The KTM heated seats are a bit pricey but well worth the spend because of the extra padding but the best part is I can ride a bit longer in the cold because the heating can get nice and toasty. I highly recommend checking out Rottweiler performance as they have a healthy selection of aftermarket parts and some they build themselves specifically for KTM motorcycles.

I still use a air cushion seat cover for long trips . Cruise control. Is still slow to re-adjust on gen 3 but never had cruise on bike before so massive difference to me on Europe trips . I sold my 2014 Tuono and bought a 2019 SDGT. Yes it can go mentally quick on it and potter as well, but I don’t get the buzz and the grin I got with the T. IMO, it’s a functional bike. So I’ve just bought another Tuono Factory to compliment it. Good luck with yours. And remember, team orange are always there for you to purchase things that should come as standard 🤣

flip a coin, no real practical difference you will be happy with either. some people dont like big twins, it will never chill out always on edge ready to bark at the slightest switch of the throttle. it will let you know if you are reving too low cause the whole bike will shake violently. the s1000 will be smooth and feel more friendly esp when you are burbleng around town at low rpm. the BMW should give you better milage too.

Hi thanks for the video. I’ve got a gen 1 superduke gt on my short list along with tunono, s1000r and mt10. My budget is 9k max so I can’t stretch to a gen 2. I’m struggling to get a test ride on a used gen 1 and I’m worried about reports that they’re lumpy and have vibes below 4K. Have you ridden both? What’s you take on this?

Hi, No problem the aim of my videos is just to help people. I had a Turono before my Superduke GT and they are great and a beast; however it depends what you want the bike for. I changed from a Turono to a Superduke so I could tour easier. It is true what they say about the Superduke they are a little lumpy at low revs, but the speed and aggressiveness of this bike makes you forget. My mate has just brought a gen 2 and I am due to do a video on it soon so I can compare, but I believe they are smoother. I have actually upgraded to a BMW S1000XR which i do like; however I also liked my Superduke. Hope this helps.

It's a 75 degree V-Twin mate. Even with balance shafts it is gonna have a few vibes. It's called character .... if you are used to in-line fours it is a totaly different experience. No need to worry, it's just how these things are. Try riding a 990, now THAT has some issues below 4K but it is cured quite easily! Always remeber the KTM credo .... "Ready T RACE!"

you got a ktm for fuel economy? i have a 2016 and it sucks down gas, same milage as a concorse14. guess its all perspective and what you are coming from. when I'm getting after it I find the abs incredibly intrusive, the electronic suspension gets wack I think it gets confused by california roads and goes wicked harsh even in street (if anyone knows where I can get 2019 electronic suspension update in california please let me know all the shops I call sound confused when I bring it up). ktm is not known for good luggage and these are no exception. the saddle bags are a wiered shape an odd trapezoid in both directions, they are small in volume and wide enough to catch the wind and hit the fuel economy touring, if anything is resting agienst the lid when its closed it dosent seal and lets water in, its verry difficult to know if they are properly lached and I had one fly open on the freeway tearing out the stop block and damaging the lid. once had a pool toy wad up in the real wheel and for some reason ever since whenever the battery voltage is slightly low it gives me a warning light for the front brake light switch. the switch works fine but every time it comes up it cancels the cruise control witch is pretty jarring when you dont expect it. changing the front brake light sitch is a job and a half because you have to tear apart the entire front of the bike. the dumb switch has a pig tail and plugs in way down under the gas tank, and I dont even know if that will fix the problem. this is my first European bike and the first oil change they flesed me $496, highway robbery! I learned to do it myself after that. i used a antigravity battery and when stuck in traffic one day and with the exhaust tight there it got so hot that it when into thermal shutdown and shut the bike off completely dead. I had to push it to the nearest exit to cool off the battery before I could make it wake up again. just stick with the stock battery. for me the handling is alright. it wants a good sticky front tire or eltse it goes all ghost on me and dosent put it where I expect it, but if I do it will be worn out in like 5 good rides. i just put sport touring rubber on and just live with the divorced front end. my concorse eats rubber too but feels direct nomater what I put on and its a far hevier bike with triple the miles. I like its got the brains to run regular gas withought causing issues. the stock seat is super nice, feels hard then I notice I've riden 8 hours in one day and the seat barley crossed my mind. I've had softer seats that feel like torture after 3. people complain about the heat from the engine to me its barley noticeable. the power to weight of this bike rivals the h2sx witch is neat, real rocketship. overall good bike do not recommend unless you get a deal under 10 grand. the most problematic bike I have ever owned. I'm scared to tour far with it away from my tools because if there's an issue the dealers charge so mutch to even look at it.

Hello mate, how has been the reliability of this bike or what's the common reliability aspects of this bikes in general. I want one but in my country there are only 6 of them and a friend of mine got one in part of a car payment, I'm tempted to go ahead and buy it but 1 isn't cheap even though my friend would sell it to me cheaper than he got it 2 tax in my country is outrageous and I am willing to stand for it but I don't want to pay that enormous premium tax and have a bike that just sits on a workshop and last but not least is the fact that as the market sits here in Colombia I would probably be married to her for a long time as isn't the most comercial bike here and people fear this bikes but I'd love to have it, love it and respect it, so hopefully I'll hear from you and your experience and what you see is the comments on this bikes reliability on Europe where there are many of them and people do enjoy them. By the way it's a 2016 gt with all the options, from Akrapovic full system, to heated seats, heated handlebars, panniers, top case, power parts confort seat and normal seat, rizoma everything, and has about 40.000kms we don't know about service history but the best guess is all have been done in KTM as there are not many shops that would work on this bike on important jobs but let's say it has never stepped a KTM shop and imagine has had the worst life possible (it doesn't seem to but you know, better to be prepared for the worst)
