Congrats on everything you have accomplished thus far and I wish you nothing but the best in your future! These videos give me the motivation to keep going as I prepare to take my MCAT and go through the medical school application cycle :)

Oh my god! That’s just what I think when I decided to apply to the anesthesiology residency program! I wrote my thesis on sepsis and I spent a whole year doing research on the intensive care ward. I fell in love with the way the anesthesiologists were handling things… it was mechanic but in a charming way plus the confidence they had was so captivating. You also picked my brain on the sport thing: I master the art of repeating the same exercise till I master it ( or at least 11:09 I handle it a bit better than before).. but I never applied the same principle on my medical career though it makes so much sense!!

High school senior here looking forward to an anesthesia specialty too! Good luck on your journey, I hope to learn a lot from Dr. Andersen!

I just wanted to say that I super appreciated your take on choosing anesthesia because you realized you were passionate about learning certain skills in order to excel at them, not because you were just naturally good at things. Gosh I'm so excited for u. Wow a 4 hr interview? That's crazy. U did look very sharp 😊.no I didn't geus rt 😮. Do u watch Dr. Max Feinstein Hes in his anesthesiologist fellowship. Super neat guy. My doctor told me we lost 2000 anesthesiologists during covid. Some just quit others retired. Then we lost another 2000 since. Hope u get into 1 here. I will follow any where u go. I'm just so proud 👏 of you! ❤❤❤

Pro of being anesthesiologist is you most of time work with patients on surgery days because surgeon will be saying don't eat by mouth after midnight and you learn patients medical history from medical records most of the time day before or same day surgery time and ask few medical guestions from patients and/ or their loved ones. Some time patients will to go recovery room or icu room for post few hours to 24 hours with anesthesia in body system, then another medical or surgical specialist making decision if patients is safe go to home and eating by mouth it's could be days, weeks, etc.

I’ve seen some Instagram friends along the interview trail and some people at the ASA conference recognized me, but I’ve also seen tons of familiar faces at my interviews 😂

What is an advanced residency? Is that the same as a categorical residency?

Categorical is when you do all 4 years at that program and Advanced is when you just do the 3 years of anesthesia there and do a prelim or transitional year program elsewhere!
