No. 1st things 1st cover engine with plastic then start with a base wash follow what ever process but to make sure no water goes down a ripped hose or breather or filter that is ripped. next - air gun out the engine area of everything again be very careful to make sure dirt and debris dont get stuck somewhere.

Does look like most components will be reusable just a crank regrind/polish new bearings, re hone the bores, reseat the valves good to go new piston rings. So far Scott is doing everything right perhaps not the Ferrari way understandable With what resources he has. I will give him benefit of the doubt. He actually making good progress so far.

That's because he's an inexperienced and unqualified idiot in way too deep over his head. He should just sell that BB for the sake of the car and its historical significance because he's never going to be able to restore it in his tiny garage with a total lack of necessary tools and equipment. This is not just a case of it needing a wash and polish like so many fools are suggesting. This car has rust issues and needs to be taken back to bare metal, the rust cut out and holes repaired with new metal, then it needs to be properly resprayed in the period correct paint of the time. I imagine it was painted in a single stage paint, not 2 pack, given its age.

Great video as usual. Can’t wait for the next in the series and can’t wait to hear this beauty fire up and roar. Would be great to see Larry Kosilla in the UK working on his staple Ferraris and giving you and the benefit of his consummate knowledge. If Covid intervenes, then maybe he can send over a box of goodies to you and instruct you how to detail such a bad paint job. You could even do a YT live session? Might take a couple of hours but that beats watching the wizard of oz again or would perhaps entertain us during the inevitable lockdown 3.0 in January’21. Whatever happens, before you start that car, give it a full fluid service and maybe put some of that extra thick engine oil they use straight after engine rebuilds. Also bet the water pump will let go after so long a period of inactivity so watch out for that as well. Hope it goes well and keep the vids coming pls. 😃

The situation was that when you unlocked the drivers door the passenger door was also unlocked via electromagnetic mechanism and the converse occurred. However using the key on the passenger door enabled that door to be locked/unlocked but did not lock or unlock the drivers door as there was no electromagnetic mechanism within the door.

Scott, great video as always and so glad that you're on the way to getting the keys situation sorted but, for the love of God, get your Henry Hoover out and vacuum up all that crud and dirt from around the engine, the interior etc. You're opening up inspection panels and turning over the engine etc and you've got about 2kg's of filth just sitting on the engine and in the intakes... plus God knows how many spiders, nests etc. Finally.......you could do a lot worse than give the body a decent wash and clean up, not detailing just remove all that green slime ! It's going to be a fantastic car though, just as long as you keep it stock !

Excellent video. Just subbed, cant wait to see this one progress. I do not know anything about these cars, however I was thinking, If these cars have an electric fuel pump (I could very well be wrong here lol) you may want to dis-connect it before you turn the ignition key to the on position to avoid potentially pumping whatever is in the tank into the fuel system. Cheers mate, looking forward to the next vid.

Hi there I have rebuilt starters and alternators over here in the US for yrs. The Signal post has to be unsoldered, the preload spring, post contact, and cap replaced. The positive on the top lug is supposed to be constant hot, the bottom lug powers the starter motor, andwhen you turn the key the ignition supply’s power to the small post.this energies a coil sucks in the plunger pulling the driver into the flywheel, and the plunger contact connects constant power to the starter motor spinning over the engine to start the car. I would recommend disassembling the starter motor and checking for corrosion. If The armature has been left still due to setting, energizing the starter may caused more damage. Also suggest freeing up any stuck brushes, used a light amount of grease in the bushings/bearings. Not to much tho it will cause premature brush failure due to arcing on the Armature end. Our family owned shop Acme Alternator is here in the United States in Bluefield West Virginia zip 24701. Call me if you decide to rebuild your alternator or starter. Given it is a rare car that I’d like to help you with this. I’ll do it at the cost of parts. Due to personal privacy related issues I prefer not to post my cell information online. I will send it via email once I receive a response back. Thanks and good luck with your find
