My Putting Green Is Almost Done // Mowing Long Grass After Rain

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

My Putting green is so close to been done. I'm hoping it fills in before winter so I have an awesome start to next season. Today I have to cut the lawn a few times because it's long after a couple of days of rain.

    You just gotta embrace it at some point. Those folks think you’re weird for cutting 3-4 times a week or more, but then they marvel at the “finished product” and wonder how you got it that way. 🤷‍♂️

    I'm a greenkeeper mate, just to touch on a few things, looks like you've got a bit of dry patch on there, and a nutrient deficiency nothing to do with the HoC, you need some wetting agents in there and some more nutrients if you want to maintain them sort of heights, i've seen myself go out and cut from 10mm down to 6mm and its only yellowed off for a day and came back with nutrients in 2 days. Also, looks like you need more lateral growth, get some products to induce lateral growth not vertical growth and give it a verticutt and you should be well on your way to maintaining them heights, plently of wetting agents on them dry patched areas though!

  • @LawnTips

    @LawnTips

    4 жыл бұрын

    I’m also a greenkeeper. 1. Not dry patch 2. I use wetting agents on it 3. If you’ve seen it come back in 2 days must be bent or it’s optimal temps for Bermuda 4. Too late in the season for a verticut, it’s quite cold here, nights are down below 10 degrees C 5. Again it’s not dry patch.

  • @saltytree729

    @saltytree729

    4 жыл бұрын

    @@LawnTips 8:35 looks hella like dry patch! i beg to differ but if not thats some serious nutrient deficiency so i hold my hands up if im wrong! Nice one! If its not dry patch which is awfully hard to tell on camera even by eye its nutrient deficiency so my bad, i'd bet if you probed it for moisture with a meter it would be around 12-13% though, would be an interesting test to see what its at. You can verticut or scarify any time with the right cocktails do it all the time never stopped us in 20 years. I've seen it, lack of nutrients like i said but it may of picked up if you've fed it. Again, you've got too much vertical growth i can see on the camera the greens bare on the close up even on your new videos top dressing just wont do it, get some lateral growth going and your ball will roll better and you can mow lower even in winter 7mm-8mm is fine, roll will pickup when you get some lateral growth on it aswell. Hope it comes good! nice to see the progress!

    Glen S I’ve done a few videos since this you may like to watch. Not sure where you live, but here this grass is about to go dormant so there will be no growth at all and it will go brown. You might not have experienced that before. It’s 100% not dry patch. But anyway, all good, definitely hard to tell on camera. Thanks for watching mate, hope all is well. I’m also aware of everything you are saying with Height. I was a super at my golf course. 👍🏼 Not anymore because I’m doing this as my job now.

    Joe Quattro From what I gather in my watching, it’s affordability that pushes Ben to the older mowers. The Swardman was a demo he had to return.
