Yes, wanted to play this morning (have not used my PS3 for a while) only to find out that the red light was gone. Took the power cord out and in again, reg light came on and started to play GTA5. After only 5 min. it went out, just like if the power cord had been removed. Took the power cord out and in again, then started to play again, same thing after a few minutes... Now, it even goes off while I am on the PS3 menu, even doing nothing... Still haven't found a fix....

Dude wtf I had the same problem about two years ago and tried this for a laugh and it actually worked, thanks you so much bro hahaha

holding the eject button doesn't always remove a stuck game. Sometimes you may have to hold down both the Eject and the Power buttons at the same time and then connect it to the power source. This help me, the light will go blue and then an internal fan will blow for about 10 to 20 seconds. By this time the CD should be ejected. Also holding the power button after connecting to the power source can help go into safe mode, which requires holding down the Power button whilst green until 2 beeps are heard from your console. On Safe mode, select the 3rd option which is 'Restore File System'...System will clean itself up, clear all corrupt files and the console should start as normal after this procedure

when I had sign in my ps3 account and it lets me sign in and then it makes a weird sound and it turns it self off

I've been struggling with this for a few days. Just tried your trick and totally worked! The fan is making a weird noise now though, and I laid it flat. My brother has had it on it's side for years, so that could be part of the provlem too. Thank you so much!!! I was so sad and afraid I'd have to buy a new one! After years of not being allowed to play video games, my brother finally gave me his ps3 and I bought a tv for it.

In my case it was the optical drive being bad connected. I opened again and connected it better and started working fine again. Hope it helps ( probably other parts being bad connected can cause this issue too )

Unbelievable but it works in 2023. I was depressed and had no hope. All other videos saying u gotta replace motherboard psu and whatnot but simplest fix was not among the top searches unfortunately. Can't thank you enough. Had no hope and felt like an idiot standing while pressing the power button and watching the clock counting till 30 seconds ended. Turned the power button on an bam. This is an awesome fix and worked on my 80gb fat ps3 and is a genius fix. Who knew that it was just the capacitors in the PSU that needed to be discharged in order for it to work again! 😱👍

the problem I'm facing is the same as the video you posted.. so I don't need to spend money on repairs. Thank you very much and very helpful.

When I play old games like, past CoD games, past Assassin's Creed games or just any old games my PS3 can stay on for the whole day, but when it comes to new games such as AC Rogue, LBP3 or Advanced Warfare it turns off by itself in like a few minutes of gaming, never has it lasted an hour with a new game inside.

Mine still turns off, even though I go through your process every time, every time I turn it on, it stays on for like 5 seconds, then it completely turns off, without showing a red dot or any light.

Applies to me too. My PS3 Slim would shut down during gameplay. Around 10-40 minutes depending on which game I play. The only exceptions are GTA V disc version and the digital games. I could play GTA V fine for the whole day if I wanted to, but not any other game.

Yours is corupted file asher damian delete the game install and dlc of that game sync your trophies and then turn off ps3 then back on it should work.

Guys, also make sure your ps3 is getting enough power! Try plugging in your power cord in a Wall, not an cord extender.

How does holding the power button when there is no power to the PS3 fix the issue?

thanks, first unplug it, hold eject button plug it back while holding the button. The fan will turn on and then try what the video above said.

This is a power supply unit (psu) issue best to replace for about £10/$16 but can be fixed easy for free if you feel comfortable taking the console apart.

It does a reset to default when you hold down the power button for 30 seconds with the power chord in i think. Not sure how having the power chord out help. (cord or chord ?)

My turns on the then turns off but when it's turned on I can't see anything on the tv but still trying to fix my ps3

I have the original fat one and it lets me play for a bit, gets my hopes high and dead xD then it allows me to play after that though so thanks.

Thank you soo much brooo I was disassembling my PS3 Slim 320GB to replace its CMOS battery and when I reassembled it and turned it on, it does the issue of turning on and off for a few seconds It made me lose my mind for a momenttt Thankfully I found this video and it is straight to the point! Didn't help me. Thanks anyway though. It was worth a try. Mine will run a few minutes and instantly shut off without warning. To solid Red light. Looked around inside, pretty clean. I also was going to try a power supply "fix" I saw on another video, but mine is a little different. So I've ordered a new power supply, same model as mine on ebay. Perhaps replacing it will fix my issue. Thanks, again, for those helping the ones who this worked for.

The only other thing I think I'm going to try is to reflow the motherboard. Now i gotta spend more money on a heat gun. It's really my only hope left, other than give in to Sony and spend God knows how much for them to fix it.

I didn't work for me but then I held the power button for 30 seconds while it was blinking (it stops blinking once you press it), then pressed the eject button and it worked. It ejected my disk and turned on. It's been on for about 5 minutes now and still working. Thanks at least for the idea!

Stoliie if it is a fatty hold the ps3 power button down till u hear 3 beeps after the inicial beep like "power on beep then a few seconds later beep ........beep beep" then go to restart ps3 option because that will put the ps3 in safe mode so select restart ps3 then tell me what happens. this works on the fatty but im not sure about the slim

WHAT do I do to fix my PS3 to show a picture it has the green light it stays on and the control's dont turn on just the green light is on but no control's or picture what do I do

Mine didn't work I did everything you said on the video why it works for everybody els😔

I put a game into my ps3, then it shuts off without any beeping. Later it does what you described and I tried what you said. It didn't work, any help? edit: The game iddn't go fully into the ps3 but I can't pull it out, I assume it's the PSU?

+BreakfeastProductions yea me too i fixed there was a little piece i took out and it worked! the piece was inside the ps3

i have the same ps3. when i hold my power button down it beeps 1 time then shuts off and i have to click the button again to show the redlight.

Going to try it tomorrow and it’s already 2020 if this works your a king my dude

One of the millions of reasons why I moved to Xbox. I had my xbox 360 for about 3 or 4 years and it's still working like brand new.

I got the red ring of death on my xbox after about 2 yrs.. I've had my ps3 for almost 6 years and I just started getting this issue. So I don't know why you're saying something like that

My Xbox got red ring twice in 2 years. I've had a ps3 for 6 years and it's still fine.

thats funny to me because i went through about 5 360's with the red ring of death and most people i know who had the 360 had the same problem. they are machines and will eventually break down.

I have assassin creed 4 but when I try to play it's turning off and I got that game for my birthday

ummm when i turn off my ps3 it turns off then the green light flashes for like a couple seconds then thats when it turns red and its completely off does that mean anything?

My ps3 has a problem when some games like uncharted 3 don’t load some sections leaving a weird outside to areas in game and quitting the game to go on something like KZread makes it crash and turn off with 3 beeps occurring

mine turns off after an hour or after 3, no red light no anything, i have to unplug and plug it back in another socket for it to revive. Is this the same issue you had?

can someone please help me? so my problem is that i'll play any game for about 10 minutes when my ps3 suddenly turns off. when i turn it back on, it says that the system wasn't turned off properly. its really frustrating for me because i want to play my old games but i can't because it keeps turning off. i have tried various methods but nothing seems to work. please help!

It happens to me sometimes whenever I open skyrim. Never had a problem like that until I bought the game. But no more shut downs on the 2nd try

It seems simple. My ps3 got overheated and I did the “cleaning-fan thing” but still go overheated(without being hot” and turned off. After that I used a vacuum to suck any dust left but still got overheated. What do I do??????

My problem is that when I do an update it takes ages of course but like after 4 hours or something it turns of for some reason
