Anakin and a very reluctant Obi-Wan board the Invisible Hand to rescue Chancellor Palpatine, who apparently hasn't been killed by the Separatists for no specific reason.
Also they fight Dooku.

Normally, killing the enemy leader is a paper tiger offensive move that actually galvanizes the enemy. However, Palpatine is a high-stakes gambler that always wins and several of the Clone Wars battles were near misses that only succeeded because of Palpy’s faith in his minions! A bickering interim ruling council easily could’ve lost the entire war on accident!

Palpatine planed for Dooku to die by Anakin’s blade, and move closer to the dark side as a result. It was also important that Obi-Wan (the closest Anakin had to a brother) not know about Padmé’s pregnancy, so that Anakin had no one close to him, apart from the chancellor, that he could turn to. These three are messing with Palpatine’s plan.

Anakin was the one who didn't think Obi-Wan knew and didn't want to tell him out of fear of disappointing the closest thing he had to a father. Part of the tragedy being how Obi-Wan would have been completely understanding, even if Anakin chose to leave the order.

Yes, Obi-Wan knew, but it is possible that he may never reveal this with his former apprentice. Now that it is out in the open (the chancellor, a sith lord and Kenobi are clearly privy to this information), this may prompt Obi-Wan to discuss with Anakin about it and show that he is understanding and that he is someone Anakin could turn to.

It did make him come off as a real Jedi killing threat and I believe they had Anakin kill Ventress to give credence to their "Sith Lords are our speciality" line. I need to rewatch that series, it was so good, and kinda more impressive for what it accomplished in a series of shorts. Mace Windu taking down an army of droids with his bare hands is awesome!

The ROTS novelization does a good job of pointing toward another bone of contention between Anakin and the Council. The Council was shocked Anakin defeated Dooku and attributed it to a fluke because in their arrogance they could not believe Anakin succeeded where Yoda and Windu had both failed. Sidious cultivates this.

Which is exactly why Sidious told Dooku to get captured and than betrayed him. He knew Dooku could kill Anikin if he didn't fuck around, so he set the plan up for Dooku to be captured by the "evil Jedi" who'd later be freed by the Empire as a loyal hand of the Emperor. But instead, he taunted Aniken, didn't kill him as planned and instead of getting captured he was betrayed by Palpatine so that he could seperate Annie from the Council more. Dooku was probably the only Duelist in the Galaxy who could match Yoda and Sidious in combat. His old age was the only downside, in his prime he was outright better than Yoda with a saber. In was in one of the books that Darth Plagious told Sidious the grand plan would fail if Dooku became Jedi Grandmaster as not only was he at that time better than Sidious and probably Plagious both, but his thoughts about how to be a Jedi were not as dogmatic. Thankfully for them both, Yoda could live for a long fucking time and Dooku didn't age well.

It makes sense when you know Palpatine is the puppet master and that they wanted Dooku kidnapped for the Sith's grand plan, but as many clones and General Grievous himself pointed out in the novels how stupid the CIS looked.

@@InSanic13 Not exactly. The novel's version of the events depicts a more detailed version of Palpatine's and Dooku's plan. They had Palpatine kidnapped in order to have Anakin and Obi-Wan recalled from the outer rim sieges, the plan was to lure them to the invisible hand, and for Anakin to "defeat" Dooku and bring him in as a prisoner of war and to have Obi-Wan killed to drive Anakin to the dark side. They were going to paint Dooku as a noble man trying to fight for equality and depict all the heinous war crimes of the CIS onto Grievous. Sidious betrayed this plan, as Dooku wasn't expecting for Obi-Wan or Anakin to be so powerful or skilled. Added on that Palpatine in the novels and the comic version gave Anakin advice on how to use the dark side during the duel to increase his power. Along with Palpatine ordering Anakin to execute Dooku, which is why he's making such a surprised face in the film as that wasn't "their" plan but rather Sidious plan.

Every time they try to patch an obvious plothole they just make another plothole😂 How did they see the destruction of the Hosnian system? Hyperspace tears that allow the entire galaxy to see what's happening in real time. You'd think that sort of technology would have serious repercussions!

@@planetbob6703 did you hear how they explained Rey using a mind trick and defeating Ren in a lightsaber duel in the force awakens. Apparently when they entered each others minds, she absorbed all his knowledge and training yet it is revealed she knows nothing about the force in the last jedi, thinking it is a power she has. If learning how to use the force was as easy as reading someone's mind, the jedi wouldn't have spent years training all the padawans if all they had to do was read yoda's mind and be the level of a master.

Can we appreciate that Count Dooku is acting like Obi-Wan and Anakin's old professor that put special attention into them? When Anakin tried the "I have an honest face" line, he didn't just call him out on how silly that claim was. He went full Socratic Method on him. Still teaching his old students to his dying day.
