Agreed. The level of time and tweaking this server took makes me thankful for the community. Portal really needs even more options to make it the best it can be, but for now thank goodness there is some level of control.

15:36 God i love the voices in this game. It makes it way more immersive and as if you’re actually there. Battlefield 1 did this flawlessly, but was missing in Battlefield 5. I’m so glad to see it’s back because man is it impressive that the characters accurately describe their situation and feelings about it.

Not just battlefield portal, but 2042 in general. Portal is going to be the most popular part of this game.

The only thing I would change, is being able to see your own squad, because otherwise playing with friends is extremely hard!!! Other than that, its perfect.

Loved the part around 9:35 when you could hear the Russian battle chatter on the other side of the hill. You won't get that in BF2042 multiplayer because each side has the same "operators"

I don’t know if anybody’s mentioned this in the comments but the communication between the characters as in, inside the game. Is the coolest thing ever at 2:38 them talking to each other is the coolest thing ever!! Even though the game needs a lot of work they did get a lot of details in

@@gangweedmlg1423 True, but even in BF4 players would operate much slower than usual in hardcore. Everyone, including vehicles, behaved just a little bit more carefully. I think that's the point they're making.

@@illiteratebrian1707 Thats exactly the point. I played a few hard core servers on portal and they all caused the games to play out much slower. And these maps, despite a lot of complaints about being too big, when you play slow and advance slowly up as a team, every space between objectives is a Battlefield and I think theres plenty of cover and different elevations to use as cover. Just look at this map. It's huge, but played slowly, all the "empty space" is utilized.

I love how this mode changed everyone's play style. It felt so natural it's so cool!

This server really slows down the game to an almost perfect level. Insurgency meets battlefield. Was very impressed by the pub team work.

7.62mm headshot should be one shot in HC. Portal is a revelation and the only reason why I would buy this game.

Or the old 2142 system where there was a squad point system that only unlocked during gameplay as the squad earned points. Giving you scans, ammo drops, drone support and stuff. Really liked that dynamic as some gadgets where locked for squads only.

It's crazy how much the HUD takes away from the visuals in every battlefield game. Ik it's kinda necessary in base gamemodes but game looks so good without it

Honestly they could’ve made the hud so much less intrusive in the base game. It would still give the game 99% the feel that no-hud gives in this game mode, but they could’ve totally added simple objective markers, ammo count, a compass, a basic minimap, and some weapon/gadget icons without making the hud look crowded and ugly. Take squad for example. They have a really minimalist hud that tells you all the necessary info. It would be super easy to take that style of hud and add a couple more elements. An amazing hud in a game like this needs to be informative, yet simple enough that you don’t notice it’s really there during gameplay. It’s possible to do but the BF devs just did a big dumb.

@@quidlits3604 Sandstorm doesn’t really have the massive scale that battlefield has. I played the original insurgency a lot and it was amazing, but it’s not really the same thing. I’d say squad is a much better comparison to this server. Can be slightly boring sometimes, but once you find a good server with teamwork it’s the best mil sim out there, and unless you choose to do boring jobs in the game it has some of the most intense fighting out of any “realistic” shooter

At around 1:50 to 2:00 the talk between Karma's marksman the, machine gunner and the downed marine is pretty down to earth. Karma's guy yelling man down then the machine gunner screaming for a medic. Then fallowed up by his downed mate. "Stay away take out the mg." As someone has already said the dialogue between the soldiers is amazing all the little details make it that much more immersive.

Don’t know if someone else posting but, Kinda cool detail heard at 2:37 your teammate congratulating you on going on a killstreak! Great, little immersion detail

THIS IS SO EXCITING TO WATCH I love the call outs, reminds me of old school halo marines

I was playing this the other day and it was a ton of fun. If I could give some advice it would be remove the AA. Not because it was destroying the air per say but rather bc we got completely spawn trapped by it on Battle of the Bulge, Caspian Border, and Arica harbor. Biggest issue was that due to the lack of cover it could just sit all the way in the back and shred anyone that appeared over the horizon, far out of range of any rockets. It could have just been the same guy in it all 3 rounds and he just happened to be really good though.

I hope DICE put most of their effort into portal going further. It definitely has the potential to be the best Battlefield game/game mode.

@@TheGhost2612000 portal let's you customize the game and also gives you access to a couple of maps from 1942, bad company and bf2 I think, and all the maps from the base game, you can use any weapon on any map, tweak the map area, damage, weapons available, vehicles available, and it's all for free when you buy the base game, one hell of a deal of you ask me, plus they are going to keep expanding the map count, shit this might be the definitive Battlefield, could be one that lasts for years, as they add more content and maps, more options, this has great possibilities and rn its a lot of God damn fun, even just the base game, but ofc that's just my opinion.

This game mode is so well done. I was actually shocked how immersive it was compared to the original game.

When I get the game I am 100% gonna try and join this server, I’ve been looking for a realistic server for ages on battlefield 4 or group but the only thing I would change would be the rushing

I feel like this concept + some modding would make an amazing game. It already looks super fun but I think some minimal HUD for certain things like medic requests, a compass, and ammo count, as well as being able to fine tune weapon damage would make it next level. Maybe a map marker system too. It would be cool with an AAS type game mode from squad so back capping strategies could be used. I guess I’m saying that servers like this could be a next gen squad type game where the gameplay is the same as squads but with better graphics and cooler maps. I would definitely get the game to play a server like this if they become popular and people really use the portal system to its full potential and/or add some mods to the game. Squad doesn’t have any gamebreaking bugs and in my opinion it’s an amazing game, but it’s still not a AAA game so it has its own sort of “jank” and obviously the graphics aren’t as good.

1:55 - The way you both look at the fallen guy bleeding out and the machine gunner yells "MEDIC!!!" is so fucking intense. the comms on the bf3/4 soldiers was crazy

Well back before Dice simplified the flight model because the majority of the player base is brain dead. In his prime, it was considered an accomplishment to merely touch him in a dogfight

When Battlefield 1 came out I went on a custom Frontline server in the Verdun map. Realistic weapon damage, health, all classes could use bolt action rifles,, and unlimited time/tickets. Never been in a crazier battle and had some nightmares about it 😆

a .308 is going to kill you with a headshot basically 100% of the time from that range, and because its hard core they should be acting like it is and not sitting still in the open and ignoring where the gunshots are coming from

To be fair, if they don't wanna get one shot they shouldn't be in the open. They should be using cover.

I pray for more servers like this. So hard to find no hud realism servers, it's a while different game

Pleaee keep the Portal videos coming. After playing Arma 3 for over 26,000 hours - Portal is what I've been hoping for - literally for years. It's obviously not a hard core milsim but just to be able to set the server up like we used to do with Desert Combat and BF2 is just awesome. And then to add over a hundred players or AI is fantastic. Sure it's still a little rough at the edges but Portal is really the only reason I'll buy BF2042.

Looks amazing without the crappy HUD. Good work, I hope they give love to portal and don't leave it to rot.

It’s already rotting. Why play a game mode where you gain no xp and make no advances in tags badges etc. EA is done for. Battlefield franchise is done for.

This is a good idea. One of the main issues I have with every battlefield objective game mode. You get a lot of players who use sniper/marksman who don't rush to the objective. In this game mode I definitely see there being a lot of snipers.

Something to make it more immersive in a way is change the respawn time to 20-30 seconds. Makes people not want to just run and gun and hold down positions and make it more of a tactical type feel like squad and he’ll let loose

I was a huge fan of BF3 and your server is the first one I've found that gives me that same feeling while also giving the squad-type experience. In no other server do I see folks working together as often. Definitely could use friendly fire being on though but otherwise awesome!

Drifts Humvee in on squad mates to the micro millimeter. Laughs at everyone shooting at friendly.

I will never forget the flaming truck that flew over Karma and then instantly exploding. Watching that live felt like watching a fast and furious movie

So obviously Squad is more realistic, but just like real life 90% of combat is boring movement of getting into position. This here looks like the perfect blend of a intense realistic Hollywood movie, and it’s just awesome. Was sitting here, thinking this was some awesome badass vid, absolutely absolutely loved it.

This video kinda made me realize that voice lines are missing from a lot of mil sim/tactical shooters, it adds a lot to the immersion

This is incredible. I did not expect custom BF servers so quickly. I do like how your DMRs and Snipers are one shot head shot. That's how it should be. There is a reason why you have to change tactics when you come across an embedded sniper. The only thing I don't care for is low LMG damage.

DMRs should probs be two shot for that though, as they can shoot far quicker than Sniper Rifles

Yeah I think that dangerous sniper rifles and DMRs are important. Although maybe most of them should be locked to only be able to use magnified sights do you don’t have DMRs with red dots shitting on people at close range. Powerful snipers work well in a lot of games and it gives more depth to the gameplay and it slows gameplay down since tactics need to change in order to combat snipers well. Maybe lower DMR headshot damage slightly, but honestly pretty much any rifle should 1-2 shot headshot a person. Maybe DMRs and and assault rifles 2 shot someone in the head at mid-long range, and high caliber snipers 1 shot. SMGs and handguns should be 3 shots and medium range, and 2 at close range. I think for a game like battlefield where it’s quite chaotic and you’ll never get quite the same amount of slow paced tactics as other games, ttk should be slightly higher than other milsim games, but still high enough that it makes snipers a threat.

This look incredible! And im so happy this kind of tactic gameplay game can be ported to console

What audio settings do you have set for your BF2042 audio settings? It sounds really good.

Karmakut, add the compass!! It would be so helpful in squad amd team comm for direction of target , enemy fire, rendezvous points ect. Think of it like dice put a button to look down at compass . My boys and i call direction via compass all the time in hardcore mode if there no map or landmark to use.

imagine voice chat comes back in games modes like this and you can talk with ur squad and the squad leader can talk to the other squads to info about attacks and defenses

So about the one tapping. I believe it boils down to the actual feel of the guns. The feeling of the weapons is designed around ttk that is fast but not too fast. Other games that are more sim in nature have a very different feel when it comes to recoil and the static dynamics of the guns. You take away the ttk and these guns seems over powered because their design isn't around 1 shot headshots and 2 shot body shot kills. It tends to break gameplay a bit

same here, i am not that happy the way they went with the specialists but i like that they are trying a new thing. i will probably be playing portal more than the base game as it gives you way more game modes to create through the rules editor.

NIAISIM here! Been jumping into this server everyday now. It is the best! The atmosphere is out of this world and the people are amazing!

I don't know anything about making servers in BF2042 or in general so I'll ask as stupid as it may sound: Is this here done with the ingame modding/editing or did you make servers yourself from scratch?

Portal needs to be a lot more customisable for it to actually have any value for me. Also, now imagine Squad looking this good.

Love the milsim style of the server. Got my buddies on it too. Only thing we dont really like is the 30 second respawn timer. Used to it in insurgency and squad, tarkov and all that. But its BF still and feel like it needs to be down a bit.

The audios from bf3 bring back so many memories

As someone whose always loved shooters and immersion growing up i started to enjoy realism and immersion a loot more things like this help until i can afford a pc some day😫

man not only does 2042 need voip but it sure as hell needs proximity chat as well. something that I think could greatly benefit milsim servers and regular battlefield gameplay

The in-game tools to stimulate teamplay have always been incredibly lacking. I don’t understand after all these years that they haven’t done more.

in my mind, SMAW stands for "Super Massive Awesome Weapon"

To bad the vehicles don’t have BFTs and squad leaders have the wristbands that show where allies are at so the battle space isn’t fully chaotic. Nobody has any smoke grenades? They could use that as cover, distraction, or mark friendly spots, also any IR lasers to paint targets for players flying. I love that driver because he’s kicking up dust and attracting attention, lol.

Well, this actually looks really cool. When I finally have a PS5 I might actually buy BF2042 pretty much just so I can play stuff like this and for zero other reasons.

If you want to make a realistic MilSim, one shot headshot should probably stay a thing

@@_R_R_R Other realistic shooters have 1 shot headshots (and even body shots) for most guns and it really works well since it slows down gameplay and it forces everyone to be tactical. Depends on the type of game you want to make, but for a realistic milsim 1 shot headshots are a must, or people will be able to duck after they get hit. Playing so you are always in cover really increases the tactical gameplay side you cannot afford to get hit even once.

I like how in 1 week your team manages to improve the game 100%. EA if you're watching take notes.

Can first person be forced in vehicles too?
