In 4 years Phily will be, I believe, in her early 30's, that's a perfect age for a marathon. Couple that with several more years of focused marathon training and it's possible. I can't say it's guaranteed because anything can happen in a marathon. But I, for one, will be cheering for her from the other side of the pond.

A lot of young kids would love to have a dream of making the Olympics, the selection panel now concentrating on only the athletes who could possibly medal will be a massive negative to future dreams. Britain loves to see our athletes compete, and some could run way better than expected. Taking part at the Olympics encourages the future generation, I feel the Olympic panel has got this very wrong.

It only takes a look at history to see that you can't preselect who has the best chance, who will win. US trials and even Tokyo marathon today show how it can go with an underdog blowing the field away

@@debrascott8775 yes that is what the Olympics are all about, we shouldn't have it all about the potential medal winners taking part, it's the underdogs succeeding and taking part which inspires the future athletes, the Olympics is not all about winning.

The selection committee can say it's about top 8 finishers but it's clearly just to save money. A smaller team actually gives you less chances at the top 8 result their aiming for. If we followed that process here in the US 3 years ago Molly Seidel never would've been selected because they would've thought she had no chance to medal.

And, of course, that you’ll have lots of fun in the process. I see in the comments that lots of people woke up this Sunday and decided to troll someone on YT. These are probably people who are sour because they didn’t do their long run yet. We’re all better after a long run 😊 Don’t mind them. Really appreciate how honest and up front you are about your own performances and how you don't let it discourage you. I am about to run my first marathon in April, as a non-elite runner who has been training moderately (30-45mi/week) for the past eight months. Your enthusiasm is infectious and soothes my nerves about how well I'm going to do. I would like to run sub-3:40 but I don't know how realistic that is, as I've never raced further than a half marathon before. I need to internalize that whatever time I run is okay, because there will be more marathons to run in the future and I should not expect too much from myself. Also, about dishes... I dislike cooking pretty intensely, especially complex meals. About a year and a half ago I had to change my diet radically from a whole foods type diet to a purely animal-based diet because of food allergy and autoimmune illness, and honestly it was SUCH a blessing for my kitchen situation LOL. Every meal is basically just a cast iron pan, a spatula or tongs, a cutting board, and a fork and knife. It takes all the time management and stress out of cooking and makes clean-up a joke. Not saying you should do that too, but that's my tip anyway! Cheers girlie, I hope the weather over there improves asap!

Both are phenomenal people, and being Olympians had nothing to do with their awesomeness. Their uniqueness, perseverance, kindness, and authenticity paved the way for their Olympic journey, not the other way around. The same goes for you, Phily! Oh, you will come to my city and I will be racing as well, April 7th! Mostly for fun though, and not anywhere close to sub 70‘ 😅

I’ve been hoping someone else would ask in the comments by now… but I NEED TO KNOW what mascara you use Phily? Your lashes are goals. Oh yeah, and your running is ok too lol

Phily, I think you still have chances to go to Olympics (if you still want). Currently, only 2 of 3 women from UK are officially confirmed, you are the fastest of them in 2024, bureaucratically, you deserve the last spot, if you (for bureaucracy) finish another marathon by 1:26:50. You can do it! It does have to be the cool marathon (like in Boston, MS, USA), the shyer "Boston" one like in Boston, Lincolnshire still have the same distance. Just try to run any marathon before April 30, and if you got a decent result, then you can tell you grandkids, "Yes, I was at the Olympian level in 2024" :)

Hold onto the dreams and they will be fulfilled. I believe it’ll happen.. I am qualified and was already to do this race here in United States. It’s 100 mile with 33,000 feet again but I told rip or whatever a hip flexor and a abductor I think at work so I had to cancel but even though I’m 62 I’m refocusing my site on the following year and I also believe I will somedayfinish this race and get requalified run and then hopefully run the race hopefully excellent and like I said, I believe you hold your dreams tight to yourself and keep going for it. They will happen so don’t worry just in enjoy the process and you’ll enjoy life peace.

I'm thinking you should race a marathon major, a quick one. I'm thinking you should consider Chicago in October because...well...I live there and well...I'd be there to cheer you on.

it seems likely at this rate that uk athletics will do the sensible thing and merge with usatf shortly. then you can qualify through qual + trials placement again ;:)

Re washing up cooking and washing. ( I’m leaving the running at the Olympics to you) I am retired but my wife isn’t - so… small dishwasher ( not a child) , prep menus and shopping in advance and wear as few clothes as possible - as an athlete you shower a lot ( hopefully) so the only real washing should be your kit ( I’m a cyclist so I know these things). Also invest in heated drying rack and dehumidifier ( boring myself now) Top vlog…and future as TV presenter or stand up once you’ve been to the Olympics.

Re: coaching, I would love if you made something for strength training and mobility! Feel like there's less of that out there for runners specifically.

I had essentially the same thought. We're more likely to see each other, though we won't know it. I just ran the Tokyo Marathon and one of the great things about that course is that it has several out-and-backs, so there's one place where I could look across the median and see the elite runners coming back, at about 30k, while I was going out, at about 16k. But the Berlin course doesn't have that, so we will just have to take it on faith that we are following in Phily's footsteps.
