My mother was a painter of pottery for one of the potteries in Burslem Stoke on Trent in the 1950’s!

@@debbiecooper9085 - Hi unfortunately I cannot say but it was for a pottery in Burslem staffs - she was in her early 20's when she worked there - sadly my last remaining great aunt who would have known died suddenly 3 years ago - she would have known - so sorry I do not know - she was a painter of pottery.

I live in Stoke (but my family are from Ireland & Northumberland). I have so many friends whose relatives worked in the potteries. One of my friends' great-grandmas was a sager-makers bottom knocker, which always makes people giggle

I love this couple ! They are so great together. She best be good to that guy. He’s a keeper and so adorable.

@@KirstenJoerg I live in Canada and we don't really have historic pottery makers here in the same way that you do in Britain. It's so interesting to watch and such beautiful pieces.

You two have very good taste and buy the bestest pieces. I'm gonna look forward to seeing you use the Christmas Teapot. However, I lost my heart to Black Regal Peacock, from you bought the first tea cups and saucers. Every time you show them, I admire every piece. The flower vase is gorgeous. Jörg is similar to my husband. If there is a chance to have a nice breakfast or lunch, he cooperates.. 🍛 You are so sweet together, both of you have a character and you can complete each other. Its so nice to see this By the way.. Im also absolutely fan of english china especially the classic styles. Although the mix of the colours was nice too, I also would have chosen the same colour (soup bowl) as a 'safe way'😄 I didnt know that 'plum' will be discontinued. Its sad. Im going to buy a couple of items in this colour. Viel Spaß Euch mit diesen schönen Geschirr!

I love that you enjoy your things EVERYDAY and do not save them for a special occasion. Why not enjoy them if they bring you a bit of joy each day. Thank you for the reminder!

I would highly recommend the factory tour at EB too! It was so inspiring. The decorating studio have pre designed sponges so you really don't need to be that creative! I think you'd enjoy their Christmas carol service in the winter. Also the Emma Bridgewater mugs are quite tough to clean but I find soaking with bicarb and water and then scrub with a toothbrush for all of the weird corners gets them back to sparkling!

Yay, so glad! Yes, love Villeroy & Boch too, it's not my fave (do prefer Burleigh) but still enjoy visiting and especially shop for Christmas items.

I loved the ceramics you bought, very good taste and great quality too. With these pieces any meal is worthy of a monarchy!

❤️ I Love ALL this pottery. I have loved polka dots all my life. When I saw the Mr & Mrs Weasley teapot, I said to myself I would have to buy that one as I'm a huge HP fan. Everything you guys bought was beautiful!

I live in Stoke (although my family isn't originally from here) and I and everyone else here LOVE seeing Stoke pottery elsewhere in the world. We all love Stoke's history and many people's families have lived and worked in the potteries for centuries. I'm so happy to see people from outside of Stoke appreciating the pottery.

😍😍 in my fantasy world, I would have the pink set of Burleigh, hands down! But it would be fun to mix and match the colors, too. So pretty. Thanks for sharing.

For my everyday dishes, I use SPODE woodland, with the rabbits and foxes being a favorite and EB mugs with rabbits and foxes. It's just adorable mixed together. I am eyeing some Burleigh pieces for my birthday this year. Thank you for the tour.

Kristen and Joerg--You fulfilled my fantasy! I have always dreamed of traveling to Stoke on Trent and buying pottery to my hearts content! My times in England did not allow for a trip to the potteries. Emma Bridgewater and Burleigh are two of my favorite brands. Many items you showed are not available in the States. Does Stoke on Trent still have the small family owned potteries? Thanks for the fun!

Not as many as there was .😪 People were very skilled in this area but not as many people in this industry. Lots of expensive places use Burleigh ware and Prince Charles has supported the factory. The tour is excellent seeing how they make and decorate the items. My husband was a director at Sadlers teapot factory sadly no more. Keep collecting guys .xx Enjoyed the video .xx

Hello both of you lovelies, I'm not posh, I just have good taste!! Perfectly put Joerg. I love the plum colour and it all looks lovely mis matched, I got some lovely dark blue cups in a local charity shop, gave one to my friend Wendy who loves old English China, she's got some beautiful bits, collected over years. Kristen I'm super impressed that you had a vegetarian breakfast, I've been vegetarian since I was 9, best thing I ever did! Lovely that you buy your parents English China, I love that big teapot, my favourite is the seashell, lobster and crab designs, if they had a range with pugs I would definitely buy! I've just watched this video four times and I'm so happy, as I love going to the china, pottery and antique shops with you. My goodness, you purchased some GORGEOUS items and aren't the factory-seconds the best? In Ontario, Canada there was a pottery made in Collingwood, Ontario, called, Blue Mountain pottery. Every year we had friends come from overseas and they always wanted to go to the pottery studios to purchase items from the factory seconds. Just like your shops, the seconds were absolutely perfect. Ah Emma Bridgewater!!! I really love some of her items. Thank you for taking us there.

I was gifted an adorable pink chintz pattern Burleigh tea pot but it came with a little chip at the spout so I’ve only kept it on display and use my Brown Betty for tea. Don’t know the pattern name as it’s from the late 1980s. But she’s a beauty! Great video. I need to get back to England soon.

So nice to see all the pottery. I ordered the Emma Bridgewater Union Jack 1/2 pint mugs this Spring. I love them and use them all the time.❤🇬🇧

I have recently started collecting Bridgewater pottery. I have the Black Toast Tea pot, 2 large Tea cups with saucers, three mugs , a dragonfly mug and dandelion mug. After seeing you at the pottery factory and following a British artist who has a very extensive Black Toast collection I have become an avid fan.

What a lovely video. I collect Emm Bridgewater mugs for my tea and coffee and I agree with you about making every day special. You inspired my to look for a plate for my lunch so that I can feel special with my cottage cheese and fruit!! Why not?

We Americans call that transfer-printed style Chintzware, and I love it. I collect it when I can find old pieces of it, but now I know where to buy it new (if they are online)!

How fun, thank you for taking us out for a day of English Pottery shopping. Wishing I could go there and shop in person, but too many fun choices, there is no way I could make any decision without great frustration.

Your kitchen looks like such a lovely cosy place to sit and have tea.☺️ I noticed near the end when you were holding the teapot, it matched your dress!❤️

Oh I truely would like to have gone on that trip. Y'all just are so cute shopping together especially when you have so much love and enjoyment. Several years ago I began liking a style called Chintz. It's so colorful and can be played with so many styles of plain colors. Actually I had no room to display any so I never pursued it. I did enjoy reading about people who do collect it. The tea pot you purchased was lovely oh dear I just thought it so pretty! I know your time was so much fun. I can hear in your voice what a great day it was. Thank you Kirsten and Joerg for sharing your lovely visit to the Potteries. We have often been to EB’s and enjoyed lunch there but didn’t realise they are now doing breakfast. It looks like the restaurant has been revamped since we were last there. We love visiting the garden which we find really inspirational, so many plants in such a small space. Ah Bridgewater, this is literally on my doorstep. We tend to go there when we need some gifts or fancy a bit of light lunch and don't fancy walking to town.

HELLO FROM TEXAS - I haven'been in a pottery factory for 30 years. In my opinion the outlets do have some good items, just have to look close for the perfection. Breakfast is my main stay, first in my house.....and when the spirit moves me, I will have breakfast for dinner too. I love that the good Lord gave us free will !!!! Hi Kirsten and Joerg from Norfolk! I think you will find the big cups are referred to as Breakfast Cups. About 30 years ago there were so many more potteries than now. Such a shame so much is now produced overseas. Always enjoy seeing your purchases.

Love Burleigh! How beautiful are the colors. Love the mismatched plates all together. I like the blue Asiatic Pheasant you picked and you can always put a pink salad plate under the bowl! Was für wunderschönes Geschirr! Beide Läden haben so tolle Töpferwaren, das ich gar nicht wüßte wie ich sie verlassen könnte ohne volle Tüten...ganz besonders liebe ich "Pink Asiatic Pheasant"! Danke daß ihr uns auf diesen schönen Ausflug mitgenommen habt! What beautiful dishes! Both shops have such great pottery that I don't know how I could leave them without full bags...I especially love "Pink Asiatic Pheasant"! Thank you for taking us on this beautiful trip!

I’m with Joerg. Love the blue royal pheasant! Also love calico designs and when I visit charity shops I’m always on the lookout for nice pieces of pottery (China). Like to mix and match pieces. Especially like Churchill. You got some very nice collection going!

I really enjoyed this 💛I have only one EB cup, but it makes me smile every time I use it 😊 (the one with bees🐝 )

When I emigrated to New Zealand, over 20 years ago, I carefully packed my Emma Bridgewater pottery. It's still all intact and enjoyed every day. Often I find pieces in Charity shops because people don't really know what it is - but I do :). LOVE the pink and blue Asiatic Pheasant together.

OMG - I love Emma Bridgewater have recently bought some of their vegetable plates and bowls - they are stunning (even the ‘seconds’ bits I bought - I can’t wait to watch this now 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩

@@KirstenJoerg - I got some amazing deals in-line and when they arrived they circle the ‘fault’ in a pen that can be easily washed off - and the faults were so tiny that in two of the plates you can’t now find the fault any more.

Love all the pottery. Wish I had room otherwise I would be so tempted to buy some. Thanks for sharing yet another wonderful vlog.
