Whatever brand truck you end up with make sure that you get a gear ratio that is designed for towing/plowing/ working. The times I have owned a truck that didnt perform well was because I did not have low enough gears. I am not brand loyal anymore. The big 3 all make great trucks and they all have their quirks in my opinion.

There aren't really any rear gear options anymore. GM runs the 10 speed Allison in all hd trucks. The gasser gets a 3.73 the diesel gets a 3.42. They get their gear reduction out of the transmission so they can run a lower rear gear.

The big3 does not all make good trucks. Mostly junk. I was a tech and shop manager and I promise you. American trucks are garbage. If Toyota brought a diesel here, they’d destroy the big 3 .

The perfect truck does not exist. But the best would be a ford super duty f350 for cab room and solid front axle paired with a international harvestor dt360 or dt466 with a Allison automatic.

I own a lawn service. I had a Ford 2002 f250. Good truck, but the transmission let go at 80,000 miles. I bought a Ram 3500. Right from the start I had trans problems. It was a straight drive. The sensors would get out of sync, and it would not start. It would also shut down when sifting gears. They admitted it was a known problem and bought it back. I had twoChevyy 2500s with the Duramax diesel. Put about 130,000 on both, not a problem one. Bought a 16 Ford F350 single rear wheel. It was in the shop 10 times in 8 months. Traded on a 17 Chevy 2500 with the Duramax. It currently has 122, 000 miles, no problems. I also have 18 Ram 2500 with the Cummins. No major problems. It is just so uncomfortable. For me, I haven't had a single problem with the Duramax diesel engine in the GM trucks. The GM truck as a whole has been a great product for me. And they will pull a mountain down while getting 14 MPGs. It carries a 9 ft boss V plow very well.

@sku32956 I have had 4 Chevy 2500s. All diesels. All put well over 100,000 miles on each. Not transmission problem with any of them. My current Chevy has 136.000 miles on it. It has pulled trailers from day one. Not a single problem with this truck.

They are all designed to stay in your pocket now.

I have a '99 F-550 with the 7.3 diesel, automatic, dump truck with Krysteel Triple Tipper bed...fantastic truck...works hard everyday and it's been solid! ...weighs almost 12,000 on it's own, hauls another 5-6 tons multiple times a day...along with towing another 5-6 tons of trailer and mini-excavator.

question for ya - sorry if it's naive - can someone without construction experience get into o/o dumptruck and get by on hotshot work, or possibly find a contract gig? im getting my CDL in 2 months and looking into options for how to put it to work. Would prefer not to OTR big rigs but I could pick up a dumptruck locally for a lot less than I could a hotshot truck or Freightliner. I'd consider mid-size (5500, f550) or a used Kenworth heavy duty. Curious what you think given your setup and experience, thanks in advance.

Hi and good question! There are guys that I know that only haul. For starters, wherever the state is building roads, they almost always need to hire independent contractors with twin axles to haul in or out. If you end up with a smaller dump, like mine - a 550/5500, then the state jobs probably won't need you. However, trucks this size are great for hauling construction materials, landscaping materials, demolition materials, trash, etc. Also, with a plow and salt spreader they are great for winter work. Working for yourself can always be hard until your name gets around. Here in the mountains of western North Carolina, there are lots of people with private roads or driveways that need crushed stone maintenance. So, if you get good at being able to drop as you are moving, then there is a fair amount of putting down a thin layer over a worn drive. Then, if you get a stout trailer, you can deliver excavators or skid loafers or other equipment for people along with more kinds of construction materials. I have never looked seriously at the hot-shot work, so I can not answer to that. Let me know if you have any other questions - always happy to help.

The reason why you were having that one second lag in your shifting from forward to reverse is because it is electronically operated shift control in your automatic transmission to keep you from tearing it up from slamming it into drive and then back into reverse time and time again

All of my transmission problems disappeared in my Ford when I changed the transmission fluid from the OEM crap. Things got even better when I did both diffs & transfer case too.

Well, value engineering takes its toll on EVERY brand. How the manufacturer and dealer support you makes a world of difference. Also any model can be a lemon. Good luck with your search.

Dodge 3500 with the 5.9 and a 6 speed manual. My mentor and I put that truck to work every week day hauling a skid loader (sometimes with a rock screen too), plowing, running to the parts stores (parts for the jobs, not the truck), and running to jobs. In the 3 years I drove that truck, before my boss past away, the only thing I did to that truck was an oil change every 5k or 6 months. That truck would work, and work, and keep working, it was amazing. There's a little bit of catch, where I am in Colorado there are no emissions tests. So that truck had all the deletes done to it.

Actually, I lied, something about the charging circuit / alternator went bad, (it was only showing 11v/12v on the dash) THAT was the only thing I had to fix.

If everyone in this industry had a good relationship with a shop or a in house tech and bought ol 7.3 super dutys and rams with 5.9s they would have less headaches

I have a 22 F350 7.3 with the 10 speed. That i ordered new it now has 30k miles on it and it tows 7-14k almost everyday. And it plows in the winter. I don’t have any of the problems you listed other than the fuel mileage.

Love my 2020 gmc with 3.0 straight 6 turbo duramax. Best truck I’ve owned! Awesome fuel mileage, efficient and it just does everything with ease.

I had always been a Ford guy. I had lots of problems with my last f250. I switched to the Chevy Duramax and I'm in love. Amazing truck.

Yup, I just bought my 2nd duramax 3500 dually flatbed.. my 1st one, a 2021 just hit 102k miles.. I've had the rear brakes done once

I've got a 2020 Ford F250 regular cab powerstroke and I use it for plowing and when I am plowing I put it in tow/haul and it helps with the shift points on long runs verses in normal, haven't had any major issues with it at all honestly

Do you think the shifting is in the programming to protect the transmission from damage?

I have a 97 F-350 460 4x4. Burns a quarter tank going to the mail box. Best mileage ever was NASCAR drafting a semi 13.4 mpg. On avg 9-10 mpg. Hard as iron tho still going only 149k miles

I work on ranches here in south texas for a living. We run 2500 and 3500. Life expectancy of our truck. 8 Months for a Dodge Problems Transmissions Electrical DPF Unexpected part failures 3 Years for GM Problems Electrical Lug nuts Touch screen. DPF The computer limiting you on power and speed. Under certain conditions. Such as deep sand 5 Year for Ford Problems DPF Some electrical problems A few Radio problems But it all comes down to having a good relationship with the service department of your dealership. But that is not always true. We have ran in to some dealers that have terrible mechanics and poorly ran service departments. In my opinion Mechanics and Services Advisers will make or break a dealership.

Don't get a diesel, with DEF/Emissions issues a diesel isn't worth it anymore! Especially since the manufactureres make GREAT gasoline engines now!

You are absolutely 100% correct! IMHO from working in the Golf Course Construction Industry since the age 15 now running the family business at 56 the only reason we now standardized our trucks to GMC/Chevy is 100% due to Mechanics, Parts Availability and General Service from our Dealership and we have ran all 3 major brands and Ford was the absolute worst in all three categories listed above period. We have also found that Dealerships will vary from State to State and the GMC/Chevy were still the most available here in the Mid West. Now further South we ventured for projects we noticed the two leading dealerships were Toyota and Dodge/Ram. It’s similar to the Caterpillar Equipment Network compared to Volvo or Doosen.

I run the wheels off my chevys. I have a 01 diesel with 462k and a 8.1 with 380k. Both used daily. Diesel is pre emission and has the common issues fixed. The gas 8.1 on the other hand sucks fuel like no one’s business but will haul whatever I throw in the trailer. 6-7 ton in a 2 ton dump trailer.

Love my 2022 Chevy Silverado 2500hd 6.6 gas Plows great & hauls amazing

The Duramax with the 10 speed is a stout combination. They are a rocketship off the line and tow really well. I just sold my 2018 Duramax dump that I worked the crap out of, with zero issues and got into a 24 crew cab and chassis. I've had great luck with all the generations of Duramax trucks and wouldn't consider straying away from them. Also I have a 24 GMC 6.6 gasser with the 10 speed Allison and it is by far the best gasser I have ever towed, plowed, and hauled with, however it does get 6.5 mpg less than my diesel empty on the highway.

Spot on! My f250 lost the steering pump at 250 miles while plowing. I also had electrical issues losing the whole touch screen. My f150 has been bullet proof

I've got a 2022 F350 with the 7.3 gas motor in. It. Absolutely love it. You can pull anything handles good and you don't have to pay the high price of a diesel and you still have the power

Can you pull anything up a hill 🤔 my chevy 6.0 gasser will lose speed and overheat going up mountains with 12k behind it. My ford 6.0 diesel will not overheat and I can even accelerate.

Fuel prices level themselves out, f250 power stroke is getting 22mpg and your prolly getting 12 mpg so you have to almost double your price per mile. Making your fuel cost more, due to the volume consumed.

I have a 2022 F-250 Tremor with the 7.3 Godzilla and 10R140 transmission. With 37k miles on it, it's been 100% reliable (well I did have to re-sync the passenger side mirror, but that was rather simple).

Hey Stan had a 1999 chevy dually diesel too was the biggest piece of junk i ever owned. Turbos, Fuel Pumps etc. Been running ford ever since f350 thru f600. 2022 i could not get my hands on a new ford any where so i made a leap to Gmc. The 2022 2500 GMC SLE 6.6 gas plows snow great and drives like a dream. I average 9.8 MPG with v plow on and brine tank in the bed and 15/18 MPG with plow off. Its relative flat land were i live . I have had no problems at all after 2 seasons . I also bought a 2024 GMC Denali 3500 with 6.6 Duramax. There is no comparison between the two. Hands down the diesel takes the win for towing. Its a dream for towing. A trailer with a 333G and you don't even feel it, but the 2500 gasser does feel better plowing and general daily driving. The 2500 gas is just a bit light in the rear for any heavy towing.

My 2022 has been my best Ford F-150 truck after having nothing but problems with my 2019 and my two 2015 F-150's. The 2022 has had several recalls (with one pending right now) and a leaking rear differential seal but all got taken care of quickly by the dealer. I'm actually just waiting for the shoe to drop, but I bought the premium extended service plan out to 150,000 miles so I'm prepared.

Stan I’ve been plowing in ford for 15 + years but when I plow I’m using tow mode and have no problems with the truck,the truck I use is a 350 with 7.3 gasser with 10 speed trans ,yours is 6 speed and ford change to 10 speed

Ram Cummins high output with and Aisin transmission. I have a 2019 longhorn and absolutely love it.

Make sure you stay on top of the Cummins 6.7L “heater grid bolt failure.” Check out Banks Power’s videos on the issue. Trucks as low as 35,000 miles have had the heater grid bolt fall into cylinder #6 and cause engine failure. In an engine that costs $25,000 plus, that is a serious issue. Hope this information helps.

2021 chevy 3500 dually.. just hit 102k , the duramax has been flawless so far.. the entire trucks been pretty good actually, i just noticed a few days hauling out of utah, that the ac seems to be acting up.. its cycle from hot to cold.. otherwise been a fine truck

I bought my f250 godzilla after we talked i love the truck shifts smooth 0 delay and i plow with mine also but the 23 also has the 10sp 0 issues with it first winter down 7ft of snow plowed it like nothing was able to keep up with it

Running 2024 GM 3500 gasser pickup, single rear wheel. Ten speed Allison shifts between forward and reverse slower than the six speed 2018 GM. The 2018 GM gasser was extremely dependable. The 2018 and the '24 are very nice trucks for plowing. The '24 is sharp looking and the interior is awesome 👌

In the rust belt it's nice to have a Ford that doesn't rust. The GMC/Chevy's seem to rust out on the fenders so badly.

Funny, The last truck I had the cab corners rot off was a Ford.

I haul a skidsteer and excavator with my 2013 Chevy Duramax Dually and absolutely love it!! Pure work horse

We are long time Ford drivers, we have a 1997 7.3 power stroke dump truck with only 150 000 km, that is a complete powerhouse, we had a 2007 F-350 6.0 that we maintained and for the most part was very good to us, and now we have a 2021 F150 2.7 ecoboost that is good for personal use and light duty work, ive had more issues with the new 2.7 than ive had with my 7.3 and 6.0 combined and its only 3 years old. but, ive taken an interest to the new Silverado HD 6.6 gaser, simply for its price point and capability and look forward to giving them a try. Here in southern Ontario there is a lot of landscapers running GM trucks.

I have a 6.7 high output work truck at my job with 500hp 1200 ft lb of torque runs great pulls like no other and is fast as hell they are the number 1 diesel out rn hands down

I love my 2023 silverado 1500 2.7 L turbo 4x4 for my work truck. bought it brand new last sepetember and I love how it drives and hauls and looks, I put a louvered backrack on it.

Hey Stan, both of my sons work in hardscaping. They've used Ford and an Ram diesels but now they're onto GMC Denali diesel with the Duramax and the 10-speed, just as you're looking at and they love them.

That was probably the old 6.5 liter diesels in the gmc. Mine has no guts either. But the new ones are really good. Def go for it.

I have a 2020 F250 with the 6.7 power stroke. Absolutely love it. Now you can get the power stroke in a high output. Ford for Heavy Duty Work, however you CAN NOT beat a GMC for luxury and ride quality. Ram’s are more affordable, and have high rebates, but there is a reason for that.

I’ve had my 2018 F-250 powerstroke and I’ve been very happy with it. Biggest problems I’ve had are death wobble, which I fixed 5 years ago and never came back. And the water pump went out about two years ago. Other than that it’s been an awesome truck!

if you get an f250 go desiel and the mode function does things like limit torque and hp and adj shifting patterns

The newer Duramax engines seem to have a lot of injector problems, MAF sensor problems, and there's starting to be more cases where a dowel pin on the crank snaps off and stops spinning the oil pump which wrecks the whole engine. Their 10 speed transmission is also a cheaper built version of the Ford 10 speed. Ford is also having issues with the new HO 6.7 Powerstroke, but I'm not sure what the issues are. Ford and GM also still use the same CP4 high pressure fuel pump that's been problematic for years. I do know a guy that has to replace the def heater in his GMC about every 2 years. I do tend to lean more towards Ford lately, but if I was to buy a new diesel, it would be a Ram, but I would hold out for the 2025 model with the ZF 8 speed transmission. A lot of people would agree that it's the best transmission currently made. The only problem I know about with diesel Rams is a bolt that holds the grid heater can loosen up and get eaten by the engine. However, Banks has an intake horn and plate with a heater built in that eliminates the potential issue. And as far as a "treat yourself" interior goes, Ram has that one for 5 years now while the other two are still playing catch up. I know you don't like dealing with electronic and computer issues (I'm the same way) but all 3 have issues with that stuff. GM is probably the worst though just because of the way everything is integrated and software updates are done over the air with no warning

@@bryandevries7210 it's a Ford designed transmission that GM modified to make cheaper. The deal between the two companies was that Ford would design a longitudinal mount 10 speed and GM would design a transverse mount 9 speed. Ford ended up not using the 9 speed after they shared their designs

I would be interested in your thoughts on how the GMC handles a plow on the front. I think you should go for it. I'm a Ford guy though and think if you had bought a diesel Ford you would like it.

90s 6.2 6.5 are gutless becuase they are made to last thats why the military used them. I have a 98 GMC 2500 with a 7.4 gas that I bought in 2019 with 64,000 miles from a old fella. I put 20,000 on her so far and no issues. Basic a daily for me, I haul max 1 ton loads occasionally in the bed. She handles a fully loaded 6,000 pound dump trailer with ease. Hills are no problem! Should have tied a gas back then but definitely GM has the best transmisson on the market then and still do!

My heavy duty mechanic friend drives a Chevy 2500 Heavy Duty Diesel with Allison Transmission every 2 weeks loaded in the bed for 1300km or 800 miles. He also hauls a boat a couple times a month in the summer for 100km or 60 miles. He loves it and have never heard any complaints or problems with it. Approximately 170,000 km or 106,000 miles on it. Hope this helps.

I have a 2017 GMC 2500 HD Denali Duramax the only problems I’ve had is the Def pump. I have 88,000 miles on my truck. I love my Truck! I haul hay / cows / 25’ RV And my Mahindra 6075 Cab Tractor. No problem plenty of power and rides great. I heard bad stories about all Three. The way it is now I think you take a chance on anyone you buy. Good luck

Ive had fords and Dodges . I have to say , my buddy has a denali dually duramax. Loaded. It's one of the strongest, nicest trucks I've ever driven . Pulls anything, and very smooth.

Hello Stan, My first truck was a 1971 Ford F250, and I loved it. I've also had 3 different 1965 Ford F100's and those were the best. My 2nd 65 Ford I drove that truck from Michigan to Arkansas, and I didn't even think twice about if it was going to make it. I would not own a brand new Ford today. The newest Ford I had was a 1993 F100. I think any new truck made today are junk, The employees today don't put pride in the work they do, not like the old days. Love the videos. I have a 2022 F350 6.7l diesel. Love it 10 speed. I've not had any issues with it. 33,000 miles on it now. I plow snow commercialy here in Grand Rapids Michigan. It's so far been a great truck. I've owned 2017 2018 2019 F350s 6.7 diesels always been good trucks. Now my dad on the other hand 2018 F150 eco boost nothing but issues. New tranny at 40k miles new turbos already. Got my buddy who has 4 new 6.2 big blocks no issues. He owns 2 2024 6.8L Gasser f250s and nothing but electrical issues. 1 truck just got a new Transmission at 5200 miles.

Stan, You gotta try a Cummins, I switched from Ford to Ram And I was a die hard Ford fan. There's a reason all the semis are 6 cylinders. Laramies are also pretty nice!!

@@RitchardSpudz Of all the Cummins engines in the states, that 5.0 is the one to stay away from. It doesn't have the reputation of all their other engines. Cummins themselves have stopped production of them.

Stan I was a diehard Chevy guy for 25 years what got me to switch to ford was the repair costs each and every year from new I would spend between $1500 to $4500 to get my Chevy inspected Tie rod ends Idler arms ball joints Wheel bearings A arm bushings ( I wound replace three right bearings for every left one explain that ) now I plow and tow as you do also Chevy's are tire eaters I would get 20000 miles out of a set of tires no matter what i did now I purchased a Ford F350 regular cab 6.2 gas I have had it for 4 years and I have put one set of brake pads one caliper bracket ( the slides were froze )and one set of tires I purchased that truck new it has 78000 miles no wheel bearings no ball joints no major repairs at all yes no fuel mileage and rough ride but a work truck all the way chevy front ends are not strong to handle a plow yes the ride is comfy I would stick with ford my next ford will be the 7.3 gas GODZILLA same options that i enjoy now thanks love the channel

My guess on wheel bearings they weren’t using new washer and nuts for the new bearings the dodges you need to or you’ll be replacing them again soon

I have a 09 Chevy D - Max and love it. 6speed Allison. Reverse gear is super slow. With that being said they now are 10speeds and don’t know if they travel in reverse faster. The man I plow with has a 2022 6.6 gasser reg. cab and loves it as well as his 2018 D-Max. My Allison has the time delay but got used to it. TEST drive both gas6.6 and the D-Max

Reverse is still the same on the new ones.

We run a 2024 Silverado 3500 z71with the Duramax at work, it pulls our Bobcat E20 like a dream. We have only put about 20k on it so far, and the only conplaint I have is the rear leafs arent as stiff as I would like, but its not bad by any means

I would love to see some HD trucks from overseas to help with competition, it seems like all three are just in a race to add new glitchy features rather than something reliable and capable. I heard for a long time if only the parts were interchangeable so you could take the best parts from all three you would have an amazing machine. I would love to give a glowing review but all those in the trades that I know have a variety of makes and models and they all have issues that should not be issues as they have been put in trucks for several decades.

HD trucks are a think only in North America. For example in Europe to drive a HD truck you need a commercial vehicle license. And overall Europe is so cramped that there is no sense in trucks. So no overseas competitor in HD truck segment...

ran a 2015 GMC 2500 slt to 600k....head gaskets and glow plugs....thats it.... got a Chev High country 3500....A Cadillac that can tow anything....Had it year ..zero issues. EDIT...both diesels ...Sound system even in the 2015...great!...sound system in the 2023...amazing....Chev/GMC.....know how to make a nice truck.

I have a ‘18 ram 2500 6.4 hemi I bought in ‘20 with 20k miles on it. It threw a valve in ‘22 at 46k miles and I got a new engine. In 23 at 59k mikes tranny solenoid went out and got a free new transmission. Gas mileage averages 11 mpg city and 15 mpg highway w/cruise control

Now I’ll be honest with you Stan is that I live in central Wisconsin and plowed and pulled with diesel pickups for years. The diesel are nice for pulling but the problem with them is that you get a granny low reverse and it’s that the worst but depending on how fast you want to be in the truck. Best what to get around it is to plow to the pile and stack later on or have the machine to do it. Secondly no matter any make of diesel truck they should have time to warm up before going down the road 30 mins we did in cold temps abt 5-10 mins on cold summer mornings. But the Cummins is a reliable motor. The duramax engine or the latest model the L5P is a solid truck from what I here but gms new 6.6 gas is just as good. I would almost ask the dealers and machines around you and ask for there input on each truck with the different motor and trans

my 2002 k2500 with 6.0 gas, 5 speed manual has 385000 miles on original engine an trans. been very reliable. was thinking about a f250 till I watched this.

I run a GMC 3500 (2022) duramax land yacht but it’s like owning a Minni semi truck , we tow with it and have a drag pro and front plow on it been running it 2 years with zero issues it’s a work horse !

9:32 im tell you if you get diesel get Cummings. Denali is really really nice. But i will never have another duramax ever again. Unless you put a 2002 duramax in a new pickup. I have a 14, a 19, and 20 Cummings have never had any motor or trans problem. The 14 has 256k and has pulled a 25k lbs 85g for over 120k miles. The 20 has pulled same 85g for 40k miles still perfect. My personal 19 h.o. has 55k miles has pulled 43ft 5th wheel double with a polaris ranger crew for 27k miles.not one problem.

Stan I love the Duramax trucks we have an 06&08 one has 400,000 and the other has 340,000. These are pre Def, I know the diesels are having some issues with the Bosch fuel pump. I would always go with GM but I have not heard much bad about the 6.6 gaser either.

I’ve got a 2009, F350 V10 and a 2010, F250 V8 , I haven’t had an issue with either one of them. I keep up on all maintenance and these trucks have performed beyond my expectations. I won’t buy a new one especially at today’s prices.

You should stick with ford. Unfortunately your truck was probably a Covid build and sat in a field waiting for chips, they are hit or miss it seems like with any brand during that time. We have a 21 F-450 6.7 with zero trips to the dealer and all it does is tow heavy. Also a 19 F-250 6.7 that has only been in for a steering dampner recall in 75k Miles. Your 14's with the 6.2 and 6 sp. torqshift are known as one of most reliable drivetrain combo's, so its surprising you have so many issues

Damn I love my 2018 F250 with the 6.2 gasser, i get a solid 12 mpg with no trailer and 9 with my trailer

Adblue tanks and lines have heaters in it to keep it from freezeing

Ford sucks I’ve worked for a dealership for 10 years that had both Ram and Ford Franchises. Ford always had way more issues and When our Service advisors put in warranty claims, Ford Warranty dept would always try to get out of it. Total nightmare. I have soooooo many stories it’s not even funny

I really love my F150 as well. My wife and I bought a 2019 XLT at the beginning of Covid for a really great price really low payments and it has been such a reliable truck for us and what we need it for. For the price and the capability that we needed this truck suits all of our needs and handles like brand new still.

Traded my 2017 f 250 I bought new. 6.2 liter 6 speed regular cab. Best truck I ever owned. I consistently pushed beyond it build. Bumper pulled mini ex and track loader with trailer/ machine weight around 14,000. Mountainous area. Pushing engine hard. You are correct about pause when shifting to reverse Traded for a new f250 w/so powerstroke. 10 speed Tran. Averaging 18 city/ highway. No comparison when towing. The 6.2 really worked to tow up hill. The powerstroke is almost effortless. Smooth tyranny and the engine just purrs. Tfltruck tests shows the dodge Cummins is no contest.

Those GMC HD trucks are some of my favorites, the Denali Ultimate what nice truck!

I work for a foundation company,we started with first for payload,after issues switched to GMC Duramax 3500 have 30 of them run them to 3000,000, have 5 23 and 24 3509 Denali pickups,single wheel,nicest trucks going!!!

I'd like you to get a Tundra. I'd love to hear how it holds up for you and your thoughts after a year or two with it.

Love my 2020 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD High Country Diesel. Same as the Denali. The twin turbo diesel with the 10 speed transmission is awesome.

You need a ‘18-‘19 6.7 diesel deleted. Zero issues. Brakes, oil and fuel and tires only at 150k miles.

Besides the failed power steering pump sounds like the 6.2 250 gets the job done. Every gas truck gets 10mpg towing. Besides the delayed shift whats the problem?

Definitely get the gmc I’m from Wisconsin my boss has 5 gmc’s for plowing snow and for landscaping awesome trucks the new gas 6.6L are not the best they suck gas and burn oil. all the trucks are 2020 and up they are very comfortable and don’t have really any problems and they get worked hard. The regular gmc’s not the Denali ride basically the same and you don’t have to deal with the sensors going crazy with the plow on like with the Denali’s have the seat will vibrate for a little bit telling you there’s something in front of your truck but either one is great. Good luck!

I’ve got a 2011 Chevy 2500HD Diesel/Allison LTZ 160k miles. Had DEF issues starting at 35k. Changed out # 6 or 7 DEF pump, last one just 3 months ago. Had the Tx module go out at about 60k, temp and speed sensor chafing, and first point go out at 100k. That’s just about it. (Discounting tires/batteries/brakes). Oh, thermostat at 155k. BTW, I haul 20k lbs about 15k miles a year. With the latest issues (thermostat/DEF tank) it was hard finding a non-dealer mechanic. They are tired with diesels and the confined working spaces. Also, everything is more expensive with a diesel, but you can haul.

Dont know what id do without my GMC. Stellar truck.

The sync system sucks! I have the same problem in my 22’ raptor multiple times a week along with several other annoying issues! I feel your pain brother

I have two pickups, a 2022 1500 and a 2015 3500. The 1500 is a daily driver while the 3500 does the towing. Both are diesels (ECODiesel and a Cummins), both are RAMs, and both have been trouble free.

Same boat as you have ford, dodge and chevy for work trucks pull everything telehanders so on. Hands Down love my chevy 3500's I have 3 of them and wouldn't change them out with anything. My oldest one is running on more than 300K and still has just as much power as when i got it. The funny thing is I've always been a ford guy until i started pulling big trailers.

Own over 20 ford f250 2012-2016 and they are the best we’ve run. We’ve had them all. mostly XL models but a few XLT’s

I plow with a 3500 megacab cummins. Never been stuck or had any issues plowing...

With a concrete business we run a 2020 and 2022 powerstroke. Zero problems so far. We are hauling dump trailers, equipment haulers and a big camper. Honestly I think you just got a lemon. Of coarse we are still running a 2003 super duty/ 2007 Duramax with very few problems( they outlast all of my 6.0s, two 2011 6.7s and 2018 Duramax). As far as modern trucks go I believe the super duty is your best choice at least for now....

i have a 2020 GMC 3500 SLE diesel and i love the truck. for a work truck i would stay away from Denali trim package because that comes with all the cameras and parking sensors and for a work truck you dont need all them. a SLE you can just option it up with the stuff you want.

Came off a 05 2500 duramax deleted… awesome truck 20 mpgs, worked hard… 310,000 started to have to fix alot of stuff on it…. Traded for 21 250 tremor new …7.3 10 speed 4:30 gears…. Like it alot… not a diesel but has enough power i dont miss diesel fuel and maintenance costs. 65k so far so good

Recently went to my mechanics shop. I’m looking for a new truck and asked him what he’d recommend. He said “not one of those” all 4 bays had a duramax sitting in them

Lets see a follow up comparison video of the ford to which ever your favorite truck is. With specs, eng size, trans size, axle gearing, limited slip or electronic lock, etc. I would of loved to had the 2022 f250 fx4, lariat, agate metallic black with blk out pkg, 7.3l v8 , 3.73 gear electronic lock, snow plow & 5th wheel prep,, with a few mods of course. but it be interesting to see the differences in your xlt vs favorite ride.
