My NewAir & Stone Brewing Beer Froster PLUS Figuring out How to Make an Arrogant Bastard Beer Clone

I got a new fridge! I know what you might be thinking, how many fridges is too many fridges? Well the answer is 4 so I donated my previous yeast fridge to my beer bestie to make room for my new NewAir and Stone Brewing Beer Froster (SBF125AB00)! You can get 10% off this bad boy at New Air:bit.ly/3eVtKP2 with the code FLORA10.
When I was prepping this video I realized it is nearly impossible to find Arrogant Bastard around me so I’m planning on making a clone of it! You can find the recipe I’ll be using here: bit.ly/3eWqAdR (Scroll down to the bottom to see my friend Tyler host of the Brew'd Up podcast doing her thang). And check back next week to see my attempt at brewing it!

Are used to love the Oaked Double Bastard, when I could find it. 😂

I would like to see you mash a grist bill that would slowly add barley throughout the temp range. Start at 146 degrees and finally end up at 160+ while adding grain steadily and linearly throughout. Maybe add the hops the same way during the boil. Could be interesting.

Arrogant Bastard, one of my favorites! I used to drink that and Double Bastard all the time! Hated by many, loved by few; sounds like my life story, lol!

I love Arrogant Bastard so so much! And lucky it was till the sale of Stone, always available here in Germany in one of the bigger Supermarket chains in my area. But not anymore. So thanks a lot for the recipe, I need a bastard in my Kegerator!

C120 and special B, when used together, definitely can give the beer some assertive bitterness! I dig the deep caramel and raisin flavor though. Best of luck on the clone!

I found a place in Oregon at exit 21 on I5 at the chevron next to the Talant truck stop. I didn't think it was a hoppy beer but good American Brown

Weird, we get it here in Seattle fairly regularly. There’s a glitch in the matrix

How did you learn about water chemistry and how much water is necessary, how much water salts need to be added ?

We don’t produce as much Arrogant Bastard as we used to in years past.

You say you get weird flavors when dry hopping… do you dump the yeast cake prior to dry hopping or not? I always dump the yeast cake and found it to give a cleaner flavor profile.

I'm in San Diego and I can confirm the shelf space for Arrogantly Bastard has shrunk. There's only one store I can reliably find it now and they only have the 20 oz cans.

Stone was bought out by Sapporo for 165 mil in Sep. not sure if that impacted beer production but they are no longer a San Diego based company. RIP
