I just love your videos!!! It amazes me on how smart you are and I love learning from you! If you are ever in the States, I would love to meet you and show you what I have done with my hoyas in the past 6 months into my obsession! (maybe less than that) I already have over 80 species and a lot of my purchases come from me seeing your plants and falling in love with them, then of course I have to order one..then two...well you already know!!!

In the video he showed such an unusual ( in my opinion) Hoya with almost black triangular leaves -H. menipurenses. ( 19:49) Do you have one and what color are the flowers? Oh the video is “Hoyas At Chatuchak in Bangkok“ Lastly see the H. Imperialis huge flowers-the burgundy variegated one’s gorgeous ( 19:09) ok just sharing , for you to look at when you have nothing to do 🤣🌿

Oh dear! This is getting difficult. I swore never another Hoya. Hah! Well, what to my eye appeared as a pubicalyx at a store, was labelled a carnosa. It is a silver splash - one leaf is nearly pure silver, but some of the newer leaves have a pink splash. Well, wasn't I hooked? Line and sinker were not needed. I would love to be able to send you a pic and see what you think. You, Miro, are my mentor here in this universe of Hoya. Serbia is a little bit distant from this garden (West Coast, Canada) to drop by for tea (and/or Sherry) and a review. However, I do understand keeping privacy. Is there a way out of this (or into this)?😵‍💫🤗💐

I grew my globulosa in medium light before I cut it down and it grew well :) Svetlana is still new for me but I will try it in medium light as well :) I would not say any of my hoyas in the tent are in super high light, but I guess it depends what you mean by very high light 😅 It is enough for some of them to sunstress, but not all.

Great again. But you now have added more to my wish list. It is Spring here and I will have to wait a few more weeks to have anything shipped in. I would like to try a globulosa. Have a great day.

The poonsak grow fast and loove high light mine for a 2 leaf cutting i paid 70 few month ago and she gave me 4 look string that have to take her out from my cabinet and she is thriving ❤❤❤

9:13 Hoya 'Mathilde' (splash) is not stable, thus it is the regular 'Mathilde'. The same goes for krohniana 'Eskimo', by the way. These two especially just splash under certain light conditions, preferrably artificial light.

Oh now the truth comes out and we learn what gets you excited. 😉 on a less racy note I have like 5 of the Hoya you repotted today and the two that make me question if I got catfished are the hellwigiana and joy. My joy has really thin leaves and me hellwigiana doesn’t look like any of the nicholsonia.

Well, my 'Joy' is not the best specimen perhaps at the moment. But all the photos of hellwigiana I saw do resemble nicholsoniae (I actually think mine doesn't so much).

Miro! I enjoy seeing how you first put them into pon, I actually have the same cups, and have considered making holes and wicking them. What sort of material do you use for wicking and do you have any issues with rot? I'm interested seeing how you don't clean the roots off before putting in pon, they seemed to have significantly more substrate still on them than I typically leave, do you have any rot issues later from doing this? I'm definitely keen to mess with the roots less if I can help it so very interested in your answer here :) Also I had a stunning mathilde splash cutting just like yours and I decided to split it and grow two and I so wish I hadn't cut it because most of the splash has now disappeared. Le sigh Thanks!

We are gonna love globulosa as soon as we figure out how to display it. Mine is beautiful but such a weird growth habit to try to show off in a home. ❤

Lovely cuttings. I am envious of your Globulosas. I think the leaf is really nice looking, but cuttings here are a bit pricy. Plus I don't have room anyway 😥 Meanwhile, I don't get the spreading obsession with Lacunosa 👀 Neither the leaves nor the flowers are spectacular. And to me the scent smells like pee. Just one of these flowers rendered my entire hallway smelling like a public bathroom. It was terrible 😁

Oh really? My regular one I was selling for $5-10 xD Cao Bang is more prices, but not over $30 I think, for a nice cutting. Oh I love the smell of lacunosas! They do not smell like pee to me :D The 'Sunrise' does though. But even that turns pleasant after the first night.

Hi Miro I really need some advice! My hoyas in semi hydro keep rotting! I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong. Should I let them dry out? I typically keep a reservoir. Should keep water level lower? I don’t understand, pon/leca looks so fuss free online but it’s giving me so many issues

What is your pH, ppm and ambient + water temperature? Too low (or too high) pH can cause issues - very acidic solutions will rot the roots. You’d want to aim around 6. With ppm, I go for 350-400 for hoyas. I wouldn’t keep hoyas in semihydro in a too cold of a room (maybe 19-20 degrees). In semihydro, there should always be a reservoir.

@@BasiePlants I use test strips, it’s almost always 6. Ambient temperatures vary a lot because of how old the building is. During the day 70-75, and night definitely in the 60s. I always prepare my water in advance so water will be room temp. I don’t have a ppm meter I didn’t think it was too important, but I will definitely get one and use distilled water if I have to.

I have Hoya sp. Tanggamus. Tanggamus is just a location, there are many hoyas that are from there. But I have the one with big veiny leaves :)

OK, hear me out: let's assume that you live in a country where you may or may not find hoyas in the wild..... how on earth can one identify a hoya?!?! There are so many species and all so different with each other...! Could you make a video about that? I've been googling to no avail... (...and no, starting to cut each and every plant to see if it produces sap is not an option). Side note: love your channel - newbie hoya collector here

Usually by the flower :) But also, they have a distinct look to them - opposite leaves, and the more you grow, the easier it becomes to know what is a hoya and what is, for example, Stephanotis floribunda. Many plants make sap, so that is not necessarily a way to do it :) But it is also enough to scratch the stem to get the sap :)
