Well, hello there! Glad you stumbled upon this channel. I make videos about houseplants and houseplant care and other plant-related stuff. There will be lots of Hoyas here, so you better buckle up! I promise there will be other plants too. #houseplants #hoyamygosh

Hi Nero, an advice pls, when you put the hoya lockii cutting in coco peat and perlite in prop box, you lift the cover a bit or totally closed and you will open the lid after some days? This is my second time of ordering hoya lockii and the leaves are dried after traveling. Please help me thankyou
hey, I have a question: how to stimulate the hoya seedling to grow? a year ago I accidentally tore off one large leaf from my hoya. I put it in water and it took root. then I planted it in the ground. One year nothing happens. The leaf has taken root nicely, but no shoot is growing from it. Do you know if there is a chance that something like this will grow into something? And the second question is, have you used cytokine paste on hoyas and how does it work? Thanks. great channel and you are a great guy<3
I would like a terrarium update, please dont chicken out
Okaaaay I got the hint! I will send them next week 🙈
Im listening intently and have learned so much from you. When talking about your plants here, what determines for you which Hoyas go into self-watering pots and which go into an organic mix? How do you know which would work better for the specific Hoya?
I put most of my Hoyas in organic mix :) As for the self-watering - I would put thinner leaved species first into self-watering and then the rest. It will also depend on the size of SW pots awailable to me and the size of the plant/ cutting - for example, despite that one amrita being a thin leaved hoya, I simply don't have such small SW pots, so she will remain in the cup for some time :)
1:36 “…my Hoya castle” 😂😂😂😂
Love your chore videos as I do some along with you. And it must be the day for dropping and knocking! I have dropped and knocked so much today I have decided to leave everything out and put away tomorrow 😂❤🌸
Let's face it, every day is a dropping and knocking things off day for me 😂
Oh that microphylla is soooo cute!
How often do you recommend repotting your hoyas? I have some that I have had for a long time, in organic mix, that I have not repotted ... and I am starting to think I should probably do that lol.
I find your thinking out loud processing very helpful...and watching you make a mix. Love those healthy roots!
I love how you gave a fancy name to my rambling 😂 I love the healthy roots too <3
Hey, hey!😅
Hey! :D
Thank you for the video. Terrarium video sounds interesting.
Honestly, those plants have much better foliage than most hoyas. Ooops.
What is that copper wire you have for the trellises? What is the diameter?
I am not sure what it would be in inches, but it is a 3mm wire. :) It is not copper, it is aluminum wire that is colored so it looks like copper. Actual copper one would be too expensive :D I think they call this a craft wire in the US.
I am onboard for terrarium plants Miro! However, your plant chores vids are some of my favorites that I watch as I work along.
I am glad you like them <3 I am sure there will be plant chores for the terrarium planties. :D
I am new to Hoyas and would love to see you water your hoyas, and what gauge is that copper wire and could you leave a link for it? And what is that "little thingy" tube you put down in the pot? Us newbies would love to know all that!
The wire I got is a 3mm. :) I am not sure what that exactly is in inches :D (it is also copper, but aluminum made to look like copper as atual copper would be too pricey - I think this is called craft wire in the US) A watering video might be interesting! :) I haven't done it in a while... or ever :D (I mean the video, I actually DO water, despite what I say xD) The tube I used something that came with the self-watering pots - it is a water level indicator :)
@@BasiePlants Thank you! Yes any and all tips would be helpful. As in, how to water using the self-waterers, how much water to put in. Also, how and when you fertilize. Love your channel and I look every day for a new one!
Im down for an introduction to your terrarium plants Even though I am mainly here because of the Hoya content…. Your other vids are equally fun to watch 🌱🌸
Oh, no worries, I will make it my goal to hook everyone to other plants than Hoya. :D
I lose tags all the time however I don’t remember which Hoya it was! 🥺 This week is in the history books…some of my coworkers have been kinda dramatic but I’m trying to ignore it. I was watering and wiping leaves checking for pests. I go in sections at my house, I have quite a bit of plants. Love your personality… you always make me laugh. I can relate…current me making plant problems for future me.
Thankfully, magically, I somehow remember 😂
I didn't like this week either, and next week isn't looking any better. Long live upskill training...yeah, yay not yay. LOL Anyhoo, it's a long weekend here at least. I'm also enjoying my hoya Patricia telling the other 17 hoyas to hold her fertilizer while she gives a masterclass on how to grow. 4 new leaves and at least another 6 growth points. Oh, and I've had her just over a month! Happy Canada Day tomorrow. 🇨🇦 ❤
I am sorry your week hasn't been the best! I do hope the next one has some surprises - GOOD ONES! :D Oh, Patricia is such a good Hoya! I really miss mine (it has been DESTROYED by mites). I really should get a new one. Such an easy grower and a fantastic bloomer! Happy Canada day to you!
Happy Canada Day! 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
I’ve decided to not Pon my Hoyas but use Leca instead. Leca doesn’t hold moisture as well as Pon and Hoyas like to dry out a tad between waterings and this will be easier in LECA. I’m also going to keep one in soil to compare. Tfs
I hope it works out for you and your conditions :) Best way to learn is to do these experiments yourself and see what works there and what not :D
Perfect timing. I have plant chores lined up for today and need a buddy.
Oh, excellent then! I will gladly be your plant chores buddy :D
Druga sam.... Mir😍
First comment and first like 🙌🏽
Hi Miro! Not sure if you have this locally, but try looking for window screening for the mesh.
I am not sure if that would hold up the plants? We have plastic mesh, the type that you'd use for a mosquito net. :)
I just re-trellised my Hoya elliptica as its original trellis was undersized and rotted (bamboo). What a chore. And, yes, it doesn't look very natural right now. I'm hoping it will sort itself out over time.
Ah, it happens all the time xD It needs to be done, but with some plants I swear they look worse after. But in most cases they fix themselves and it looks as good if not better than before! :)
Mine is suffering... So what does that mean🎉😂😅
Oh no :( It was quite an easy plant for me, but sadly outgrew my space by a lot! I found it quite reselient once it gets a bit larger. My humidity is typically always above 60% and temperature above 20C. I also gave it light from my north-west window + some residual light from the grow light that was above it (but that was at least 1.5m above it, and more for my hanging plants rather than this floor plant). I also watered it 1x every week and a half to two weeks since the pot was quite big. In a smaller pot I would water weekly. :)
These ones give me stranger things vive😮
I struggle with it too, thank you for your tips.
Very good video and I enjoyed the humor between friends. :-)
Thank you for sharing what you found out about these two mystery hoyas . I really love a good story . Everyone has a different eye for beauty and I am sure there are many collectors who have these big girls
I've had a carnosa and pubicalyx for probably just over 5 years and they are so easy to care for that I recently started picking up a few more. I bought a wayetii and sigilatis a few weeks ago and picked up a crassiopetulata cutting today from someone that posted them for $10 on Facebook marketplace. She showed me her huge collection of plants and told me she had some other cuttings and she wanted to give me one and it was a Hoya AH074. I knew nothing about the plant and have limited space, but I thought that her giving me a free cutting in addition to the one I was buying was such a nice gesture that I took her up on the offer. I didn't realize it was an expensive plant. 😯
Oh my, now I think the plant I bought as Priktai is an Elephant. Of course I also had to get an Elephant later, since I didn't know I already had one. And I do have the 'Russian'😅 Priktai, which sure looks like your Priktai. And my Priktai 'white' -well I only bought that because I wanted the non-Russian variety. 😂 I'm ok with 2 of each, for now. My first Elephant (fka Priktai) is getting nice splash so maybe it needs a new name? 😂. I better save up in case a Silver Elephant ever shows up.😮
I came from Fern's channel, you're hilarious 😂 and I love begonias!
Welcome <3 So that means I must get new begonias of course.
Miro, we can propagate begonia broken leaves 😆
Spot on!!! For the hoya species + author name, another one is vitellina blume, multiflora blume and so on 😆
Just bought my first H. calistophilla. In love with this plant. In Los Angeles (desert portion) and planted outside in hanging plastic pot. I placed it an area with a lot of hanging plants, morning sun and afternoon shade. We will see….thank you.
Hi, Miro, I grow both of these outside in central FL in the US. I have found them both to be different and rewarding to grow, as you describe. I almost lost both of them when I left them outside (along with most of my extensive collection…too large to bring inside) over our ‘winter’, which consisted of temperatures persistently in the 40s at night. I was able to root some cuttings and now they are back outside with lots of heat and humidity and are both growing like weeds in coco chips and #3 perlite. I would say that is the key, along with consistent watering and not letting them dry out. My leaves on ‘Elephant’ do not grow malformed, and when properly trellised, grow to massive size-I am thinking warmth/humidity is the largest contributor to this. I hope this helps 🙂
Just wanted to say I love your videos, Miro! Every single video I've watched so far has gotten me to burst out laughing. Thank you for being the much needed and much appreciated ray of sunshine and sarcasm in my otherwise ordinary day.
While watching, I went on Etsy to check out Hoya Priktai and a seller is selling a Hoya Elephant Priktai for $175. Her Hoya looks only like the Priktai. All Hoya Elephant I've come across look like the one you displayed. Unless the seller's is a cross breed between the two its definitely a Priktai. I really see no similarity as far as the leaves go tho. Thanks for the education on the two. Facts are important. Dee, NY
I didnt know the warm thing about Undulata. I kept mine by an open window in a Los Angeles winter and it was fine. Granted, the temp didnt get below 45º. Mine has bloomed for me but it's a very slow grower.
I love watching your videos! I am relatively new to Hoyas (2yrs) & you are a great teacher! ❤
Thank you for always sharing all the wonderful hoya info you find and most of all, thank you for all the laughs, you really are the best! ❤
Is there any website where I can see the "official" cultivars, the registered ones? It would be great a video about botanical nomenclature, what are the accession numbers and what is their origin ...🙃
Love the videos. Another hoya to add to my wish list! Keep them coming!
Ok Elephant is now on the list though a quick google tells me she is going to be a little hard to find for me....thats probably a good thing numbers wise😂 and perhaps also due to ease of care or not it seems.
Ma-Now is lime in Thai word. Prik-tai is pepper in Thai word, named to Ice's daughter (if I weren't wrong).
Thank you, Pattamate <3 Always so helpful!
@@BasiePlants The Elephant could be the same as AH 027.
@@pattamatew. @pattamatew. I haven't reached out to Natta yet to check on that & how they got it. To me it seems visually that it could be the same. But I believe it is possible there were multiple seedlings too that look similar.
Send the bob cee to me
Can’t choose between the two so I will just put both on my wishlist….they are both beautiful!
You mentioned you have treated the primatial for mites. Can you tell me what exactly you treat it with. Thank you!
Don't let your plants drink coffee!
