I got the same riedell diamond skates and I tried them for the first time! It wasn’t to bad but it was a lil uncomfortable. When I used to have my old skates they used to bend and crease on the inside edge. I’m only doing half waltz jumps right now. When I used to do my three turns and backward crossover it was creasing and I was actually not able to do some skills because of my old skates. But the riedells are awesome and I recommend them!❤️ this vid❣️

QUEEN FAN Yeah they are a little uncomfortable at first, but I remember when I was a kid whatever Riedell’s I had (I don’t remember the style) were terribly uncomfortable at first. My feet and ankles felt like they were bleeding, once I broke them in they were ok. But the diamonds aren’t like that thankfully 😅 lol Thank you for watching 💕

I think you chose a good set of skates for learning all of your beginner stuff! I started to do basic jumps (toe loop, waltz and salcow) in skates like your first pair and BiG MISTAKE lol. I destroyed the ankle support and tongue within 2 months and rolled my ankles so many times. Its good to hear the reidell seem to be comfortable for you. I currently have jacksons and after 3 pairs (and a lot of quality issues) I'm thinking of getting reidell for mt next pair too!

Alexa C there was no way I was going to start doing any jumps in my first pair! They were awful so I’m impressed you were able to! But definitely not a safe move! Lol i looked into the Jackson’s because a lot of people really like them but decided to stay with Riedell being they were the skates I always used. My only complaint is that the tongue is really stiff so I use bunga pads to save my legs, but I know they’ll eventually break in.

Figure Skating With Alicia I found getting really deep knee bends into my backwards crossovers really helped break the tongues in! That and I would do squats in my skates off ice to try to make them flexible!. Good luck breaking them it, hopefully it goes quickly.

Alexa C thanks for the tips! I’ll definitely be trying them out! When I was on the ice Thursday I was skating around with a lady I met and she was helping me get a better knee bend with my backwards crossovers so I’ll definitely be more aware of it now

hi alicia i have a question on the size you got. Did you get the diamonds the same size as your street shoe size? Also I really enjoyed your video. Thank you:)

Thank you for watching! I got a half size smaller then my street shoe size. I’m normally a size 6 but I got a 5 1/2

Just FYI to anyone watching this, these are considered Recreational Skates by the manufacturer, Reidell. I'm surprised that the pro shop put them in the oven because they are not actually heat moldable! Also, they are only for basic skating skills and not rated for jumps beyond learning waltz, toe loop, and salchow. But, honestly, I wouldn't want my skaters using these for any jumps.I'm with the other people that gave you feedback - the Motion will take you further. I would be surprised if you are actually still skating in these almost a year later - they could really hold you back from progressing beyond Learn to Skate Basic Skills.

Thank you Aimée, yes the diamonds are still recreational skates but as you said they are for learning up to the waltz, toe loop and Salchow, which I’m still currently learning my waltz and just starting to learn the Salchow. A year ago I didn’t even think I’d be this far since I could barely do backward crossovers lol I plan on keeping these until I at least get my Salchow down then hopefully by then I’ll save up enough to get new boots. I did upgrade to coronation ace blades which made a huge difference (at least on how I felt). And with the heat molding that was the first time ever that I’ve seen it done, just last week I mentioned it to another employee at the pro shop they told me they had never done it for figure skates.. but on the other hand the diamonds aren’t the same material on the inside as the emeralds and below so I don’t know if that’s why he did it. Overall they were fine, and felt a lot better but that doesn’t mean it was correct.

@@FigureSkatingWithAlicia coronation ace is great developmental blade! Figure skates can be heat molded! But the Diamonds are not heat moldable, unfortunately.

@ So far my blades have done me well lol I was nervous I wouldn’t like them but they’re helped me out a lot. I just looked up heat molding figure skates and on Riedells website they have a “heat molding figure skates” page. They actually say it’s ok to do it to the recreational skates but only leave them in the oven for about 4 minutes at 180 degrees Fahrenheit. This post it from 2014 so it might be outdated. ice.riedellskates.com/2014/heat-molding-figure-skate-boots

@@FigureSkatingWithAlicia as far as I know, Diamonds are not heat moldable. But shops do it anyway...I don’t know why :(
