Seen them live multiple times. Had a chance to have a beer with him back before he got cleaned up. Super cool guy, the lyrics are so deep it's crazy

Hey welcome to BLUE OCTOBER. The band started in houston tx in 1995. The lead singer here Justin has struggled with metal illnes like bipolar and depression since he was young. He got deep into drugs at a point. His band, girlfriend and family held an intervention for him and he accepted help. This song FEAR is the first he wrote when he got sober and he was so glad he could still write and he didnt know this side of him exhisted til then. The song HATE ME is the one song most remeber from this group. They have 10 albums and he travels solo to share his testimony. Those are call OPEN BOOK BY JUSTIN FURSTENFELD. There are quite a few of those on youtube also and very interesting and uplifting as well as funny and full of love. Hes 9.5 years clean now. I gey to finally go see them this month for the 1st time. Blue October reaches into you and pulls your guts and heart out with his lyrics , vocals and his volcano of emotions... the most overlooked greats of living artists... and you my friend are a great presenter, you seem to know the intricacies of music and performance... God Bless

Justin's vocal are so gritty, so emotional. He sings what he feels and the story behind his life is amazing. He's lived through so much. I can't wait to watch Get Back Up!

If you haven't heard about it or seen it yet, there's a really, really good documentary called Get Back Up that's about Justin's journey with Blue October and his sobriety. It's truly amazing. Also, like some other comments, you should check out their live performances and acoustic sets because they're just as great.

I've seen Blue October 10+ times from 2009 onwards, here in the UK, and I still love the feeling I get hearing him sing live. His voice touches my soul.

This is the stuff man.. Go down the rabbit hole on Blue October. they are amazing.

You need to hear his acoustic version... the passion is unbelievable. This is the first reaction video of yours that I have seen (but I'm obsessed with Blue October, so it was recommended). Ue October has a lot of different sounds and each album is totally a different sound than the others. This reaction made me subscribe, looking forward to binging your videos.

Literally anything from them is amazing. Welcome to the underrated Blue October. Definitely listen to their older stuff first and work your way up to the newer stuff if you can. They've had so much to say and taken us all on a journey of disfunction, addiction, depression and then healing and happiness.

As someone who battled illness as a young teenager and was told I wouldn't live to see 16 this song had always hit me hard. The line about being up here, looking down at the I don't care. I always think of the illness and the nights where I wanted to give in. Tired of fighting, tired of pain, if I let it win I won't hurt anymore. Then you realize it doesn't care if you fight or not unless you fight and win. Then you fave the beast and give it one more go. Welcome to blue october man. Hate me, any man in America, worry list, goes on and on you won't be disappointed

"I'm staring at the 'I don't care,' and it's staring back at me," really hits different and says (if it wasn't already obvious!) that this guy knows what he's talking about. Apathy is the part of depression that a lot of people don't think about, but that malaise--that feeling of 'I'm not happy or sad or angry, I'm just nothing and I don't want to do anything to help myself because I don't care' can be harder to fight than sadness. Sadness has an outlet, but apathy just sits in your chest like a pile of rocks and it's awful and immovable and obstinate, so the idea of it staring back at you in, like, defiance, really just fits so well.
