My new favorite! Godsmack "Serenity" vocal ANALYSIS absolutely levels me up!

Ойындар

"Voodoo" by Godsmack made it into one of my favorite songs on this channel when I heard it the first time a couple months ago... and I've been yearning for more. Based on your recommendations of a similar sound, y'all weren't wrong. "Serenity" - not the ship in Firefly - is now ahead of "Voodoo". How is that possible?!?!
Join professional opera singer Elizabeth Zharoff, as she listens to Godsmack performing "Serenity" for the first time.

I'm so glad this is the top comment ;) Upvote, keep on rocking! Also... wouldn't it be cool if a fan cut and spliced this song with appropriate video from the show to make a fan made video? I'm not the one... to do it, not my skillset... but I'd love to see it done.

I love this song and a fact I feel like anyone who loves it should know that : This song was inspired by Rush drummer Neil Peart's book Ghost Rider: Travels on the Healing Road. Godsmack lead singer Sully Erna used to be a drummer and is a huge fan of Peart. The book is about a road trip Peart took across the US on his motorcycle, which helped him deal with the tragic death of both his daughter and wife. When I found that out it really hit me in the heart strings.

This song was written after Godsmack's lead singer Sully Erna read a book called "Ghost Rider". The book was written by the drummer of the band "Rush", Neil Peart. The book is about Neil Peart's experiences of taking a road trip across America on a motorcycle to cope with the loss of his wife and daughter. Sully used this book as inspiration for the lyrics. Also, Godsmack is awesome and an excellent live band too.

Dear Elizabeth - you’ve already reviewed some top Canadian acts such as Rush, Gordon Lightfoot and Neil Young. How about some more Canadian Gold? Suggestions: Chilliwack - Fly at Night - just a beautiful, beautiful song. Triumph - Magic Power - high energy, fun song, similar lyrical theme as Spirit of Radio. April Wine - Oowatanite - high energy love song by a very young April Wine, don't be "alarmed" by the opening. The Guess Who - These Eyes - pretty ballad, charted in the US. Ian Thomas - 2 songs; 1. Coming Home - song about the joy of returning home after a long tour, Ian singing in his higher ranges. 2. Long, Long Way, mostly fun song with lots of "phase" changes. Max Webster - 3 songs. 1. A Million Vacations - fun song with lots of interesting sounds, bit of an ear bug. 2. Diamonds, Diamonds - pretty song, also interesting sounds. 3. Battle Scar - collaboration with Rush - the grittiest, grungiest, dirtiest-sounding rock song that you can imagine. All of them worth a listen, maybe even a deep dive? Only 9 songs, not too much to ask, yes? In all seriousness, thank you for being you - really enjoy your content, your spirit and your deep technical knowledge.

Loved your reactions, as usual, and thank you so much for showing one my favorite bands some love once again 😄 It's still interesting to think that Sully (to my knowledge) is not a trained singer, he tought himself. From a technique standpoint, you can sometimes tell he's a bit rough around the edges, but he's still an amazing singer and his lyrics are pretty deep in certain songs. Also, on recordings, he usually does the backing vocals, live, it's usually the bands' solo guitarist, Tony Rombola who does the backing vocals.
