    Think about it this way. His voice emulates his instrument. It's so common for musicians voices to take on qualities of their instrument. His quick runs and dissonant changes are exactly what you find in the harmonica. It just makes sense. He's the most underrated and unique artist in music.

    I remember John Popper was brought out for the national anthem in the World Series and absolutely blew it away with that harp. There are levels to this and I've never heard his surpassed!

    When you re-listen to 'Hook' and read the lyrics, I'd recommend watching their official music video. It's very creative and spot-on!

    I think I remember Popper referring to his lyrical style as "cramming", as in "how many more syllables can I cram in per line?". He actually pokes fun at himself about that tendency a few times in some of their songs :)

    Yes, the song is about a girl John Popper knew. Chan Kinchla (the guitarist) once mentioned the song's an unrequited love song about John and our original bass player Felicia back in H.S. who he kind of had a crush on.

    20 years ago I witnessed John Popper improv/jam harmonica with a rap group on 6th St. in Austin, TX. That man is a genius. Not to mention the Canadian girl he met in my home state.
