The year is 2021 and it’s time for a much requested updated tool bag tour. These things can take a long time so I will do my best to edit it down to a decent length. This also means I won’t be reviewing all the tools in depth, however I am happy to field any questions in the comments. I always get a lot of questions on these bags. This is a beehive vinyl toolbar and was made in March 2012. Essentially its put in 9 years of service. In this time it’s developed a couple holes in the front pockets, not big enough to get a tool through but they are heading that way.
Tool bag List 2021 will update further, shop around do not just use amazon and support your local brick and mortar hardware store if possible.

    Hey mate I am a Glazier apprentice, used to use a field and portal medium bag got it when I did handyman work at the local hospital and it served me well. Just upgraded to the zippable version of your beehive bag and very impressed with it. Good to support local manufacturing as well.

    Hey Finn, when it comes to the toolbag tour videos the longer the better, I’ve been looking forward to this since your last one. Came across your channel ages ago when I was looking at ryobi bench sander reviews and subscribed. Love your style and love the fault finding in the shed videos, got a sticker off you recently so cheers from a fellow sparky and former FIFO worker.

    Hey mate, big fan of your vids. Been watching all the electrical tool related ones and they have been a huge help with what to buy. I couldn't find any video of you talking about how you got into the industry and maybe some advice for people looking to enter the industrial / heavy industrial field? I'm a TA for a domestic mob at the moment, trying to make my way towards an apprenticeship as an industrial sparky and would be very interested to hear about your experience.

    Love the Milwaukee tape, picked up a two pack of the non magnetic ones for the same price as a single fatmax. Just make sure you don’t over extended them, I found that the tape pulls off the reel and out of the body pretty easily..

    Wondering about the blue/red grips being 1000v rated, if not, why don't you have the 1000v rated for all gear used? I'm about to buy all news tools for the industrial side of things and will look at your set up for motivation.

    Simply put I never work live. For one it’s pretty much illegal in my area, Screwdrivers are pretty much the only thing that goes near live stuff when I am testing or want to push in a contact. I carry insulated needle nose pliers that will help put a core back in to a loose terminal if I am being sneaky but realistically working live just isn’t a thing. In some ways the 1000v rating is a bit of a outdated marketing tool, If you were to have a 1000v rated kit and you wanted it to stay that way it would be a seperate kit you kept pristine and only got out when your doing the job. Greasy handles and stuff loose that rating pretty fast. Nothing against having them, but I’m not all about making my bag yellow either. If I can save a few bucks and still get good quality use I will.

    Zips are the key, can fly with it. Keep people out a bit more, you can keep dust/crud out of certain pockets more. Also If you looking for a bag check out Topdog tool bags, they are new to the market finn5 will get you 5% off 😏

    Damn, that Knippex, Wera and Wiha stuff is expensive even here in Germany. Can't imagine the price including the import tax, redistribution, ... I guess quality tools pay for themselves after some time! Cheers, Jan P.S. what's the total weight of that bag?

  • @Finntheweekendwarrior

    @Finntheweekendwarrior

    3 жыл бұрын

    Total weight normally sits around 15kg I collected the gear over a long time. As an apprentice I purchased the cheapest tools and then once I was qualified started replacing them as needed with better stuff.

    Looking at buying a beehive bag, would you recommend the double layer base or the plastic moulded base?

  • @Finntheweekendwarrior

    @Finntheweekendwarrior

    3 жыл бұрын

    I have a double layer that has lasted me a Long time no problem, however I would want the HDPE base if it’s affordable. They moved the side pockets up higher on them and they are the only part of my bag showing wear and tear. I also think my bag is going to last me 10 years so buy once cry once, I can’t speak that they all will but I got the entry model at the time.

    Hey mate, a fan of your vids. I've had my beehive bag since 2011, same model as yours, tried the veto XL but found it wasn't long enough to store long items, and went back to the beehive, thinking of the upgrading to the m.s.muir ultim8. have you seen these in the flesh? if so what are your thoughts? Cheers

    they are the ducks nuts. They can be prone to sagging into a floppy mess, but they have a slip you can place a "ridigdizer" that sorts them right out. The difference is amazing. Since Muir custom makes them you can get your own colours too, thats always cool.
