A couple years ago I bought a brand new G26 gen 4, and it ran like a top. I live very close to the Glock facility in Georgia, so I took it in for a set of night sights. When the armorer brought it back out, he said he’d upgraded it to the latest recoil spring..which I thought was great. After that, the poor little gun would choke on anything but the hottest ammo. I returned to Glock and had them put my original grade spring back in. It has performed perfectly since then.

@@darylragland1502 I traded the Glock 19 (gen 4) for the Glock 26 (gen 5). The 19 stayed in the safe because it was too big for concealment. So I carried the Glock 42 (380) and also kept it bedside with two 9 round mags. I got the 26 for concealed carry and kept a Glock 19 mag (15 rounds) for home defense. You can also get extended mags with 30 rounds if you want. So the 26 eliminates the need for the 19 because of its versatility. I liked the Glock 19. But I love the Glock 26!

With all the newer this one and that one, I have stuck with the G26 gen5 and the G19 gen4. They have never let me down. I, wholeheartedly, agree that Glocks aren't perfect but they DO tend to work! Outstanding gun at a good price! Mags and parts are everywhere and can be found substantially less expensive than most. With either or both, I can confidently fight my way through to the other side. Just me!

I believe Glock offers an all steel sight just like the plastic ones it comes with. I have had a habit over the past several years of running about 100 rounds of Winchester NATO ammo through new 9mm guns to help seat the new parts and break in the recoil spring. NATO ammo is basically +P . Great choice of gun my friend and great video.

The only big problems I had with my Glock 26 gen 5 was with my after market Magpul 9mm magazines; 15rd, 12rd designs. The standard Glock mags did great 👍🏻. I added a few Glock safety orange base pads. Those come in factory royal blue or orange colors. Larry Vickers, Tango Down makes useful mag base pads too. Easy to carry-use.

The new shape of the firing pin plunger safety is what gives the G5 a slightly crisper trigger pull and I believe but don’t hold me to it that it is not recommended to disassemble the G5 trigger assembly. The other Gens it was easy to do. The Gen 5 26 does not like freedom munitions at least in my gun. No problem in my G4 G17 so I don’t know what the issue is.

Interesting part about the Blazer Brass loads, although I've heard and read some of the same sentiment over the last few years. I'm definitely a Glock fanboy, but I don't think any reputable combat handgun manufactured in this century should require a break-in period to be considered reliable. I've been fortunate, I guess. Shooting Glocks since 1993 and I've never run across an issue like that. Another great review.

Good T&E review. I own a Blue Label 2020 era Glock 26 gen 5 9mm. My version has Ameriglo night sights 🌃. It did not have factory slide lines or serrated front portion as the gen 5 series: 2021, 2022. Which, I personally like more. ✔️ The sub compact carrys, works well. I ccw, security post duty my 26 9mm with a black Safariland TS7-ALS holster. Left hand. I had a few minor changes, upgrades; LWD 🐺 extractor, Tango Down gen 5 slide stop, Vickers mag release(left hand format), Glock Store slide lock. I may of added a Double Diamond type 3.5lb trigger connector but I don't recall. Later I may drop in a new gold TiN type True Precision barrel. The factory barrel is ok but has scuffs, wear marks all over. I'm starting to use Glock Store type recoil guide rods too but may leave the gen 5 26 rod alone. For security uses, ccw-defense I use Federal +P HST, Winchester Defender 124gr +P or new Remington Golden Saber bonded +P JHP. I like 124gr over 147gr 9mm.

Fantastic gun IMO and with the ability to use all Glock or Glock style 9mm mags, it is hard to beat. My only issue is the absence of a pic rail. Glock needs to correct that shortfall with a slight frame mod. I just do not like those low lumen trigger options.

Glock semi-auto hand guns "not" feeding bullets constantly is not a glitch in the firearm. Instead it is the inconsistancy of the ammunition (grain weight, load pressures), and bullet configuration. Machanically, there is no "break-in" period before a firearm will cycle ammunition properly. That's an unfounded fallacy repeated far too often. Scientifcally, all semi- automatic firearms including rifles are designed, tested, and shipped from the manufacturer to cycle right out of the box without any specified number of rounds fired to establish a post manufactured "seating" of its compotents. That's all hogwash Scientifically, anomlies to cycle is most often the ammunition but also the magazine or those two combined components.

Yes and no. The guide rod spring can be off from the factory. It was probably over-sprung, so working the spring by shooting it will weaken the spring which will allow for more slide play. If you were to drop the spring weight by just 2lbs, it will spit out casings an extra 5ft. Lighter loads could cause this too, but he ruled that out by going back to the problematic ammo with no issues after shooting it a while with different ammo. So that pretty much proves the gun needed a break in. If Glocks never came out of spec, then no one would ever have problems with their new guns, which we all no is bs.

I wished they’d radius each side of the undercut. I always feel pressure on the right side of my index finger which my odg gen 3 26 does do. I did that to my odg gen 3 19. I don’t get that on my 17 tho. My fingers fit right into the finger grooves on all my gen 3s. Im in Ca so gen 3s are only available unless you acquire newer models through a private party sale, mostly from leo’s.

My new but freshly lubed Gen5 G26 would also NOT cycle Blazer Brass reliably after about 25 rnds of HST and 75 rnds Speer Lawman. I have to go back to the range and run a couple hundred more rounds of Speer Lawman and then try the Blazer Brass again. I think Glock likes to build pistols w/ longevity and a really stiff/heavy recoil spring is one way to do that. Otherwise the user can always get aftermarket recoil spring assemblies of a lighter weight but I'm going to try to avoid that. I prefer to shoot hot loads most of the time.

Excellent video he explains everything about the new clock 26th Gen 5 without the finger grips if you put the back strap on the gun before you put the pin in I would try all of them to see which one fits your hand the best so it's not really necessary to have the finger grips anymore but I say the finger grips were much better and the serrations on the front of the slide really doesn't do anything you really can't use it and they some people like them some people don't it just makes the gun looking little silly but a lot of government agencies are buying the same gun they claim it's one of the best but it's up to you if you find one in different colors green or tan I would suggest you buy it fast they really don't make them anymore the Gen 5 has taken over which I think it's a mistake 🇱🇻👎

I have an early Gen 5 Glock 26 that doesn’t have the front serrations. Not a big deal for me as I’m not doing a lot of press checks with small carry gun. I own many Glocks and thing the Gen 5’s have the best factory triggers. However, trigger preference is highly subjective.

  • @weduhpeople8504
    @weduhpeople85043 жыл бұрын

It could be short cycling possibly because of stronger spring rates of the newish captured recoil springs. It’s supposed to slow the recoil in throughout the springs compression to mitigate recoil on a subcompact.

I’m an ultimate Glock fanboy. I own 18 various models. With my Glock 42 and 43, within the first two magazines and right out of the box, I had the guns jam once. After clearing the issues, I never had another malfunction. Both guns I have now reached a few thousand rounds and zero issues. Another time, my Gen3 Glock 20 had a malfunction but that was when I placed an AFTERMARKET barrel in the gun. As with the others, no issues since and I’ve shot about 2,000 rounds through it as well. However with that Glock 20, I blame the aftermarket barrel. All my other glocks and I’ve never had any problems. None.

The G26 is still a very viable concealed carry firearm (I have a Gen 4). Yes, there are the new 43’s and 43X’s (I have 2 G43’s) that are more slim lined and you can get aftermarket 12 or 15 round mags for them but that’s where the capacity capability ends with them. As he stated, with the G26 you can use your 15 and 17 round mags from your G19 and G17 or even the 33 rounder. Also, given that 75-80% of law enforcement agencies use G17 and G19, chances are in a real bad SHTF situation and you happen to be close to a downed officer, you’ll be able to use their mags. But in the long run it boils down what you are comfortable with carrying. If someone buys a handgun and they aren’t comfortable with how it feels to them, they will more than likely not worry about carrying it. So, go with what feels right for you. And the best accessories you buy are ammo and range time (if you don’t have a place to shoot for free). Put a couple hundred rounds down range each month. Practice, practice, practice.

The 26 easily out shoots both. Their are trade offs and shoot ability is the biggest factor. Plus the huge aftermarket is no comparison. This is coming from a guy who loves to hate on Glocks. Love the 17 & the 26. Way overpriced and cut corners where they don’t need to.

I think at this point, you’re paying for the platform, not the gun. There are SO many pistols out there that offer everything the Gen 5 does and more for cheaper, it’s hard to make a case for it, by itself. It has to lean on the aftermarket available to sell the gun. It’s like buying an iPhone. There are cheaper, better phones, but it works with all the other Apple products seamlessly, so out of habit, you just buy another one.

Great I said why back when I got my 1st Glock, G36, I said should I ever see a G26 for sale I would BUY IT WELL WELL WELL Here in CommieFornia we can only get the GEN 3 Then about a month ago I walked in to the Gun Store and there it was, must have been about 10AM Without even holding it I said that is MINE, Pack It Up 10 days later I picked it up, we here have a 10 day waiting period and the next morning I went to range to qualify it for addition to my CCW I took a single box of 50 rounds, needing 20 to qualify Wanting to test fire prior to qualifying I loaded both clips and pumped the 21st into the chamber 21 shoots late with 20 in the Q Circle I knew I had made the right purchase When back to the counter and told the clerk I was ready for my Q Test, he handed me a new target All I needed was to place 16 of 20 in the Q Circle, as if I could not do it with my G26 after doing it with my G36, Sig 938 and SeeCamp 32 Why Here is CommieFornia we have to Q with each weapon on our Permit Yup I scored 20 of 20 This is now my everyday Carry with the SeeCamp as my backup BEST Carry Gun I have ever Owned, even better than my original 938

I went into Turners a couple of days ago looking for ammo. While I was there one of the clerks came back with a Glock 26 and announced it loudly to everyone in the store that the previous seller backed out of the sale, that it's extremely hard to find and it's up for grabs. I said I'll take it. Now I just need the carry permit. They seem hard to get. Can you walk me through how you got yours and how long it took? Any advice would be great. Thanks.

@@thelos8093 This is the mentality of if I don’t use it then why would anyone else? It’s become a standard feature on pistols, but this is what Glock does and always will do. They don’t cater to their customers. Theirs no reason for putting plastic sights on a gun other than to get more profit. They would have to invest money to add a rail. Define do all gun. Are you going to use a Glock to hunt deer? Probably not, but you could. Typically people have a bigger/higher capacity gun for home defense and a smaller/lower capacity gun for ccw. A G26 could have a mag capacity of 10-33 rounds or more with a drum. I shoot it as good as a 5” gun, so why would I carry a 5” gun when theirs really no benefit other than the rail? Which I don’t use for ccw but would for home defense. Not having a rail is a knock on the gun, because virtually everyone else offers it on their 3.5” double stack guns.

@@96stealth in regards to the plastic sights, Glock knows and everyone knows that 95% of glock owners will change the sights to their preferred brand. Those plastic sights will do the job, but if it was up to me, I would buy it without the sights. It would be way worst if they slap some trueglo and force you to pay 120 dollars and you get all pissed because you know as soon as you get it you might swap for trijicon or ameriglo. So I rather have the cheap plastic and let me decide what I want. About the rails, just because other manufacturers do it, that doesn't mean glock has to. They new 43x and 48 have light rails and red dot mos mounts. I personally have a pcc for the house

@@thelos8093 I agree that you most likely will not get good sights on a factory gun though there are exceptions. One of points I was making is that you are paying Glock a premium for plastic sights. So to me your argument is invalid. Glock should be giving us night sights or fiber optics for what they charge and offer features that people want. 3 generations of the G26 still no rail. A lot of people don’t like the plastic covered mags. The debacle with wether the slide stop can be used as a slide release. Glock said no. 🤷‍♂️ People for years have wanted shorter grips and longer slide combos. What about people who like shooting lead? Glock said you can’t or shouldn’t do that with their barrels. Their barrels have had unsupported chambers for years. It amazes me how Glock has such a good reputation, because of a lot of reasons. 3-5 years behind in innovation. Blame their customers for their mistakes. Don’t have a stellar reputation for customer service. Overprice their guns (Gaston actually admitted to this in one of his books). On and on. The funny thing is I love some of their guns, but pretty much hate their company. Bunch of cry babies that think they’re perfect. It’s their slogan minus the cry baby part. 😂 To each their own.

I carry the Glock 27 in 40 caliber. It delivers more stopping power on the target which can save your life. There have been complaints about 9mm for a hundred yards about lacking stopping power. I don't mean to disrespect the caliber. 9 mm makes a good starter caliber for children and girly women. Real men do not carry 9 mm.
