I admit, I do have some shame about my body. But not in the way you'd expect. I do have a little bit of a tummy that sticks out despite still being rather slim, but I'm actually kinda fond of it and think it's cute. The thing that I'm ashamed about is my bust. It's not a case of it being too small or too big. It's that I have it at all. I was born a girl and fully identify as one, but I don't identify with that particular aspect of being a girl. It just makes me super uncomfortable and I never feel like I'm seeing myself whenever I look in the mirror. Honestly, having been afraid of the bra section ever since I was a little kid should have been a warning sign pretty early on that I didn't like this stuff, but it still took me a long time to finally realize it and come clean about it. When I finally opened up to it, I had gone shopping with my mom and, like always, I got uncomfortable around the undergarment section of the store which my mom was used to at this point. I had recently come to realize why but hadn't had the chance to tell anyone about it yet, so I took this as a opportunity to finally tell her. I waited until we got into the car so that we could discuss it in private and reminded her of my reaction to the women's undergarment section as an opening. Again, my mom was pretty used to it though she never understood why it made me so uncomfortable even though I am an adult now, so she wasn't too annoyed when I brought up but was curious as to why I would bring it up. I started to explain myself as best as I could to her and she began to understand me and, after hearing me out, she was finally able to make sense of why it bothered me so much. She understood and was supportive of me. She did have a little freak out when I brought up the possibility of me getting reduction surgery so that I could finally feel comfortable in my own body, but she over time came to terms with it and now fully supports my goal. She even promised to help me achieve my goal one day when we got the chance. It made me so happy that she supported me that I actually began to cry. It was also a shock for the rest of my family and my best friend, but they also grew to understand my feelings and promised to support me. I'm still far from being able to get my surgery, but it's such a relief to know that the people I love understand and support me. I want to make it clear that this isn't me being vain or anything. Aside from this one thing, I love myself and am proud of who I am. I simply wish to be able to live in a body that I can feel comfortable in and not feel like I'm a stranger to myself every time I look in the mirror. Everyone has the right to be able to see themselves and be happy with what they see. Some of just need a little extra help than others. I'm sad that I do need the extra help to finally be happy in my own body, but I will never apologize for how I feel and wanting to be proud of who I am. There is a difference between vanity and comfort, and I will always choose to be comfortable if that is what will make me happy.

I love this story so much! I’m insecure about my thighs and acne, but after watching this it’s given more strength and power to tell myself I’m perfect the way I am, I should love my body the way it is because even if I’m not like the other girls I’m still unique in my own way. One of my fav story on MSA. MSA improved and changed their style, but this one is really good ❤

Honestly, the most beautiful girl I have ever met is by no means skinny as a model. In fact, she was one of the chubbiest girls I had ever known. The most beautiful girl in the world to me is, in fact, my baby sister. She grew up stuck with her baby fat for a long time. She looked more like our mom while my brother and I took more after our dad, but she did inherit our dad's chubbiness which made her feel rather insecure while my brother and I were more slim. Dad would often joke that she was big boned like him in an attempt to make her feel better. I never understood why she felt so upset about it, though, as her beauty was still flawless to me. I didn't care if she was fat or skinny. She had always had curly, dark auburn hair, a gorgeous face, adorable freckles on her cheeks, and her skin was as white as snow. She's like a modern day Snow White, the fairest of them all! She finally lost her baby fat sometime between middle school and high school, and I became even more envious of her beauty. To top it off, she's extremely talented and charismatic. It took me a long time to realize that my sister was insecure about her looks because of her baby fat. I didn't understand why as, even with her baby fat, she was still far more beautiful than me. Then, one day, I heard from my mom that some kid in her school had called her "fat" and that she was really upset about it. I got so mad at the thought of someone mocking my sister's looks over something she couldn't help that I wanted to track down the jerk who dared to insult my sister and punch them square in the face. After that, I began to understand that my sister must have gone through similar incidents like that at school as her habit of flaunting her beauty and praising herself in the mirror suddenly began to make sense. There wasn't anything I could do to offer her that would help her gain confidence or lose her baby fat as I honestly never knew the first thing about this sort of stuff. But I would reassure her whenever she seemed down that she was gorgeous and even admit that I felt jealous of her natural good looks and talents. All I could really do was simply support my sister from the side and keep an eye out for any jerks who might mock my sister for not being a twig. My sister is now in college and has grown even more beautiful than ever before. She still has some chonk on her, but it just adds to her beauty. I think the proper word to describe her body type now would be "thick", and she works it. Meanwhile, I'm still fairly average-looking with a little tummy, wear big, round glasses and don't know the first thing about makeup. Despite that, I am far more confident in my appearance now. I'm rocking my nerdiness and love to wear baby doll dresses with flower crowns. I love wearing flowing clothing or shirts that look way too big for me and almost never wear anything slightly skin-tight, but I still manage to make it look good. My only complaint I have about my body and looks is that I have a bust, something I've always been uncomfortable about even back before I developed. Bras just always scared me for some reason. And now that I have a bust, I don't quite feel like I'm looking at myself in the mirror anymore. It's not me. Luckily, after the initial shock when I came out to my family and friends about it, they understood and fully support me. My mom even promised to help me one day get reduction surgery so that I can finally feel comfortable in my own body and be proud of how I look. It's not a vanity thing or anything. It's more of just wanting to feel like I'm actually in a body that's my own. I'm not trans or anything and I fully identify as a girl, I just don't identify with that particular aspect of being a girl. Even my sister supports me and wants me to be happy. As much as we fight and stuff, I'm really glad to have her support. She might drive me crazy, but I love and adore my sister. She's amazing, inside and out.

I'm kind of happy she won 2nd instead of 1st because usually there is just this perfect protagonist. This story really just said "no one is perfect"

Trying to be skinny isn’t the goal! The goal is to be healthy! There’s nothing wrong with wanting to adopt a healthier lifestyle but getting back in shape doesn’t have to be torture. There’s so many delicious ways to make healthy food and you need to properly fuel your body. Running, walking, lifting, Pilates, biking, and swimming are a few of the many ways that you can incorporate exercise! Love your body everyone!

i like the ending so much. i shipped main character with ned since the beginning, but when i read the comments with word "friend" i was disappointed, but then she kissed him! what a perfect couple :))

My mom is a famous model in Ethiopia and my life was horrible in the spotlight but then we moved to Canada and mom quit, 7:08 my life was better but not moms I told her to get back into modeling she said "baby I know you hated it when I was a model and I don't want you to suffer" my mom is the best. She put family first and now she works at an senior center and she loves it❤
